Every time I go to Madam Lazar, I'm gobsmacked.

"You want to pay me THAT much? For this little thing?" 😍

Also, I love how your whistle changes depending on what environment you're in.

If you're up in the mountains, it's more reverby, compared to if you're in St Denis for instance.

I love the Frontiersman shirt.

Also I'm really enjoying the daily challenges (besides when they want you to stomp on squirrels and bunnies) - it's usually a good mix of activities both PvE and PvP, there are decent incentives to do as many of them as you like, and linking additional ones to the Roles allows me to do more of what I want while still earning some gold for those special items in the catalog.

Defensive mode has allowed me to play alongside others without fear of being turned into swiss cheese and It's really helped me get back into the game. I can sit in saloons with just my pistol and feel I'm not automatically going to get preyed upon because i'm not armed to the teeth. As a result I've taken to role-playing in public sessions - something that would never have been possible before.

As for new content I'm already at level 70 with the recent Outlaw Pass and am still playing every day.

Good job R*. No sarcasm 👍

At some point, R* finally fixed the 'getting on your own horse makes NPCs report you for horse theft' bug, so props, R*. :^:

In fact, on a general note, I've noticed that pedestrians aren't nearly as temperamental as they used to be - used to be that you'd jostle someone, someone else would try to report you for "assault", then every lawman in town would instantly swarm on your location with Borg-like hive-mind coordination. Same with single-player, in fact - it's like R* tried to come up with a mixture of Mafia II and Mafia III in terms of how crimes get reported, only they bungled the implementation. But yeah, so ultra-realistic, perfect game, GOTG, etc. :rol:

As it is, you can nudge another rider, and they'll yell at you - but it's not going to result in you having to flee town with a price on your head. Brings it down to GTAO levels, which is pefectly fine, IMO - now R* needs to just tweak random encounters so that they don't break instantly if you don't do the exact expected thing within seconds of getting near the person... :turn:

I haven‘t had a single camp bug the last three days and animal spawns are almost as good as in story mode.
I haven‘t been in a session with under 20 players.

it seems they are trying to fix stability issues of their servers.

I've had the opposite experience, camp and animal spawns have been especially bad the last few days after a relatively good period...

Had a very pleasant and organic experience last night.

I was hunting in Big Valley (As usual 😛) and carrying a Perfect Carcass towards my hunting wagon when I see a speck of pink flitter through the trees, I drop my prize in the Wagon and draw my weapon, raise the scope to my eye and what do I gaze upon?! I woman limping down the road, I get on my Wagon and go to investigate. Turns out it was a random mission to escort her to town and I wonder...can NPC's get my player owned Wagons? Turns out they can and we had a very pleasant ride back to town with her telling me she tripped and that her sister will never let her live it down.

First Trade Route win. Yay.

0 explosive rounds used. Double YAY. And I was dubious about joining it when the invite popped up... 😊

I thought it was impossible to top these usual 2-3 guys that get a sh*tload of kills from the front of the train, but this time managed it (not from the front, but close).

Last time that happened to me I was near Beechers Hope. Hogtied the woman, killed her friends and then beat her to death with a hammer.

On the whole, daily challenges are a lot better in RDO than those in GTAO, and it's definitely one area where R* had a much better idea of what to do with them from the get-go, compared to them getting bolted on post-launch in GTAO.

GTAO's dailies always had two problems: you didn't get anything unless you did all three per day, and the set would expect players to do all kinds of game modes. "Take part in a team deathmatch" isn't great if you don't like PvP, or can't get anyone to play one with you - compare that to things like vanilla Destiny (which had daily bounties before GTAO added dailies), where not only can you pick and choose five dailies from a list of about a dozen, but also had separate PvE and PvP bounty lists, because Bungie understood that not everyone plays everything in a game like this,

(oh, and that makes trying to get a monthly streak nigh-on impossible unless you play with friends every day for a month, in order to guarantee that you can always have folks on hand for something like a rally race)

Fast-forward to RDO, and you get rewards from every individual daily - and you only need to do one a day to keep a streak going, which means you could do something as simple as change outfit once (which takes seconds), and that's your streak taken care of, plus easy gold nuggets and XP. It feels like a system that understands why such systems work: constantly-changing mini-objectives that give players an immediate goal at any given time. GTAO's 'all or nothing' approach worked counter to that, whereas RDO just makes it so that going for 100% of a daily set gives you even more back (similar to something like limited bounties in Monster Hunter), rather than being the bare minimum needed to see any benefit.

On top of that, I like how they haven't treated the role-based dailies as separate tracks, but are just 'more dailies' - so if all the regular dailies are a bit rubbish, but you can do at least, say, one collector daily ("find three tarot cards", for example), that still counts towards a streak. Same goes for 100% per day - this might actually be a happy accident, but because the list apparently only cares about 'seven dailies per day', and not 'the full list of regular, non-role dailies', you can do seven between both lists, and that'll still count! Considering that unlocking all ranks for all three roles gives you (IIIRC) a maximum of three dailies per role (nine in total), that's 16 possible dailies to choose from if you want to work on the "complete all 7 daily challenges" buckle.

Yeah @Commander S I'm a big fan of the way dailies work in RDO as well, it's fun to get online, take a look at the lists, figure out an area of the map where a bunch of them can be completed together and make that my zone of operations for a while (if I manage to spawn my camp in the vicinity, bonus!) Another improvement over GTAO's system is that they're the same for everyone each day so you can work together with friends on the same general activities, or have a little friendly competition trying to snag herbs before they can and whatnot. It's also encouraging that they updated the system to incorporate the roles, GTAO has a serious problem with past content being untouched after release and eventually becoming outmoded and unimproved as the game evolves so I hope they continue taking the opposite approach here.

Do you only play for an hour a day? ;)

I've noticed improvement, though. I was on vacation this last week, so had some marathon playing sessions. Yesterday I played for HOURS before a disconnect. It just often happens that they come at the worst time.

Last night, had the glitch where cripps has you start a resupply but it never loads; So you are standing there, in a lobby alone, with the resupply never loading no matter how many times you do it. So I played for hours after that, until bored (no bounty posters or anything show up, since it thinks you are on a "mission." ) So I hunted a bunch, filled the wagon with cougars, etc.

  • Bounty Wagon
  • Hunting Wagon

Those are the two things I'm having the most fun with (especially the hunting wagon, my "disconnect vault." )

I love tackling 4 guys with the lasso one at a time, who are near each other, then tossing them in the bounty wagon. I know it isn't the best payout, but it adds variety. Collecting is just not really my thing, so I'll do it more in passing then bust out the online Interactive Map for the sets missing a couple of items.

I would say my average is about 2 hrs on the weekends, 40 mins on weekdays

Not sure if this is a real genuine praise from my side, but hiding the offhand holster is a very welcome new feature that should have been already in the game much much earlier. But, still very welcome, nonetheless.

I really like the artwork on the ability cards. Quite odd, but very cool. Kudos to the artist(s)!

Always thought about that. I'd love to have that set of cards irl.

Also these look like proper tarot cards, not the so called tarot cards from the collector role. Pentacles-cups-swords-wands cards have been used mostly as playing cars around the world.

Since the latest update i have been seeing more animals. It's not the same as SM but way more then before.

Flocks of birds, big groups of deer/pronghorn, when i ride in the woods above lemoyne i can hear the boars screaming again. Little stuff like squirrels... The game feels alive again.

Opens up so many new outfit possibilities. Being able to dress in a suit jacket and actually look like a Gentleman is very welcome.

my first post on this thread

i got rdr2 on pc and started playing tuesday and now i have a number of hours that i really would not like to show anyone

it's way better than the gtao experience so far, loading isn't really an issue and it isn't repetitive, plus there is so much to do in the free roam, i've been hooked on rdo

Well, it's even better visually than I thought it was going to be. I really had no idea the "world" they were putting us in was going to be so expansive. I pictured a map the size of GTAO but I'm pretty sure this one is bigger. There is so much to explore and everything looks so real to me that I feel very immersed. Too bad it all goes to hell when I have to deal with one of Rockstar's random annoying glitches. 🙄

Overall, though, I'm enjoying it. Just hoping they get some things ironed out.

- Defensive mode is great, GTA:O needs this (passive where you can still shoot everything that isnt a player)
- I like how they started doing co-op freemode events (i hate how the archer one always has a bunch of noobs only shooting other players)

- I like how you can find treasure maps on random corpses & pinned to tree's, aswell as very rarely finding collection items on corpses

Credit where it's due...the game's been playing pretty good the last few days, what a joy it is to play without disconnects, with a camp, wildlife, and working gameplay, with only a few idjuts to deal with griefing-wise...this game rocks when it works.

Found a treasure hunter last night overlooking a parcel of land, then he gave me a spiel about how that land wasn't worth anything, etc.

I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but then he started for his horse in a bit of a hurry, so I lassoed him, tied him up, and relieved him of his map.

Then I let him go, 'cause that's the type of outlaw I am.   😀

Who knows, it might pay off later on somewhere down the road.

Open ended missions in an open world...that's what this game is all about.

Well worth the wait.

You can also decline and buy it for $2.50, stuff like that amuses me, never would have thought to decline if someone on here hadn't mentioned it.

Animal spawns was immensely great today. Session full of players, I was travelling across the heartlands and i counted a total of FIFTEEN animals in one location. No mission going on, just casual free roam. Super close distance.
