Red Dead Online Praise Thread

I’d like to praise a few things:

Defensive mode has been a resounding success. The effect it’s had on the way the playerbase engages with each other has been really dramatic: from shooting each other on sight, to now waving at and just generally socialising pleasantly with strangers (on the whole).

The Hunting Wagon properly (and instantly) saving stuff you put in it, without fail. Doesn’t matter if your game crashes or you disconnect, everything is safely saved. Nice.

Giving us the option to do local Trader sales in Defensive mode, or take the better paying (and riskier) distant sales where other players can get involved. I feel like Rockstar got the risk/reward balance right there, while still giving people the opportunity to play the game the way they like.

Letting the people who help us do sales actually get a decent payout from it. It really encourages working as a team rather than just flying solo, without forcing you to, which is a good thing for an MP game in my opinion.

Hopefully Trader becomes something we don't source material for down the line. I still wonder if I'd be making more profit from just hunting + herb picking. Also, I'm guessing you still cannot generate material while doing story missions or showdowns.

Might be late to the party but i saw Armadillo got Post Office, Sheriff and New Austin state finally has a train. Armadillo already looks different and more alive and now all it's missing is Gunsmith and Butcher. RDR 1 Armadillo is the real Armadillo.

McFarlane Ranch and Thieves Landing need the same treatment. Turn them into their RDR1 versions.

Said it for ages. Forcefully take away peoples ability to be a dick and they have no choice but to be decent. I know it might not go down well but I am of the mind that if people want to act like children and spoil other peoples fun then treat them like children and make them behave.

Well worth its money. I am about to do my first 100/100 sale when I next get on. That's all because I can hunt at my leisure now, if I see a perfect animal I can hunt it and toss it in my Wagon and leave it until I get back to camp in my own time or I see another. Its always safe. I am not forced to rush back to the camp all the time.

Thats why the Nightclub update in GTAO went down so well. The ability to do solo sales with only one vehicle everytime. If you are Solo then you get a good chunk of change, if you have a Posse go big and get more money.

Yep, I am far more inclined to use my limited time to help someone when I get a good payout. The Leader still makes significantly more but the help make good cash. I also like that helpers can deposit Materials at their convenience as well.

I decided, when this update dropped, I would not grind away.

I just wanted to take my time and play the game. A lesson, learned playing GTAonline.

I thought, it would take several months to recuperate, the 15 - 18 thousands spent, plus gold. I was wrong.

Somehow, after a couple weeks of "non-grinding" gameplay. I have, more gold than before this update dropped and  a few thousand away, from breaking even with cash.

Checked my stats and was surprised. I have sold $5000 goods with Cripps, 12+ full collections and over 1000 collectables (Hoarders Buckle). Not to mention the damn treasure maps.

This update, is a money making machine.

Resupply mission for Cripps. The one where you look for the trader who was lost or whatever and recover their supplies, three wolves usually waiting for you. I got to the scene and two other players were already dealing with the wolves... expected it to turn into a sh*t show... they skinned the wolves, I left with the supplies, a couple of friendly waves and we all went on our way and minded our own business. Nice.

Yeah, I just did one for the first time yesterday. I'd rather have those 18 goods doing a fun PvE than those boring re-supply missions. It's nice to get those goods for a pretty short commitment of time on my part. I hope they expand it to include difficulty like the Legendary Bounties, so you can earn more for a harder level.

I’m not sure if it’s just plain luck or maybe behinds the scene they have been hard at work. But I’m going 2 consecutive days that I haven’t had a single disconnect.

I have to praise the sound design in this game again. Playing it with headphones and just listening to the enviroment around you is chilling. I was in Valentine's train station and only just tonight I noticed the ceiling fans and the sound they make. Then after that, a train arrived and I heard the woodwork around the station creaking. Simply fantastic in all possible ways.

Hopefully; That's the one negative aspect of it

Also, there's no 'limited time event' for it like weekly collections and legendary bounties

I can't wait for the Outlaw missions so I can shelf these Good Guy Simulator roles though. I want to roleplay properly, do solely bad things.... but there's literally nothing a 'bad player' can do :/

Been wanting more random free roam stuff as I'm a solo player and they sure delivered.

Far more "white dot" interactions and if you head west from Wallace Station along the creek towards that big field you'll get a BIG surprise.

I adore the trades for our character. Wanna be a collector of rare items? Go ahead. Be a bounty hunter? Go for it! It’s all great. It also helps set up my RDO characters lore.

It could just be my imagination, but it feels like the environment graphics have gotten richer and more realistic along with the sound.

And there seems to be more scary wildlife to attack you, with less garden variety animals. I don't care to see another pronghorn in my virtual life and the rabbits can please f*ck off now, thanks.

But stuff looks more intense, and riding at night through fog is spookier than ever.

I play with a headset all the time. I can honestly say riding through misty woods and hearing a wolf howl or a bear growl gives me a shiver.

Yeah pretty much every GTA game since 3 has been like this for me, fun worlds that I can keep coming back to for more enjoyment.

I really genuinely love this game, I know that I post a lot in the B & M thread... the level of detail is insanely good even in online.

You complain because you care. We all do.

If you didn't care you wouldn't complain. The game is awesome! And I hope it will continue to succeed and that the PC people will bring in more money for Rockstar to throw at improving the game even more.

I never mentioned this but Trader's Route is the FR event i wanted since the beta days, its a dream come true for me.

A PvE event on a moving train where you have to fend off bandits... i always leave everything im doing and jump right into it.

I do the same thing. Invite pops up and I always join... but it hurts to leave all those bodies un-looted.

I haven't done that one yet myself, didn't know what it entailed and just hadn't gave it much thought. I'll definitely check it out next time it pops up.

Also I cannot get enough of that new shove move, so fun.

I managed to have a four hour session today with no disconnects. Also, the camp pitched first time I asked and I even managed to successfully move it!

A game working as it should and I'm praising it....

I do like how Collector and Bounty Hunter have given me a bunch of things to do that suit what I was going for with my character - I wanted to see how far I could lean into the general 'late 1800s' vibe instead of the 'Old West' aspect, and actually being able to play as something resembling a globe-trotting adventurer (rather than just dressing like one) is really cool.

That, and I like the way it's given me a nice repeatable loop for steading, entertaining progression: check dailies, see what needs doing where, keep some collector maps on hand so I can open one up that corresponds to any dailies, hunt a bounty to get combat things ticked off, etc. Pulling out the metal detector in a random spot and finding a shiny makes for something quick and rewarding, while bounties have added plenty of decent PvE opportunities other than just Free Roam 'ride here, shoot stuff, drive wagon back while fending off goons, repeat ad nauseum' missions.

...oh, and I now have a dog at camp who follows me around and wags cheerfully at everything I do - 10/10 GOTY. :p

The Fallout New Vegas soundtrack is brilliant to listen to for this game.

I gotta say and give them props for making all the showdown series "free aim " . Finally ! No i know its not 100 % true free aim. But i can at least be happy with the current way it plays over the previous of auto headshots in 1 shot. At least it feels more like a shootout now. Its rather rare someone takes you out with just 1 shot unless it was an actual good shot or you were standing still too long.

I can actually enjoy the showdown series now . I noticed it said until Oct 21st but i hope they leave it like this for good. They have been adding more of it each week so im hoping its here to stay . Actually fun now to dive into some showdown series.

I like em really much as freeaim too. Hope they‘ll leave it that way, because now skill comes more into play than before.

i‘m afraid they‘ll change it back to auto-aim as default.

I normally always play auto-aim. But I really like it. Gives a whole new dimension to it. I didn't like it in the first one. But really enjoying it in this one.

Check that I am loving the free aim. I don't want to go back anymore!
