Your thoughts on having all players marked on the mini-map, at all times?

My thoughts? It's beta and probably not something they're focused on yet. I wouldn't judge the game by a first day limited online Beta test. I'm pretty sure all the stuff we need will be added step by step, test by test, simply this can not be what they're aiming at already.

The newswire said that the beta will last for MONTHS.

I hope they are not blowing smoke up our butts.

They must have, because it came out of my ears earlier this evening, trying to walk back to my camp, because my horse couldn't find me! :D

Because they mow cops down like shooting fish in a bucket. It's GTA that's the point.

This isn't GTA, that's my point.

Then we are wanted outlaws and every sheriff and Pinkerton should be searching for us and know our last location based on our crimes. But still an online mode without people to find would be like a ghost town and could actually end up worse. Imagine someone camping in Valentine to kill anyone who passes by and you wouldn't even know he is there on the rooftops.

You would hear his gun to see where he is. If not, you would die. Immersion.

Let's just agree to disagree. I think the best option is to add two different lobbies for this. Everyone would be happy

Oh, I think we are agreeing.

That mode is fine, if you want to play that mode.

I don't.

When I do get the itch, I'll log into the right lobby or just fire up GTAO.

Honestly, this would be better than blips on at all times.

There would be something like a white blinking blip to indicate where the shots were coming from, based on the sound of the rifle. After an amount of kills their blip would appear on the map.

Even better, the law and bounty hunters could put a shift in, if yet to encounter either in RDO yet.

The weapons in this game are instant deaths. And with lock on...

You're dead before anything you can do.

Yes, but your gun should attract attention from the law, thus exposing you after you get a kill or two.

I didnt even think about that.

Plus, I get to respawn and now know where you are.

TL,DR; I don't dig it, what are your thoughts?

Why I don't dig it...
I have a feeling a tons of people will be for this, and while I respect your opinion, it's pretty much a dealbreaker for me.

I want the immersion of the main game. I don't want another GTAO BR/DM open world. I still want others in the map, but I want to come across them naturally. If I feel like being social, I will ride into the saloon on Saturday night, to see what's shaking.

So as of now, like GTAO, there are tons of griefers, going blip hunting, and it could all be alleviated by letting us have some hardcore servers without players being marked, and without autoaim. And not like in GTAO, you couldn't play in free aim servers really. They lumped in the free aim-assisted people so there's no place to go where everyone has to actually aim.

Was the one thing I hoped for in RDO.

It sucks. Like many here, I hail from Hardcore Free Roam on RDR1. Free Aim and minimal minimap info.

Yeah just send feedback regarding this, the more the better. that way it shows that there is a demand for it and not just wishful thinking.

writing on these forums may get seen but it may not be enough. it's better to go to Rockstar rather than Rockstar to come here.

My idea is blips showing up once a person is in radius without a break in line of sight and when firing off a shot, and it only goes away after a certain amount of time after they leave your radius or line of sight. Posses obviously should be permanent

Sharing roads, towns, mission hubs, and open spaces will be enough to bring some player interaction so that shouldn't be an issue, just forces people to actually hunt for their prey, also would give a way to get the sense of being hidden away from "civilizaion" when you want to.

I thought I wouldn't like that idea but for some reason in this game, I don't mind it.

This. Since the playing field is level, people can't hide in armored vehicles, or lock on to ground players from the safety of the sky, there's a distinct intimacy that's missing from GTA. I must have encountered 20 people today, and only got into it with one. But he was upset because his uncle comes in his room and touches his pee pee after his parents go to sleep, so I cut him some slack. I don't mind seeing dots on the map. It's the Oppressor/Deluxo/Hydra/Khanjali icons that are deal breakers for me...

So, we must be prepared for the "players with a free average horse hunting down people who'll rely on the intro horse for god knows how much" tomorrow. Pretty much.

I don't really mind, I'm used to it. It makes a certain sense for distant players to be on the map so we can know roughly what's going on in a session but I was hoping maybe we'd get some different rules for blips at close range, with visibilty based on line of sight, noise, movement speed etc. Ah well.

From videos I've watched, it's like the original Redemption where being silent (crouched/not moving) makes your blip disappear.

Sweet - should only take a few hours to crouch-walk to Valentine from St Denis... 😅

Seriously, tho, that's a DM thing - out in the world it's All Blips, All The Time. Because f*ck you so-called 'players' and your 'immersion' and 'playstyles' - you will do what we want the way we want cuz we are ROCKSTAR, and we serve our own agendas in these here parts. Now shut up and buy some gold bars. Those gun upgrades ain't gonna buy themselves.

It's stupid;

I participated in ONE FR event; The one where you need to keep control of a randomly selected horse.

It was basically an endless spawn kill fest between 20 players. Like even when you respawn and are nowhere near the damn horse some c*nt shoots you dead rather than want to conserve health until we catch up

Yes, because he would not see you comming from miles away either.

Blips suck.

I think they should have gone with a no blip system, only becoming visible when you cross the line to the "bad" side of the law.

Have our camp show on the map to all so players can have a general idea where to look if wanting to be friend or foe.

Having a strong npc law presence in towns could keep most criminals out,  leaving it free for those that are law abiding.

This would blend a sort of pve/pvp system without the need for separate servers.

If the blips on the map

also indicate a player’s honor level, it may come in handy.

Showing honor level could actually be a great idea.  Being able to see that a player is law abiding or lawless would defer many unnecessary shootings

Is that like the GTAO event in which you have to hold a selected car/bike/bicycle the most time possible to win?

At least a bike doesn't need to be tamed before mounting up.......😏

My thoughts? Probably a bad idea. Would be cooler if you could see them only if they get close or if they make a sound.

But knowing R* they won't do a thing about it even if literally everyone complains about it. Just look at gtaonline...
Everyone wanted them to nerf jet cannons for years and yet they never did it.
Everyone complained that people spam oppressors with no cooldown and what they did? They did the opposite, they gave us oppressor mk2 with a special spawn button just for that...

People also asked about lobbies with no markers in gtao since day one...

So I'm not very optimistic. I think the game will stay as it is right now, sadly.

Who actually wants visible blips? Griefers, trolls? Okay, maybe there are normal people who want them, but I think "no blips" should be the norm and "visible player blips on your map" should be some sort of special fight mode for those who really want to be PvP in free mode setting. Sure, there would be "campers" in towns, but just act and dress like NPC? (or be ninja)

Thats sadly the point... R* wants griefers and trolls (and unbalanced gameplay) in their games, they are using them as free working force. This ensures that grinding is impossible and that directly translates to micro transaction sales.

This worked rly well for them in gtaonline. RDRO will be exactly the same...
