You both know where the B&M thread is fellas, that's more suited to this topic.

Well..... i expected the worst and R* did not disappoint. As a day 1 gtao player and still (although only for car meets the last few months) i knew where the company was going to take this. It the reason i did not pre order or even decide to buy rdr2 till i was convinced the sp mode would be fantastic, and it really is.

I had little to no intention of playing rdro, but i wanted to at least give it a chance, and have a slightly established charecter for playing with friends or whatnot.

First try: spent about an hour trying to make a character i can at least stand to look at. Plying through the intro stuff i thought to myself, this might not be to bad.... then i was killed instantly upon entering freemode. Shut it down for the night....

Try number 2: load into freemode, check map, there is a guy in the area but not close, unpause, killed. Then my session cleared so i went into town to check out the shops. Wow, seriously, just, wow..... they really tried o figure out a way to get those of us who didn't buy shark cards to fall inline this time. Leave store, town now has 3 other people in it, killed as sonn as i walked out of the shop. Quit game for the night.....

Attempt 3: I'll try some of the series matches. I actually had a good time with them, and i am not a deathmatch guy. In fact i hate them in gtao. For some reason though i am really enjoying it here. Into freemode after a while and actually managed spend about 20 minutes in freemode without hassle. There were some folks around (wierd stuff going on though with lobbys though) but no one tried to kill me. Went into nearest town sold a deer i killed on the way and spent some money at the general store.

I have very little faith in much changing tbh. Especially the lobbys, but if i can't play with friends relatively easily and without having to share the map with random asshats, i will not be playing it much at all. Which is fine, really, cuse story mode is super great.

Typed out on my phone at work, hope it makes sense    lol

Newswire updated

The Red Dead Online Beta is now officially open to everyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2.  Choose to make your mark as either a gunslinger or an outlaw. Join or form posses, battle enemy gangs, hunt, fish and search for treasure, challenge other settlers and much more in this brand new multiplayer story.

Over the first few days of early access, we've already received a lot of great feedback from the community. Please make sure to keep it coming at reddeadonline.com/feedback – as we’re constantly working to improve and evolve the experience.

In response to some early feedback we’ve seen from players, here are a few quick tips to help you succeed and thrive on the frontier.

Character Creation: Use the character creator’s in-depth tools to detail your character’s appearance and facial features. To further adjust a number of facial features, tap X/A to enter the Customize section and use the sliders to fine-tune your character. You can also click R3/Right-Stick to quickly see your character’s face without facial hair, and tap L1/LB and R1/RB to quickly check your character’s profile. While you can always make changes to your character’s hair, facial hair, makeup and dentistry at the local Barber or clothing from your Wardrobe or shops, your permanent features like your nose, eyes, mouth and freckles will not change after you finish creating your character. If you’d like at any point to start anew with a different character, you can delete your current character and create a new one by going to the PLAYER section of the pause menu and holding down Square/X; please keep in mind that this will delete your existing character and progression.

Player Menu: Tap d-pad left to bring up the Player Menu. From here you can find many practical tools and features: see other players in the session and your friends, form or join a Posse, manage your Camp and horses, quickly join matches or series, adjust your voice chat options – select Everyone to chat with everyone in your proximity, or isolate your chat to your Posse, Friends or Crew only – and much more.

Fast Travel: Visit Fast Travel signposts to quickly travel to where your Posse or friends are located and various other locations around the map, or return to your camp for a flat fee.

A Land of Opportunities: Visit Horley in Blackwater to start A Land of Opportunities, a cooperative series of story-based missions that can push your honor high or low based on your decisions. You’ll get to know some new characters in Red Dead Online, fight alongside fellow outlaws and earn a pretty penny along the way. If you made all positive honor decisions throughout and want to see how the storyline changes and push your honor in the other direction, you can replay making all negative honor decisions (and vice versa), all while receiving further payout and experience.

Treasure Maps: When you hit Rank 10 you’ll receive a Treasure Map, uncover the treasure for Gold and Cash. You’ll receive Treasure Maps for every 5 ranks after that. There’s also a chance you’ll uncover a Treasure Map when looting enemy bodies after clearing a Hideout or surviving an Ambush.

Catalogue: Hold down left on the d-pad to bring up the Catalogue and pick up provisions, tonics, weapons, ammo and more while on the go. Alternatively, when not in-game, purchases can be made via the web Catalogue on Social Club. Once purchased, you can recover most of your goods from your Camp’s lockbox or the Post Office, new weapons can be found on your horse and clothing will be added to your Wardrobe. Any horses or saddles will go to the Stable.

Ability Cards: Utilize different Ability Card categories (combat, recovery and defense) to help you survive the frontier. You can upgrade Ability Cards through 3 tiers of benefits and you can adjust them at any time to suit any scenario: use combat cards for attacking missions where you’ll rely on your weapons, or switch to defensive cards when escorting a wagon.

Look for lots more updates to the Red Dead Online Beta in the coming weeks and months, along with some more tips here at the Newswire.

So there's an award for selling an item to 3 shop types. As far as I've seen, there's only two places you can sell stuff atm those being the butcher and the fence?

Is there one I'm missing or is one of the vendors turned off atm?

Edit: nvm you can sell to the doctor, weirdly.

So first of all, the PvP thing SUCKS, and they need to have a closed lobby option like they did in the first game. This is totally ruining the game for my friends and I. Secondly, I just love how the gun upgrades cost like three or four times the amount they did in the single player game. Is this to make us buy some kind of cards with real life money, like in GTA? Where the people who fork over more money will have the best stuff, and be killing you constantly with it??

Do you guys think our characters will reset after the beta, or will the beta slowly progress into the full version...?

I think if there's a huge gamebreaking bug, they will reset everything, However I doubt they will actually delete our characters in anyway. But who knows.

So things will get better in the coming weeks.

No point getting worked up about any issues this early on really.

I don't see how horse insurance is a cosmetic?

I'm sure it's a bug, as not a single other person has posted that they have seen the same issue.

I've reported it in any case.

Ive seen it, 5 gold bars for horse insurance... and insurance can never be cosmetic.

You don't say that beta progress may carry over unless you're very confident that it will, cause people are gonna pissed if it isn't now. They're likely just covering them selves in case someone discovers and spreads a dupe exploit or something.

Sorry if it’s the wrong topic but, is anyone else constantly underweight? I don’t know if it’s a bug or what, I keep eating but still, underweight. I didn’t really care in single player, but in a game like Red Dead Online, that extra damage hurts.

Yep. I assume it's cause I'm only eating when I need and you need to eat a lot to maintain weight (at least in SP), and also your weight only changes when you have a screen transition, so with no sleeping that means fast travelling, starting/finishing a mission I think too.

I’ve noticed my health core drop (down arrow) every time I come out of a showdown series, which I’ve been diving into a lot today, but if others are experiencing this too, I guess it’s just another one of those “bugs” for Rockstar to hopefully address.

Been having the same issue, even in single player it felt like you needed to eat like a pig beyond the needs of your cores just to maintain weight.

I really like the cores system and I like that you can work with bonuses and tradeoffs by being under, ideal or over weight but it feels too finnicky to maintain at the moment.

My thoughts exactly. It would be a f*cking sh*tty move if the Gold Store opened up and the game was still in BETA. I don't see how anyone could argue that.

I'm having fun hunting. It's the free way to cook and store food instead of buying provisions from the store. In addition to collecting herbs, these two elements have become more needed to survive in Online, whereas in the story mode they were closer to being additional cosmetic content for immersion. I played the showdown series and my most favorite mode is Make It Count which is the game's take on Battle Royale. Reliance on stealth, navigating through the woods or foggy swamps to hunt other players... it's fun. Hopefully they'll provide options to select which particular mode to play instead of going through a forced series of matches.

I expect the gold purchases to be up for Christmas. GTA:O is a proven money maker this month, I can't see R* not wanting that. (But equally a GTA DLC could clean up too - I anticipate both though).

So am i, i like the hunting and i never buy food iin the store cuase i can cook !

Dont play PVP yet, im more a PVE coop player so all im hoping for is pivate sessions/servers.

I think that a lot of people would want that, i will play PVP doh but when i feel like it, not all the time.

There must be a lot of role playing peeps also hoping for private sessions/servers.

Got headshotted by the fun police on a boat down in the Bayou earlier.

So naturally the game respawned me up in Colter.

There's a story mission where you get to wear Ned Kelly's suit of armour. Do I even have to say that it's going to be this game's version of the juggernaut suit from GTA Online?

If you get the spawns and no competition for the spots, you can make like $250/hour hunting north of St Denis. Raking in cash atm.

lol, had so much fun playing a story mission earlier ... I felt like I needed to mix things up and prevented my team from finishing the mission for like 15 minutes. Sorry to the ones involved! The first thing that happened after we spawned back in free-roam ... boom! DEAD :) Sorry, again. I need ponchos!
