Decided to finally come back to this game since it's mostly dead and I wanted to go explore the world without random smallcocks barging into stores to shoot me for no reason, and I keep getting spawned into freemode, still in defensive mode, in the middle of other people's camps, where they kill me instantly despite me, allegedly, taking less damage as a result of not being hostile. Happens nigh-constantly, and if I kill anybody back, it takes 20-30 shotgun shells to actually down them, and I get warned for being hostile.

Doubt all you want, bud. That's the reason I stopped playing back when it was still, quote, in beta.

Was not a fan of people kicking in doors to kill me while I was trying to upgrade my own terrible starting guns. Have yet to spend time in San Denis since then, after reinstalling last night, still scared of someone just making a whole sodding mess of the place the moment I load in.

Stores are a safe space and unless my memory has abandoned me, they always have been. I used them a lot from day 1 to avoid griefers before defensive mode was a thing. Literally can't be killed inside them.

From outside shooting in, they were not safe. Much like in GTA, it would close the store. I have not played this game since launch, and that was one of my main issues. People would knock open the doors to the San Denis gunshop and it'd drop me from the menu while I was looking at my guns on the counter. It may have been changed since my first outing, but that was outright the main reason I could not get things done and wound up uninstalling the game, aside from the lack of content at the time.

Hmm, unless it was like this very early on, it's absolutely not the case now. You cannot be hurt while in a store, from inside or outside. When ever I've used it to avoid griefers I've stood in the doorway with a gun aimed at my head from outside, unable to be killed. I can't recall ever being interrupted in a store by anything either.

 

I don't remember ever being able to be hurt while inside a store personally though.

To be fair, my first experience was literally day one, and that happened often enough back then that it was likely one of the first changes, or was a bug/exploit that had yet to be fixed. I've noticed players do not react now if people manage to fire into stores, learning firsthand in a clothing shop when someone emptied their magazine into the counter and slowed my framerate to a crawl. I do not know specifically what caused it, but my character would immediately return to standing, and I would take full damage from someone who was holding the door open like I was standing in Ponsonby's.

Was that then or now? Sounds like a glitch/exploit of some sorts, there's still plenty of those going around lol.

It was back then. My issue now is that defensive mode punishes me for playing defensively, causing me to seemingly just do less damage to people while I continually respawn near them and am forced to fight back in order to leave, wherein I am reprimanded for killing another player and my hostility increases, despite the red blips attacking me after I tried to cross a stream to go north, and they didn't like how close I was to their camp, I guess.

I do leave, that's not my problem.

Me taking off or exiting the lobby doesn't solve the issue of defensive mode being overly punishing for no immediately discernible reason.

You said you were forced to fight back in order to leave. You can just press charges, parley, and walk away.

I did have to fight back in a number of these scenarios, in an attempt to prevent a bunch of goons from murdering my horse repeatedly.

This is not a solution to me being punished for defending myself. Someone getting a bounty isn't going to get rid of respawn timers, bring back the resources I've lost by eating and then respawning with less weight than before, or do anything to prevent people from just leaving the posse and continuing to follow me. It doesn't fix me being pushed into moderate hostility from low after making it to a town and still having to fight off the same four people repeatedly, all while just attempting to check out the new shop items in a nearby town.

This is the bitch and moan thread. I didn't come here so someone can give me a band-aid solution, I showed up to bitch and to moan about issues I have with the game.

Sure, it just seems like you aren't aware of some features of the game, based on your story. That or you're just full of it, because most of that ^ is not possible/has an easy solution.

 

My last advice/wisdom: Sometimes if you get in a fight, you might lose. 😁

I am aware of the features, but that does not mean they're an actual solution.

 

Additionally, I am aware I'm going to lose fights. I still lose fights in GTA at times, despite having played it since launch. The issue arises when I am unable to effectively fight back, am punished for fighting back, and am punished additionally for dying and wasting supplies.

There, indeed, is a glitch that lets you shoot while inside of stores. If I locate an English version of the video, is it okay to link it here?

 

This game is being glitched worldwide and you'd be surprised at what some of these glitches allow players to do. And you really have no idea who is using them or what they are most times.

Disconnected twice already due to R* error and I've only had the game loaded for 20 minutes. And of course, I get disconnected right when I pick up the second western toad and do not receive credit after I have signed back in. Starting to feel like Beta all over again! 😕

Well if it was me, I'd just submit it as a bug report and not worry about the response.... I mean what do you want them to say, "Sorry that happened to you"?

 

It's your ticket of course, but there's something to be said for letting things slide when it comes to video games....

This. I'm more focusing on head shots, but I guess they used to be more automatic. Now, I'm trying to figure out why I need to paint someone before I shoot when I can just shoot. As a result, I'm not interested in practicing it.

 That's just it, when I look at PvP videos, I see players NOT waiting for a paint lock, but exploiting the PERFECT accuracy you get as soon as you activate it. Nailing that small time margin. That's what takes the practice.

Yea Paint it Black in PvP is all about using Deadeye for the perfect accuracy + marking the head so you don't miss even if the enemy moves slightly. For me it was still muscle memory from RDR1 so I quickly got back to speed with it, but practising at hideouts or on missions is the best way to get the rhythm of it.

This is less an Online complaint and more a general complaint, but I think it’s incredibly stupid we can’t overspeed and derail the trains. The 4-4-0 design used was fully capable of 60 miles an hour by the 1870s, and 100 miles an hour by the 1890s. In-game they barely do 30. And it’s not like it’d be too hard for them to do, GTA San Andreas had derailing back in 2004. Just having animations for going full throttle too long causing the boiler to blow, and hitting turns too fast causing the train to derail would’ve been great.

I'm glad it's not an option, at least the derail part. It's bad enough idiots shoot the driver for no reason which fk up the spawn rate. There's too much dependent on the train (award/daily challenges) to allow ppl to derail it for the sole purpose of sh*ts and giggles.

All they’d have to do is make it despawn when there’s noone near by. It’s not like the online ones run on a schedule like the SP ones do, they could just spawn another in to replace the one that derailed.
