Finally got a campsite. If that had been a little later it'd have been too late.

Maybe next daily objectives should include getting struck by lightning?

Just got disconnected while I was doing one of the new stranger missions - first time doing it. Now I probably won't get that mission again. Really pissed off, wish I could let myself off the leash and just smash something to pieces right now.

My only real B&M after the update is, so far, nothing to do with R*. It's other players when playing poker.

Every hand is at the $5 max bet, pre flop, regardless of what cards the player who initially raises is holding.

I guess it was to be expected really.

This could be prevented if new people couldn't join the game mid game I think.

When one "all-in'er" goes bankrupt, a new one just joins now.

The 4-5 players should play until only one is left

I've had a few good tables lately where players were more Conservative and you could use a bit of strategy. They do exist so maybe just find another if they're all doing that

I think this would help overall.

Last night I came up against a lucky all in spammer. They took 3 hands out of 4 with junk hole cards, the kind of cards that nobody who at the very least knows how to play the percentages in hold 'em would throw a 5th of their starting chips at.

Yeah it's poker, luck plays a part, but habitual all in spam spoils it for me. You can't read players or play with any kind of thought or strategy. All there is left is either backing out when they get lucky or constantly fold until you get top hole cards and hope that the RNG is on your side. But even then, if I'm playing with someone who folds 5 straight hands then suddenly joins joins the all in madness, I'm folding. So the pots you do take are smaller because you're easy to read.

Ah well, it's not real money and it's hardly World Series stuff, I've just been looking forward to the possibility of getting poker, so it's been a little disappointing so far. I'm sure some poker crews will pop up soon who might play with a little more etiquette.

I've only played poker for maybe an hour or so but I must have gotten lucky and played with people who actually know how to play poker. The only times anyone bet the max bet (which wasn't too often) was when the player(s) actually had good hands worth betting high for.

And that's the problem, along with the low $25 buy in. I've been playing online poker in a virtual environment for 6 1/2 years where people can buy chips with real money, and it isn't any better. Unless someone gets lucky, which happens, the all in'ers (pot buying) and bullies (those with a high enough chip advantage that throw down large preflops and raises in hopes no one calls) are usually the first to go out. From my experience anyway.

There's also a difference in how people play (for the most part) depending on the stakes. What I play has 5k, 25k and 100k buy-ins. I'd like to see higher stakes tables in RDO. That's not saying it would prevent idiots, but I think some would play differently if they had say $50, $100 or $250 on the line. Bring on the $1000 buy-in lol.

I also don't like how people can join mid-game. Once a game starts, that's it. It comes down to last man/woman standing (winning). As it is now, it's perpetual. IDK since I only played one game, do the antes increase? If not they need to add it.

Yeah, I use to play online until a couple of years ago when work tightened up what could be accessed online. As you say, it usually only goes one way for the pre flop all in crowd. I know I've been unlucky and hit some bad tables, with one particularly bad table last night. The controller nearly had a close encounter with the wall when that player turned over an off suit 2 and 7, max pot, and managed to hit three of a kind 7's.

You're right about the low buy in, I'd have liked to have seen the 5 tables have different buy ins, so we could choose how much we play for and also, hopefully, the kind of players we'd be likely to play with. I'd also have liked the casino boat to have been opened for some high stakes games.

I suppose R* are in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation. Low buy ins mean everyone can play without going broke but encourages careless play, high buy ins and the masses would complain about needing to pluck 500 Spoonbills to sit down at one table.

Overall it's just been a reminder to manage my expectations, I should have known that the majority of players wouldn't be buying in to play properly, they either don't really know what they're doing, are after a lucky quick buck, or both.

I'm a sucker for roleplay. Strict dress code and $1k buy in.

I just think it would be cool to save up some extra cash over a week or two, leave the mountains, get a shave and a haircut, put on some fancy clothes and sit down for a winner takes all game of poker.

You either walk away broke and start the grind again or you've got an extra $5k burning a hole in your pocket.

If poker does well without many issues, I could see them bringing in the casino boat for special event weeks.

They bring it in for a week or two at a time for special high stakes games and tournaments

I know you're only talking roleplay with the dress code, but it'd be pretty brilliant if they opened the Casino Boat and actually required that you dress nicely before you can get onboard for higher stakes games.

It would be. If you don't look the part and can't afford the buy in, you can't enter.

When poker players doesn't make their move before the timer runs out, they should really be kicked from the game. Not just auto fold

I'd be interested in testing it here, but on the World Series of Poker app, if you time out 3 hands in a row you're kicked. I wouldn't be surprised if those kinds of measures are included here as well

I'm 100% sure the last guy auto folded 3 times and didn't get kicked

The connection has been super unstable since the update for me. Getting kicked maybe 50 times a day. It's literally the only game I have ever had connection problems with like this. How hard can it be. Holy sh*t

Sounds like much of the rest of the game so far. If you're not playing with friends or like minded people it's just a big ol' Rando crapshoot. I'm sure many threads will be popping up soon for players to get together for some normal Poker and organized tournaments and what not.

I'm not the guy to be organising such a thing, my play times are too irregular, but it would definitely be good to get some like minded players together.

That's usually due to increased server load after an Update releases, I assume it should straighten once the player load isn't as high as on release times

Anyone else noticing the freeroam missions don't work? I can't get them to launch. It says accept but it's greyed out.

I went afk for about 5 minutes and they started working again. Strange how this seemed to be working just fine after the new update but now this is happening.

The antes or blinds never increase; they've structured this to be just a simple cash game where people can come and go as they please. What you, I, and probably lots of others would like to see is a tournament style game where there is an initial buy-in amount for all, it's played down until everyone is eliminated, and where the top two or three (depending upon the number of participants) earn an overall payout at the end based upon where they place and the cost of the initial buy-in amount. With cash games like the ones that are featured here; people are always free to just come and go as they please and re-buy when they're low on chips or bust completely.

I think they ought to offer both cash game and tournament games, and I definitely agree that stakes should be higher or vary depending upon location. The fixed $5 amount for private games is a bit silly as well. Also, the capped betting structure is a bit of a miss too; limit poker with such low stakes is often called "No Fold 'em Hold 'em" for a reason. It's $25 to buy into a public game with a max bet per round - essentially that's just a game of bingo, which is exactly how the vast majority of randoms treat it based upon what I've seen. They'll just bet, call, raise, and stay in with anything and everything down to the very end because it's cheap and they aren't actually playing poker; they're just hoping to get lucky with miracle cards, no skills or thought required!

I'm glad they added poker, but it's more of just a time waste for me; I just can't take it seriously at all in this game based upon how it has been structured. It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it's not something I can see myself doing each and every day or spending hours per session playing. I jumped on a table last night that was of course filled with bingo playing fish; I folded nearly everything until I picked up QQ. Two of them called my raises and bets and they both turned over a King with some offsuit garbage kicker. That wasn't a bad pay out, I guess, but had the stakes been higher and it were truly a no limit game, things would have been better and it would have seemed more like a proper poker experience; who knows, maybe they would have folded against a proper re-raise and value bet, but had they not, they would have lost their stacks because they were ignorant of how to play the game in the first place.

My B&M: Racing. It's absolute trash in this game; I tried to place within the top 3 last night for the daily and every round was either some prick camping the start/finish line during a lap race and blowing people up with dynamite, people purposely running into you and killing you during a P2P, or some other kind of lameness in everything else. Adding combat, horsestream/slipstream, catch-up, and all of the other types of BS completely ruin them. Ugh, not even worth it for me. Oh and those free roam PvP events; f*ck those too! I tried one, spawned into the middle of red dot hell without cover and the gun that I needed. I tried to exit asap, but was immediately killed the moment I went into the pause menu. Ffs, I wish they wouldn't make this stuff part of the daily objectives; I actually thought they were going to stop the ones with forced PvP, but perhaps I was mistaken.

The solution to this issue is, start another mission and then back out. I tried closing the game and restarting the system and it still wouldn’t start. The only thing that fixed it was to start another mission then back out.

Update: Not working again. I cannot start this mission directly. Backing out does nothing, not sure why it worked once.

Just in case anyone is having the same issue, I finally figured out why the mission wouldn’t start. All the players need to have played the mission in the proper order. I played through the missions in order as the the Dummy character, and that fixed it. Now I can replay the mission without issues.

Update: never mind still broken.

Don't let the most recent update fool you --- this online game is still FULL BETA TRASH. It's like Rockstar literally resents its player base.

Ok.

Got a poorly timed disconnect as I was heading to the butcher with a 3 star cougar and a few other animals on the horse, also stranger missions are definitely hit or miss for me atm, either works or it's greyed out "accept" option.

I'm glad they moved the pvp challenges over to events/game modes, but on the flip side some of them might even be harder now due to the random nature of the pvp stuff and luck.

Loving the new update except for the fact that they basically ruined all the coats. My fat character literally can't wear any anymore because they all clip horribly or they float up at the ends like I'm eternally falling down. If they're gonna add different body types then why the heck can they not properly model clothing for them?
