I'm sure occupation greatly impacted your potential of acquiring such a gruesome facial laceration, with outlaws or pioneers being susceptible to knife or animal attacks, while a simple banker or ranch-hand might never be exposed to such lethal dangers. Personally, as a humble family man who praises the Lord at dawn and dusk, I will honor the temple that is my body and not apply any scars onto my corporal being. I will remain pure as the driven snow, and when St. Peter meets me at the Pearly Gates, he will know from my pristine eyes that I am worthy of entering God's Eternal Garden. 

 

 

 

 

yes people knives were used alot back in the day, i figured if you had beef with someone theyd probably cut ya rather than shoot you dead. i gave my character a glasgow smile, back then people would cut both sides of the mouth so that itd be harder and take longer to heal.

Scars in general and on the face were far more common back then due to:

 

1.  Virtually zero OH&S standards back then.

2.  Tools weren’t as well designed or made.

3.  More people worked in the type of physical jobs that involved physical risk.  Many of those jobs have been automated today.

4.  Medical technology has improved vastly since that time, so a person in 2019 suffering an identical facial laceration to a person in 1899 would receive better medical attention in terms of stitching and microsurgery at first instance and far less chance of infection thereafter.

 

A lot of the scars available to our characters could easily have been the result of :

 

1. them catching their face on a tree branch as their horse rode past.  

2.  A badly infected mosquito bite that needed to be lanced.

3.  A big splinter breaking off a tree they were cutting down.

4.  Getting hit in the face by a pick in a dark coal mine.

5.  Banging their face on a table from having tripped while walking through a messy factory.

6.  Getting second rate medical treatment at first instance because the nearest doctor was a day’s ride away and it was already nighttime and too late to set out to get help.

7.  The removal of a cyst that developed from poor dental hygiene.

Those are her character, not mine. My own ... Was a little harder to get looking prettier.

 

 

Some tweaking and I got him to look like this. Not really fully satisfied, but I generally don't take so much time on characters.

Managed to get something fairly decent out of some truly god-awful character creaiton tools! WTF R*?!

Everyone looks like they got beat to death with the ugly tree.

Deadly with a knife, feared and lusted after in equal measure by all who cross her path.

with or w/o the scar she looks exactly like "Clementine" (Westworld TV series). No way you wasn't inspired by while creating her. Well done!
