Go to system storage / aplications / select and delete the game (necessary to delete the patch) Reinstall the game without internet connection. Your save games will be safe don't worry. Hmm... that is a downgrade, I suppose Rockstar had to do something to improve the frame rate on the base PS4 as it was unbearable really in places like Saint Denis. Im wondering, if it is only on the PS4 though? I’m playing it on the One X.
Emmi 10,195
R* is the first in the industry to downgrade a game with a patch post-release. 🙄
TheSantader25 7,228
f*ck this. As soon as I'm done with online I'm gonna delete all the patches for my future playthroughs. People kept moaning about a frame rate that was fine and here's the results. SMH
Kirk Lazarus 1,081
Hmm... has anyone noticed some of the filler plants in the wilderness are larger than they should be? There's seems to be more plants in my face, with noticeable quality difference (which happens when you scale up objects). They're also more reactive and "springy" than I'd expect for things that big. Certainly the right amount of elasticity for plants below the waist for character collision. I wish I'd saved the first time I noticed it... the campfire trapper next to the main trapper in the northeast had propped up his camp and wanted to talk. The game had an enormous bush (head height) overlapping with the firepit. Had it been smaller, I'd assume just ankle brush. With it being that big, the game either failed at clearing out the area to place the temporary camp or its the scale problem I mentioned.

This happens with a couple of other games too. Even on PC. AC Origins LOD (detail of objects in the distance) got gimped big time with patches. I find it strange that they felt the need to tone things down for performance with RDR2, but didn't really do that with GTA V on last gen, as far as I can remember. Maybe it was already scaled back to the minimum at launch. Ah well, PC release will fix everything. Edited December 3, 2018 by Xerukal

RolfStarGames 634
The performance in Saint Denis and Valentine reminds me to Armadillo in Red Dead Redemption (PS3). It never got fixed and of course not downgraded, I can't understand why R* did this just to get 2 or 3 extra fps , the difference is minimal and the visual impact is noticiable and I hope R* really fix things instead of downgrade them or calling Global Illumination "a bug to improve performance" Believe me guys, the night in Saint Denis is wonderful with the game unpatched, the weather, the lighting the interaction between them... it's crazy, 1.03 turn things flat and much less impressive. It's not always the code's fault. They do have access to GPU/CPU stats, if the GPU is maxed out there's not a lot they can do.
Xerukal 12,776
They honestly should've just left it as is. The game was pretty stable pre-patch and really didn't need any interventions. The trade-off doesn't seem worth it to me. Saint Denis is an area that will always have drops on standard PS4 and XB1 consoles no matter what. Minimizing those drops by 2-3 frames doesn't mean much. I haven't even noticed any amount of improved performance after 1.03. Pretty much stayed the same, which was good and not at all intrusive. Not nearly as bad as RDR1 drops. DiEgOw_CrAzY 1,856
It's like gta5 all over again. I remember they downgraded the tesselation in a patch but they fixed It in another patch, let's Hope this is the case here. One thing I loved about 1.03 is that now you can run some people over with your horse before lawmen try to arrest you. I hated how sometimes I would just bump on someone and the sheriffs would go John Wick mode on me

CrimsonPlayer 35
I'm very glad I bought a used physical copy. I've been playing the game unpatched due to the fact I don't like the second holster. Good to know my decision is also justified with these downgrades. Also screw Sony because even with automatic updates off, I had to delete and reinstall twice because the patch kept downloading without my consent. Have to stay disconnected from the internet now. The only cons I have noticed are slight hiccups with the menu. In the hotel room at Valentine the change clothes option is strangely by the window instead of dresser. And you don't have blue jeans or darker work pants in your wardrobe (however you can get the darker blue jeans from a preset outfit in the wardrobe and change to whatever you want). That's all I've noticed. I also noticed I can now use the pocket watch while on a horse, which I couldn't do with 1.02 or (I think) 1.03. Thanks for continuing to downgrade your game, being greedy, and not listening to your fan base rockstar. Glad I bought it used.

Orchids I need for a quest dissappear forever if I pick a certain amount thanks to this update. I tested it unpatched and guess what? Orchids don't all just magically disappear. Also my Arthur's face is permanently overweight no matter what weight he is. Performance seems more slow in Valentine thanks to the patch and one thing it gets right is you can feed your horse while galloping in the 1.03 build. In the unpatched version maybe it's just me but Saint Denis seems more alive. I'll try to find more differences.

Also I don't mind not being able to feed the horse at a gallop; makes more sense to me you'd have to slow down. Horses wouldn't want to stuff their faces while running (unless I just don't know horses well). I couldn't believe I can actually use the watch on a horse without the patch... Like what the hell rockstar what's the point of taking that out? Or taking out the second holster work around for that matter?
Xerukal 12,776
They really should just let us unequip the second holster, bandolier-style. It has no story purpose after its initial introduction. Doesn't even appear in cutscenes. i also barely f*cking dual wield... like ever. Sometimes I'll do two sawed offs just to screw around, but that's it. I'm just glad I can make the second holster match aesthetically with the rest of the leather on Arthur's equipment. Otherwise I'd probably go insane.

It may seem petty, but on top of all my other issues with the game I won't get into (mainly wanted/bounty system), this would have caused me to stop playing had I not been able to load my saves after reinstalling without the patch. All these customization options, and you can't unequip the holster, which is obviously something that's literally programmed into the game. It would be an incredibly simple fix. Instead they take out the workaround.
Kirk Lazarus 1,081
I had some costume combo with a red vest that featured its own belt. This meant no second holster and no droopy belt. However, the main holster wasn't quite attached to the horizontal dress belt. Now I have to go back and see if I can repro that...
