Chunky Chopsticks
Gta IV back in around 2012-2013. I would have started it much sooner except I didn't get an Xbox 360 until around that time. Euri DR and Algonquin Assassin
Coleco
GTA1 on PC, December 1997. Rumours were that it was gonna be banned, so I quickly asked for it for Christmas Spent about two years making car mods for it between 1999-2001 too - good times. Willy A. Jeep
I played San Andreas with some neighbor kids (who were definitely too young to have that game) in, like, 2006, on PS2. I don't know if it really counts, though, because none of us knew how to play the game and it wasn't for more than a few hours. Totally loved driving around in the old cars, though. My first real experience with a GTA game would be GTA IV, as it was released around the time I was really getting into video games, though it took me a few years to really play through all of it. Matches what I look for in a game a lot better than San Andreas, anyway.
Lioshenka
GTA 1 (or 2) back in 2002/2003. Found them weird though compared to other games, as there was no precision in controlling the character and cars. Didn't play them that much. GTA3 on a friend's PC in 2003, then on my computer in 2004. VC on own PC in 2005. SA on dad's PC right after the release in 2005, then on own PC in 2005. IV in 2009, my PC wasn't powerful enough to play it in 2008. V straight after the release in 2015. God, you guys are all so young. Commander S
GTA III, on a friend's PS2 - must have been 2002, because 2001 was all about Metal Gear Solid 2 back then... Didn't even play it all the way through - just used to go over, load up from a mid-game save my mate had put aside (so guests wouldn't overwrite his main one), start outside Asuka Kasen's condo, grab a Yakuza Stinger (my go-to car!), and dick around in the open world for hours. As it turned out, GTA III was also the first GTA game I ever bought, too (got the iOS version in 2011 - still boggles my mind that I can play a milestone title like that on my phone, but there you go). Femme Fatale
San Andreas back in '05. Ironically, a news report that was trying to convince the viewer into thinking violent video games are bad is what inspired me to buy the game, lol. They showed videos of the gameplay, and I thought "Why haven't I played this game??" RogerWho
The demo for GTA London 1969. I didn't know much about videogames in general at the time, I think I've only played bits of Diablo, Quake 3 and Half-Life before that. It was super fun and impressive of an idea. I've never got to play the other 2D games; I was however psyched for III, obviously, probably more than most of the people around me who never even knew about the 2D ones. III was such a let down for me though it had put me off of the entire genre for years. Friends had to keep bugging me to try out Mafia for a long time before I finally gave it a shot. Years later I've played IV (didn't like it at first), V, only then I gave the 3D ones a shot again. While SA is really good, the early-to-mid '00 controls are a real pain. I finally gave up with VC. ChengizVlad09
Sheeiiit, all the way back in winter of '99 and it was GTA 2. I was initiated even before that, but didn't kinda like the bird's eye view that kept me from playing it even sooner, that and the fact I had some junk PC that couldn't run it . Every one of my friends has immediately fell in love with the open world concept and I was the only one who couldn't get pass that camera. So, it wasn't that special But I was somewhat secretly 'in love' with the concept and system of 'Respect', rather than simply opened world by itself, it made it all look so alive and dynamic! I was blown away by it. I'm saddened that Rockstar never again after that went into creating of somewhat similar systems in GTA franchise, imo, these kind of things should be present in every sandbox game! Samz707
GTA 3 at a family members house when I was very small. First one I got any real time on was GTA VC PS2.
Grotti Vigilante
So I was young when I first played a GTA game, but if I remember correctly it was a small go of the first game, and I remember gradually playing III, then Vice City, San Andreas and so on. It wasn't until GTA IV that I caught up with the series properly.
Ehrmantraut
My first GTA was San Andreas in 2007. I was 14, I wasn't much of a gamer back then, I had played other videogames before, but only really start to like videogame when I played GTA SA. By now, I only have yet to play the top down GTAs. hogei
VCS in 2008 I love Lance He is so eccentric at the time. Martinez is a really delightful man although being a villain. I started listening the 80's musics because I heard Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins from Flash Fm on this game.
Jack Lupino
GTA 3 introduced me to gta franchise in 2008. But that was mostly me watching my brother playing on his laptop while i only watched. He let me play sometimes but i was afraid to do missions and only had fun with police chases. I actually started playing the missions in 2009 when i got mt own pc ; starting with GTA 3 then finished San Andreas the same year. Liberty-TG
Vice City Stories in 2011 on PSP.Amazing game, great music, amazing missions, fun weapons, great setting. It's an amazing game which sadly is underrated(even by Rockstar ).It's not the best GTA for me because the story was not very developed,it looked too futuristic for the 1984(for me that's not that bad, maybe it should be seted in the 2000's,but yeah the story is before VC),no tatoo parlors, clothes stores or gyms;the military part was too short(3 missions). After playing VC,I felt that in storyline meaning everything you do in VCS is not worth it(I don't care that much, but still). Great memories VCS gave me(the hard missions, the city which I loved,Empire Building, the missions,99 red baloons,me trying to get to Ocean Beach early, characters,Vic Vance, the last mission,antagonists,guns,...,everything). Also this was Rockstar's first step(in my opinion)to do a more serious and sad storyline because even if Vic kills Mendez brothers and Martinez,Louise died as a result of Vic's problems and troubles, also Lance gets Vic into a lot of trouble,Vic kills people and deals with drugs to get money for his ill brother Pete,2 years later Diaz takes his "empire",kills Vic after trying to sell coke that Lance stole,... This game makes me happy, remember of old days, makes me angry that Rockstar "forgot" its 10th year anniversary, and it's special for me.Not the best but is not bad and Top 5 for me.
