Metals customizations can only be bought with gold bars. Varnishes, engravings, carving can be bought with both gold bars and cash. No gun is exclusively purchaseble with gold bars thankfully. The Honor Bar may have something to do with how the gameplay for GTA Online will be. Shooting players, stealing horses and generally doing stupid sh*t gives you negative honor.
