MorphosisX
According to IMDb, there's only one reference in the game, to film Brazil: In Brazil, sam drives a Messerschmitt through a dystopian society. In GTA2, you can drive a car known as a "Schmitt" from an overhead view. The real referance is that your car can catch on fire as seen from an overhead view and Sam's is also set on fire and seen from an overhead view when he looks out to see Jill from the apartment complex Has anyone found anything else in the game that could be a nod to some movies? DimitriFaustin
During development of the game, Rockstar and DMA Design said in a magazine article that they wanted GTA 2 to be "not quite like Blade Runner," but kinda close enough. Here's the link to the image via a Polish GTA fan site: https://farm2.static.flickr.com/1925/44405179745_4847fe4028_o.png The Residential District neighbourhoods Largo and Stromberg are James Bond references (Emilio Largo from Thunderball and Karl Stromberg from The Spy Who Loved Me) and Xanadu might be a reference to Citizen Kane, as Xanadu was the name of Kane's estate. Those are the only film references in GTA 2 I can think of at the moment, but I hope this helps.
