Legendary Channel Catfish

The one that's on the map after you finish all of the Legendary fish stranger mission line.

 

Is it catchable?  Or just a cruel joke by R*?

 

Can't see it with eagle eye. Can't get a bite. Even on overcast days. Or is there some other prerequisite?

I'd actually like to know this as well. I'm not there yet, but the strategy guide lists it as an actual fish with a weight and everything.

I'm dubious. I think it either can't be caught by design (and support are talking out of their asses like usual), or there's some kind of bug. Apparently no one has caught it yet, and many have tried for hours.

Had a buddy ask me this too as he knows I have the book but that has little aside the weight Mach1bud mentioned. I thought it was just like other animal pics and just a location of a normal catfish, lol.

 

Definitely gonna try though, I love fishing in here too much not to. So I can't lose.

I just finished Gills storyline and I dont think this fish is catchable (at least for now). There is no “caught” status in the compendium for this guy. Oh R* u so funny

The fish doesn't exist. in the compendium it appears 100% without having caught it and unlike the other legendary ones there is no 1/1 fish.

The joke's that Gill is the "200lb Catfish" because he takes credit for the astounding fish that other people catch, and has created this false image in a way we'd consider "catfishing" nowadays. [Evolved from the MTV show I mean, it's a thing in its own right nowadays.] I think it leaves a bad taste in most gamers' mouths because it basically means this game-long side quest has amounted to a corny joke. I kind of love that though, heh.

Wow, they really are so damn stupid. (If you're unsure, that egg is 100% real, I've done it with buddies as they got there).

 

Though the catfish thing is no surprise, bit Kifflom like just no money to rob. I don't mind the giggles.

The best situation would be if it was uncatchable, but you can hook it, and then you get dragged into the river, pulled underwater, and die.

I went down there and fished at that spot for about 20 minutes, hoping that the catfish would end it all for me, but it didn't happen, so I went up river and killed iguanas.

MAYBE YOU NEED TO HAVE THE FISHERMAN'S HAT ON???

I was wearing it when I tried... Maybe Fisherman's Hat + Overcast weather + nighttime? Lol. I know I won't bother unless I see the 0/1 in the compendium.

Tried a few times but no luck. Don't think it exists considering you don't need to "catch" it for 100% and plus the little text stuff that popped up in the corner seemed kinda jokey/sarcastic

Idk, possible, but the guide is pretty straight forward, I don't think they would include inaccurate information in the middle of an otherwise accurate table of info.

 

Who knows, probably some crazy thing you have to do to actually catch it.

Having completed things I'm reading more and more. I don't disagree, it's very open this.

 

That said, there's a few times in this guide where it says things like 'it would be better to enjoy this without us telling you' Or words similar. Very unlike the brady guides I find. Things are a little more vague in this book I feel, though it is mostly mission cutscenes. But with the weight and weather info, this adds to the conspiracy, lol.

 

These guys like their little in-game nuggets too much I feel to not try, but no luck yet. Could be the Kifflom T-shirt, only super hardcore.

That though, is a great scenario. Certainly would explain the weight and info but no 1/1 in the compendium.

Tried fishing here as well. No joy! But has anybody tried throwing lots of dynamite into the area? Unless it's a tough fishy

My next approach will involve a boat. Tried the inlet he was fishing in when he got pulled under, the island, and the bank of the river near the outline.  Been alternating spinner and special river lures.  Was definitely wondering if it was real, but it’s a great spot for largemouth and bluegill.

I have been going for 100% recently, and just come across this Catfish issue.

 

Firstly, the fish is mentioned in the official strategy guide. It has a weight and conditions to be caught in. I doubt it would make it into the official guide if it was just a troll and did not actually exist. Mentioning it in-game would be one thing, but to have an entry in the guide would suggest it is possible to catch.

Secondly, the second page of the compendium has a missing slot for the fish. From what I can make out, when you turn the quest in, it appears in the compendium as caught. However I have not turned the quest in yet. I've caught all the fish and posted them but have yet to travel to Jeremy for the final part of the mission.

If it is in the game, I find it amazing that nobody has found it yet.

It’s not in the game... some guy has spent days trying to catch it. It’s just a legend, one of them things you can never get.

The legendary catfish is marked on the special edition map as well as the other legendary fish.
