Over 70s

Having received RDR2 for my 70 birthday on its release I am wondering if there are many oldies enjoying the game.  I certainly am, my reflexes and motor skills are not quite what they were but I seem to be making reasonable progress for the time I have to play the game.

I'm 51. Played the original  8 years ago and loved it.

I'm now on my 2nd play through of rdr2 and taking my time now. Absolutely loving the game, it's stunning. Best open world experience I've ever had. So much variety. Rdr2 is all I hoped for and then some. Only snag I have is I still work full time so rdr2 time is limited. Now if I were retired !

Will you be playing online when it is released?

@ Jb - I'm not that keen on online either, but some private lobby with some irl friends (or "oldies" from here) and one should be just fine, while having tons of fun ;)

Gonna be 65 soon as long as I keep breathing until the middle of next month. Have always been rubbish at shooty games and I am exactly as rubbish now as I was as a mere whippersnapper of 50 something. When the online happens I am sure my fellow ex GTA crewbies will see to it that their very own Hosea-a-like comes to no harm :)

I'm comparatively young at 29, but just wanted to say how awesome it is to see some older gamers still getting at it. Kudos!

Ya shoulda seen the old steam-powered consoles, boah.  😛

Hadda get up early in the mornin', get them suckers warmed up, to a good boil an' high pressure, 'fore you could even load the game, from a deck o' Hollerith cards.  Damn took forever, while yer out skinnin' yer breakfast.

Then every 15 minutes or so, ya have to pause the game, with a big ol' brass lever, so's ya can shovel in another load o' coal or split logs, ta keep the steam up.  One time, I was goin' for a clean sweep, gold trophy boss battle, playin' real hot, I was gonna make it, and then the boiler started comin' down.  No way I was gonna lose this!  With mah free hand, I started bustin' up the furniture an' tossin' it in the firebox. Cleaned out the whole damn room, but I kicked ass, an' I got that damn trophy.

Yean, boah, gamin' used ta be a real adventure, in itself.  🙃

Not over 70 but nearly 60. I've been a gamer since the early 80s; once you start it's hard to stop. Looking forward to getting online with this game 🤠

I'm 46, feel like 86 when I get up in the morning and my mother still accuses me of acting like a 4 year old.

Been playing games since I was about 6, my first console was a "Pong".

I often joke with a friend of mine about when we are in our 80s in a care home for the elderly and the nurses are going to have a hard time having us put down our controllers to stop playing.:)

Only 37 myself, but I hope so much to have my inner gamer in me at an older age too. I know of a 50+ year old chap from the GTA section and he always brings a mature view to much that I appreciate and enjoy reading.

My son has motor skills troubles too so I can very much appreciate what one considers easy, another can find troublesome. Nice to know others are enjoying the game with IRL difficulties as much as my lad. This game is more to us than just getting good at times and just enjoying what we do. Love these open games. :)

Will be 60 in a few months, and started gaming with the original Pong. Keeps my reflexes and mind sharp I think, although carpal tunnel and sore shoulders aren't always fun. Just finished my second playthrough yesterday; depends on the game mechanics, but any slowdown in reflexes can usually be made up for by experience.

Damn. I'm only 24... Probably the youngest to comment on this thread :(. Seriously though it's very nice to hear there are elderly folks enjoying RDR2. Really cool.

My neighbour is in his sixties and enjoys games to 'chill and escape' for a while.

As RDR2 was launching he asked me, "Fallout 76 or RDR2," as his christmas present to himself?  There's no contest to that answer and he's now enjoying it SP.  He doesn't have any online subscriptions so 76 was a no-no anyway, let alone it's not great.

As for me, I'm in my 40's, but stuck without this game (yet) as I've gamed with a keyboard in front of me since the Commodore 64.  I'll get my chance.

Single player games like RDR2 should have a "speed control" setting (or at least a cheat mode) so the player can chose to slow down time by a considerable amount, like Dead Eye, and even more, including full pause.

We could get much more appreciation of the game - the realistic world design, the cinematic nature, the animations, and the mission design, while replacing the mental confusion and physical frustration of the rapid-fire, button-mashing panics that comprise all missions.  I would use that slo-mo mode all the time.

I am currently fifty three and loving this game.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it! You are never too old to enjoy a video game 😁

My mom is in her 60s and really enjoys watching me play this when she visits. I am in my 30s and enjoy it. I am thinking about buying her a console and a copy of this game. I remember when I was younger and she used to be better than anybody in Arkanoid and Castlevania.
