Xbox one X - Question about image quality on 1080p

Recommended Posts

Shellya

Currently I am using a xbox one with RDR2. But if I would switch to the X, how big would the difference be? Especially with regards to the comparison video by Digital Foundry.

The difference in this video between regular xbox and X is huge, although the 4k footage is at least downsampled once in youtube (and probably before that for their final cut too).

So, if there is such a big visual difference to be seen, even in a youtube 1080p video (between 4k and 1080p footage), would I get at least the same visual quality on a 1080p screen when using a X, as seen in that video?

I know there are other advantages, like more stable frames etc. But I really wonder about the image quality.

Have you ever tried to hunt a Sparrow or any small bird in 900p?

In 1080 (base Ps4) I'm struggling, they are just so small.

So at least based on that I'd say it's worth it lol. It's the first thing that pops into my mind regarding resolution.

I mean, obviously "in game birds" aren't a proper reason to buy a expensive new console, but I'd suppose the resolution jump is totally noticeable. At least I got that impression from the DF video + game experience. This paired with the stable framerate, IMO, make it worth the upgrade, if you have the money.

If you are into online (specially pvp), the higher resolution will surely be an advantage as well.

I wouldn't say the same for a PS4-PS4 Pro upgrade tho (at least not with RDR2 in mind - this, based on the Digital Foundry video you mentioned).

Bear in mind I don't even have a 4k tv. But I'm a curious person lol.

Yes and no.

I played this game on all 3 versions of Xbox.

The original plays it good but graphics not as smooth, and are edgy. No lag or hiccups.

Xbox 1s same plays good but graphics a lot better facial features and clothes look more clear and fluid. 1080p either 42" or 55" TV. On a 4k 55" or 65" TV same aspect no difference.

Xbox 1x on a 4k 55" or 65" tv big difference from 1080p. You can see the difference in game detail, facial, clothes, buildings and overall graphics.

1s and 1x no lag or hiccups. It all boils down to graphics.

It is definitely worth it, and even more so if you get a 4k TV.

I understand the elevated cost of buying both at the same time but having an XBOX ONE X without a 4K tv is like having a Ferrari motor in a VW bug. Very fast but looks like sh*t 😅

Still, I would love to see a direct comparison screen between

xbox one @ 1080p
xbox one X @ 1080p

xbox one X @ 4K
