Kirk Lazarus
Am I the only one that thinks this is crazy difficult to get for Arthur? Requiring the Legendary Panther which doesn't show up until after Chapter 6 and other challenges require going Southwest where you get shot on sight... Plus, I didn't know messing up a train bridge in a mission would completely shut down all trains until after Chapter 6, which is needed for a sharp shooter challenge. Sadly frustrated this wonderful reward has such a massive amount of obstacles to get to (for Arthur)
MjrOu812
I was thinking about going after that outfit, but after looking into what has to be done...I smiled and said screw that? If you are able to obtain the outfit, all I can say is....you earned it!
Rooni
How do you know the panther doesnt spawn until chapter 6. Edit: I'm reading that it doesnt spawn until you complete master hunter challenge 9. Orfan Loom
Indeed it is true that the only requirement for the Legendary Panther to appear is to finish 9 Hunter Challenges. And the Panther is the 10th challenge. I just killed it two days ago in chapter 2. Completely shut-down trains? I can't quite remember if I did use fast travel in chapter 6. But are you saying that even fast traveling by trains is not available? Because when it is available you can fast travel to any location (better to Emerald Ranch), then wait for the train to start and jump on the roof. Sit on the roof quietly, so nobody sees you. When you see birds take out your repeater and kill them all (better not use Dead Eye for the last bird, from what I've observed if you kill 1 bird in Dead Eye, it doesn't count) Edited November 20, 2018 by Orfan Loom Jimbatron

Unknowingly I blew up a train bridge for a mission and that bridge is never fixed until after Chapter 6. You can still travel via the Stagecoach. All trains are shut down in the story because of the broken bridge however. For the panther... I think I was confused with a mix-up of requirements. I also thought the "Tame all Wild Horses" meant having to wander into Austin territory. I just realized it's not all types, just all breeds. The last obvious one was the long ride from Van Horn into Blackwater (not going thru rivers). I wandering into that area once and was immediately mobbed by Marshals. I did the "ride to Blackwater" challenge in chapter 2. It was hell when the game spawns a Marshall right in front of you and gives you no time to swerve out of the way especially since if you get off your horse you fail the challenge. But I lucked out and made it to Blackwater after about 15 tries. Edited November 20, 2018 by Darealbandicoot Jimbatron and Kirk Lazarus
Satanta
I know this is an older post but rather than rehashing similar lines of thought I will bring this back up. Legend of the East. I thought there were plants only in New Austin. I know there is a way to glitch to go to NA around chpt4 but otherwise I do not see getting the outfit for Arthur-sort of like whatever outfit you could only get as Jack-at that point in the game it is a bit pointless [[plus I hated Jack in RDR1 and by the end of RDR2]]
Kirk Lazarus
Yep, there's some plants you can only get in New Austin, also some animals like the Condor (but that's not related to the outfit). You can do it without any glitch juggling if you haven't passed Chapter 4's mission when you rescue Jack from Bronte. Before going back to Bronte after the Cemetery, simply ride all the way to New Austin and spend time trying to collect everything you need. You can't save or camp though and it's always a foggy night. You get to ride with John though! I could be wrong but it does feel like there are fewer Pinkertons patrolling at this point - afterall, they can’t make it too difficult for you to reach the only mission pre epilogue that’s in Great Plains. Ive charged through to New Austin with relative ease at this point, but at Thieves Landing the invisible sniper got me. Only the little area where the mission starts is Pinkerton free. The rest of the Blackwater map has Pinkertons spawning left and right but sometimes they don't spawn as often but it's random. The invisible Sniper is ALWAYS there unless you do the Angelo Bronte glitch EVEN IF you play as Arthur in the Epilogue which is stupid.

lol232
I got the Legendary Panther as early as chapter 2.
GTA Phreak
I think it's unlocked by the Hosea mission "Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego" in chapter 2 (+ Hunter challenge 9 completed). I'm on Hunter challenge 10, but haven't done any chapter 2 missions. And the panther isn't there yet.
