How do I use OXT file?

I installed real weapon names mod with global.oxt , but when I launch the game, the weapon names doesn't change. I decided to rename it to global.gxt2 but it crashed the game

 

Any help?

Drag the .oxt file into OpenIV, and it will convert it to a functional .gxt2.
