djb204
When Rockstar finally reveals Red Dead Online, remember to keep an eye out for missing features/content. Can we still hunt, skin, carry, stow, sell, craft? Can we still use boats, swim, fish? Can we use lassos for bounties and horses? Can we still break wild horses? Can we still interact with NPC? - Greet - Antagonize - Rob Can we still interact with animals? - Track - Call - Study - Calm (horse) - Pat (horse) - Feed (horse) - Hitch (horse) Can we still jump from our horse onto other horses, wagons, stagecoaches, trains, etc? Will there be random encounters online? Are the awesome animal attacks (bears & cougars) toned down or GONE completely? Will the fighting mechanics still be as in-depth? Dodging, grabbing, choking, tackling, etc? There is so many features that can potentially be cut from online based off of what we’ve seen in RDR1, I hope Rockstar delivers the full experience this time around. We didn’t even have trains in RDR1 Online. Edited November 19, 2018 by djb204 Update TableTennisChamp and jje1000
Labovasha
The melee might be the same as single player and you can tell because the player can get tackled and every grapple animation has an escape or attack button. I think all of their games had the same melee combat for both offline and single player. All the none verbal interactions like jumping on wagons should be in too, maybe for trains too because they are using their own servers I heard. They could use dedicated to prevent cheaters or protect microtransactions. I saw a thumbnail of a supposed leaked picture of the onlines intro and it showed a train. The melee combat in RDR1 was better in single player then it was in multiplayer. In single player you could tackle and beat down an NPC, but in multiplayer we could only punch and block. (looked funny to be honest). We could also jump on trains in RDR1 single player, multiplayer had no such actions.

djb204
Tomorrow we will find out which of these features are present or absent in Red Dead Online. Being an Ultimate Edition owner, I’ll be playing tomorrow. I wonder what time it will go live?

Can't link as unsure how. But It's exploding out and I think R* social has it now, though not 100% on that as it's coming out quick. Ultimate edition users tomorrow, those that played during release weekend in story wednesday, those that played between certain dates after release Thursday (dates elude me). Everyone else by Friday. Fully staggering it, I believe to ease the load. (RDRO speculation threads have it). Edited November 26, 2018 by Lonely-Martin Rafae

They hired a Company to run the servers. I can’t remember which Company it is or where I read it. Lonely-Martin

Pedinhuh
I have a very hard time to believe R* is using dedicated servers now since they have been using p2p for years now. Unless they are in fact planning to release the game in PC, as they would want to avoid the sh*tstorm with cheaters and hackers...Or maybe they just don't care because their game already sold millions. Dr.Rosenthal
I’m no expert, but to my knowledge R* is going to use a new, much more well-established provider for cloud services, which should mean that matchmaking and overall network performance (traffic/fetching and distributing cloud stored data) should be more smooth and less prone to networking errors of the kind we experienced when GTAO launched. That is not the same thing as using dedicated servers. My best guess is R* will still use P2P, but it should work better this time around since the cloud services are being handled by a much more robust provider. If I’m all wrong here, please correct me!
