Smokewood
I just don't get it. He'll call me up or text and say something like "I found a glitch that gives you unlimited ammo" and I'll say "I don't care, don't need it, don't want to hear it". That's all he cares about, finding glitches to glitch the game as if that's something desirable and if you don't want to use glitches you aren't doing it right. If I use a cheat code or abuse a glitch, I feel like I cheated myself out of accomplishing something on my own. I have no desire to glitch video games, what's the point? I spent good money on the game, I just want to play it. He is also someone who looks for "cheese plays" in football, you know like a play that is broken and almost impossible to stop. Or he'll try and dup cars in GTA.. I just don't care about any of that. You guys experience any of this with your gaming friends? Nutduster
People like this don't stay on my friends list. Not that I particularly judge them, but I'm not a glitcher in most games and there's no point staying friends with someone who is just going to bother me to help him do stuff I have no interest in. I have had a couple friends like this before though, and about the tenth time in a row they joined my party just to start trying to get the other people to dupe cars or whatever, I unfriended. That said, I do get it to a small extent. Glitching can be fun in some games. I used to break out of maps sometimes in the old Halo games with my friends. Most of the time we just played the game, but exploring out of bounds areas was a fun challenge. I've also wasted a few afternoons in GTA doing launch glitches to send ourselves flying. There is fun and challenge to be had - but mostly I just like playing games, not breaking them.

It's just tiresome. I work as a software analyst and I am currently part of the QA team at work. I break software all damn day at work so it is pretty easy to see why I don't want to bother with it. Hell, I could probably break this game open and learn how to glitch Arthur into a woman! I just don't want to spend that kind of energy at home playing a game. I do basically the same thing for a living - small world. I don't really see glitching in games as quite the same thing though. Especially not if the glitch is fun (like the gate launching in GTA - standing (briefly) on top of a flying fire truck is always good for a laugh). But still, I find even the best glitches are good for maybe 30 minutes of entertainment most of the time, whereas playing the game is endlessly rewarding, if the game is a good one. And as for glitches that just get you ahead (infinite money, etc.) I am usually not interested. You can steal a game's soul by bypassing its core systems so blatantly. Though I did end up duping some cars in GTA Online eventually, after realizing that the buy-stuff aspect of the game was fundamentally broken and tilted toward selling microtransactions. Jason
When it comes to single player they can get their enjoyment out of the game however they want, there's no "wrong" way, not really. Online is a whole other thing though, obviously. Lonely-Martin
Lonely-Martin
Yeah, I've a couple that like to 'test' the games limits. Never interests me but they know I won't and are legitimate when around me. Though I try to be more forgiving on some stuff as I know these are good guys and my way of playing isn't for all and it really is just a videogame so as long as it doesn't compromise others, I ignore it all. If they were knowingly to put it on me, they get the boot. I feel it takes away from my gaming preferences. And GTA:O did see me compromised far too much at random, especially on old gen. I'm very selective about who I join and what I allow around me. If someone I first meet asks, I politely say no and say that I don't do these things myself, who was to know, no biggie so long as they respect my preferences too. But if they persist to ask/tell me things after knowing. I don't care, my neighbour isn't on my list for similar reasons, lol. I'm out! (He's a great bloke and totally knows a he's a jackass with griefing, and I don't wanna land in that session, lol - Naturally we'd text if co-op was on the cards, but he hates heists etc). Guest
Each their own, but I'm glad I don't know any of those players (or don't know I know them), nor do I care for glitches no more or game guides. I see those as outside help which I don't need/want/appreciate in games, personally.

Cutter De Blanc
I can't explain it, I just kinda wanna "test the boundaries " of the reality they've created. I really enjoy doing it, but it is a bit like learning how the magician does his tricks. Exchanges some of the "magic" for knowledge.
