zeko
Uhhh.... yes I did. And I started it on 25th September. I am writing on a notebook, the movie is called "The End Of The World" (I like natural disaster movies) so I put the main character name Sean then, a tsunami hits LA and New York, after earthquake in NY, the main character escapes to Boston and later happens.... (I already passed 30+ pages). I was thinking of tornadoes, or something else? (I was writing a storm in London and it destroyed the city). You can give me ideas so I can proceed, but I live in the Balkan region. My wish is to record that movie in a company like 20th Century Fox, Hollywood or something else to a movie/film company. I could send it "somehow" to the United States but how? From FYR Macedonia to USA to sent a notebook for movies? Is it possible? You can tell me so I can know to post it at some movie companies. Zello
Complete the script first then send it by email to talent Agents like CAA, WME, or some smaller place and pray they like it to represent you then they go out to sell it to the studios. At least that's how I think it works. I'm probably completely wrong. Just watch every season of Entourage not the movie though. The movie kinda sucked. TheGodDamnMaster
Personally, I think it would be better if you wrote it as a book or graphic novel, get it published (or self-publish), get a feel for what the public thinks of it, and then pitch an adaptation to a production company if people like it. Book adaptations are all the rage in Hollywood. With this option, you simultaneously establish yourself as a content creator and you make a little money for the effort too. Haven't you ever seen disaster movies? Literally only New York City (and specifically only Manhattan) gets destroyed, and sometimes Los Angeles. Never anything else, including communities directly surrounding it. The main character could just go to Long Island and be safe from a tsunami just a few miles away. GTA-Biker
I'd like to make movies and I even had some ideas for stories (some war movie set in WW1 or WW2, some movie about bikers set in the 60s or 70s, some SF movie with time travel and dinosaurs),but I just don't have enough money to make it happen, unless I would do some amateur movie with little to no budget, but I don't really wanna do that because it would probably be sh*tty. As for your movie,I guess maybe try to contact some local filmmakers and convince them to make a movie based on your script,I'm sure that would be easier than contacting some Hollywood movie company.Or just make an amateur movie with your friends, but for that you'd need some budget, and in case of a disaster movie, some skills in making CGI effects. darthYENIK
I’ve always wanted to write a movie. I’ve worked on a couple college student films in various roles from grip to boom mic operator. But that’s as far as it went. Wish I could go to school for it. But I fear it’s just too much of a pipe dream. I’m not up to what happens afterwards when it’s hard from all the competition to get any work.

I think it's great you have ambition and a drive make movies. May I be crticial for a moment? I don't mean to be harsh or to step on your drive or ambition. I know you are from Macedonia and your English is great but for me The End Of The World is a bit of a cliched and generic title. It sounds too descriptive and literal. I don't know. A more creative title that doesn't give away the plot, might be be good. Perhaps a metaphoric title. Off the top of my head and for example, I'm thinking of a title like Holding On. Perhaps the protagonist's marriage is a disaster and is falling apart. The Tsunami hits and he realizes he wants to be with his wife more than ever but he just broke up with her in the days before the disaster. Now they're separated and he needs to find her. During the film he survives the flooding by 'Holding On' to some driftwood. He's also 'Holding On' to his marriage or Holding On to hope to see his wife and kids. This is a not a thought-out idea, but you get my point. It's a title that doesn't explain the plot but references the multiple threads in the protagonists life that he is holding on to. Congratulations on writing 30+ pages! Only 90 to go! Seriously though. That's a great achievement and a lot of people think about it but don't actually do it, so I commend you. Your ambitions are great to want to shoot for those big studios but the reality is that about less than 1% of people will make it to those studios or make it in Hollywood. While it's nice to have goals, I would start small. Make short scripts and films that are 3-15mins long. Focus on quality over quantity. Can you write a tense scene between to characters in just one room? Big budget action films are great but they need that big budget. The spectacle of disaster movies relies greatly on expensive CGI, stunts and huge location shooting. It's pretty difficult to pull off a good short film without those things. Personally, I would focus on writing for small short films. A tense scene between two characters will in one or two simple locations will help you develop your skills for those moments that aren't action-focussed in your big-budget action disaster film. Being able to write a compelling drama with interesting characters will the be backbone of any film. These are the foundations. Then as you get more shorts done that are done well, you'll will have a showreel of work to apply for funding. Once you get funding you can make bigger films. Low budget films that try to imitate big blockbuster films always look a little corny and it emphasizes the lack of quality of production value. If you have a simple film but the actors are gel well and the dialogue is on point and audio is quality, then have something that looks/sounds good. Focus on getting your short films as technically right as possible and build on that. I don't mean to be too critical but it sounds like you want to reach Hollywood before going on the journey and focussing on what's around you and available to you. Nobody is going to care about your script (I don't mean that directly to you, I mean in general). People want to see a body of work. They want to know you can make something quality. - Make short scripts and find people to make them with you. - Simpler is often better, helps you focus on technical side of things, camera/sound etc. - Submit your film into local film festivals. This will get your name about and will elevate your status in crew you can work with. - Get your films/scripts critiqued. It will help you grow. - It's easy to become precious of your script, get feedback and don't be afraid to make changes. Ask friends to poke holes in the plot. The logic in your script might make sense to you but may not to others. - Volunteer and help out anybody elses short film that you can. It will build your network and your reputation. Darth Absentis
Thing is i am bad on inventing stand alone ideas on myself. To be clear about it, i do actually think i could invent the script for a jurassic world 3 movie and make that movie to be considered one of the best movies of both trilogies for an example. But to find myself an own project to work in....i know one general idea and that would be to make movies based around people who show the textbook signs of personality disorders....and make them be characters other people can relate to without actually glorifying them or making them unrealistic, but that is about it. Like a sociopath that was kinda bred to become like that, without going into killing, but making sure the audience knows he could very well kill without remorse and might have lost his last strain of true empathy with any living being after some event after his 24th birthday. Or a person with borderline who "learned" never to trust anyone and search for perfection in other people, finally making those final steps in the direction of self harm, splitting and other self destructive behavior. or an avoidant person who has that moe descend into slowly giving up on him/herself....it would be expression in the purest form...how certain personality traits are brought into the most extreme and finally cause someone else his downfall, just because seemingly minor events in their lives....it would be glorious. Tchuck
I used to make LEGO movies when I was a kid. Using stop motion and whatnot. It was great being a kid with a camera, and free time: an idea would come, and I'd video it. Sadly, all those tapes were lost in one of the moves. But I still keep ideas for movies. Last one I was toying with was the story of two children (a boy and a girl) who work in a factory in China making sneakers. They're both orphans, and just spend their day making shoes, and being kids when they can. Obviously, they suffer a lot. But their child innocence paints the whole atmosphere in a different light. (Think something that Wes Anderson would direct). Whenever they get some respite from the factory life, they spend time playing in the nearby beach. That dynamic changes completely, however, when the girl is adopted. Not time to say goodbye, nothing. Just gone from the factory one day, and the boy just becomes miserable. His whole world loses the color it once had, but he continues dutifully with his work. It's the only thing that makes sense to him. Years pass by, in little vignettes we get a glimpse of the changes in their lives. The boy growing up miserable, the girl growing up in her new country etc. (think Songs of the Second Floor style vignettes) Then it changes again, as the boy is out on the beach as he usually is, and he finds a message in the bottle. The message is never revealed to the audience, and the boy clearly can't understand it anyway. But it gives him an idea. He begins sneaking secret messages in the shoes he makes. He writes them under the insole of the shoes, a place few people will care to look at. He writes about his life. Partially a diary, partially him trying to reach out to the girl. He doesn't write in all of them, because there'd be serious punishments if he did. He doesn't expect any response, because how could he. He's just writing, venting, reminiscing of when he and the girl were younger and full of life. Eventually some guy in Europe finds one of the messages inside the insole of one of his shoes. He has a physical problem that requires him to use specially designed insoles. So he finds the message, and is curious. Asks his token Asian friend to translate it. She happens to be Chinese, and can read it, and explains the meaning of the message. And that she had heard about this happening to someone else too, but thinks nothing of it. Guy starts searching for others who got a similar insole, and stumbles upon a group of people online trying to pierce together a narrative. Of course, the internet being the internet, things go viral, more people begin talking about finding these little notes, people post on twitter yada yada yada, the little girl (now in her 20s) comes across them. And recognizes her name. And recognizes the descriptions. And recognizes the promise that they made: to always look after each other, as they are each other's world. She resolves to go back to China and find the boy. Her parents are well off, and she manages to convince them to support her in her journey. We see her at the airport. We see him waking up. We see her embarking the airplane. We see him walking the halls of the factory. We see her sitting in the airplane seat. We see him sitting at the same factory line seat that he has been occupying for years and years and years. We see her at the entrance of the factory, accompanied by embassy officials. It's dusk. We see him looking at the clock. We hear the whistle that work is over. We see her open the door. We see him look at the door (off camera). His expression is one of relief. But happiness. But something is ever so slightly off. Cut to the title. Footnotes Mister Pink and zeko

Spaghetti Cat
Check out https://www.simplyscripts.com You can d/l scripts there. Look for your favorite movie, or one you're interested in, and read it. Movie scripts are a totally different beast than short stories or novels. You won't be writing 300+ pages so the description is pretty bare bones. Read, read, and read some more. After a while you'll get the flow in a script, like the inciting incident or mid-point turn. Apply that to your own writing. DO NOT use WORD or a word processor. Slugline is cheap, Final Draft is the industry standard, but there's some freeware out there as well. Everyone uses PDF's so that'll be what you'd want to export it as. One last thing, before you send this in, get family/friends to get feedback. There's online services that will do this as well, but they charge quite a bit. Likely do 2-3 re-writes as a result of the feedback. It's great to have something inspire you create. I find the best writers and directors are able to directly link attribute their best work to other visual pieces, films, writers and other creative works. Also having something like another film or videogame inspire you to create is great at giving you the first spark of inspiration. After that, your own ideas and your own personality comes into it and it becomes this new thing. When creating some music recently, I was trying to keep with a theme for an EP, I'm working on. And it was the world of Fallout that was inspiring. This dangerous, post-apocalyptic world was guiding me. It's just instrumental electronic music but it wad the surrounds, the world, the danger and dystopia that kept me focused on directing my sound. Any, best of luck with your new script. Be sure to share it or a piece of it when you are done. zeko 1 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿
Billy Russo
I used to make sh*tty short films when I was younger, I had great ideas but usually it was some sort of Ghost plot because I had to direct it myself and didn't have any people to help me out. They were always bad, but it made me appreciate how hard directing is and making an idea come to life. I've tried script writing but didn't really enjoy it as much as writing short stories. Richard Power Colt
I actually used to film a lot of stupid videos as a kid with my friends with actual storylines I came up with. Most of them kinda ended up going nowhere though as I usually just moved on to something else before finishing the previous thing I worked on(which I feel like I tend to do even nowadays with my creative projects, it's more fun to work on new ideas). A lot of them were basically parodies of popular existing series like Star Wars or James Bond or something. Anyway it never really carried over to my adulthood, but sometimes I think what if I had actually kept doing it and gotten more serious about learning how to film stuff and even went to film school. I guess it wouldn't be too late if I felt like switching careers now. Con9mm and zeko
