I got a "Worn Flop Hat" from a random Shepard I killed near Bard's Crossing on the New Hanover side

You don't need to sleep, go to the wardrobe or go to camp or any other rubbish that people keep spreading around to save a stolen hat. If the hat is flashing while it's on the ground then pick it up and it will save straight away, it's that simple.

 

You don't even need to kill everyone either, just put your mask on, hogtie the person and pick them up. When you pick them up their hat will fall off and you can pick it up.

 

Not all stolen hats can be saved, it's just the ones that are flashing so keep an eye out for them.

Just to confuse you 'Found Hats' can also be saved but won't be flashing and they will be saved under the 'Found Hats' tab rather than 'Stolen Hats. Examples of found hats are the 2 scarecrow hats and pirate hat etc. They are usually found lying around the game world rather than stolen from an npc

You can also get it from the mission you do when you save the 3 men from

hanging. It's fairly easy to farm that way, you kill every guard apart from one so the cutscene doesn't trigger and search for the hat from the dead guards. If the hat hasn't dropped then let that last guard kill you and reload from the check point and rinse repeat until the hat drops.

The newsboy flat cap at least spanws in chapter 2 mission "The Sheep and the Goats" on a guy at the first baclony after you exit saloon. The hat usually falls off to the ground when you shoot him.

So from one of Cornwalls men? Wonder if you can get it outside of the quest as well.

 

I saw you can also get the fishermans hat from the last quest in the legendary fish chain.

Why for the love of god Rockstar is the bear hat you get from a bounty in Blackwater not a collectible. It's awesome smaller than the trapper crafted bear hat knock it off him & it's yours but you don't get to keep it.

They even gave him dialogue about keeping the bountys hat for himself

I know sucks I went back to my hat collections & it wasn't there it's so strange given it's obvious it's meant to be a special hat. Kind of sums up the whole new Austin segment of the game more of an after thought very little to do or see compared with the main map.

If you're updating the list, the Tricorn hat can be found in a shipwreck on the island in Flat Iron Lake. Tricorn hats were already out of style by 1899 though

I’m trying to find the Military Officer’s hat and Military Cavalry hat. Is the officers hat just a random drop? I’ve seen videos saying one spawns at the abandoned church, but I’ve alre cleared it out. Also, I haven’t seen the cavalry hat in the Rhodes station. Any tips??

It must be random as I never got it at the church either, just keep killing raiders until it drops. 

 

Is guess the rodes train station might be random too like the pig farm that has 3 different hats from 3 different npcs at different times...they don't make it easy ha

You should remove the Chinese Cap, it isn't a "Stolen Hat", or at least add a second list for "Found Hats".

I got a couple of questions:

- Where can i find Lemoyne Raiders in Chapter 4? They don't spawn in their hideout anymore for obvious reasons and they aren't in the church. No luck with random camps either.

- Has anyone figured out a way to save hats from missions you replay?

I got my raiders hats in chapter 3 so there was plenty of them around. They were in the main missions and I cleared out all their hideouts plus I was constantly being ambushed by them. Have you cleared out their fort yet for the bounty mission? Might manage to get their hats from in there.

 

so far there is no way to save hats from a mission reply.

Sorry, if this seems like an obvious thing to some, but could someone explain how you’re supposed to save hats in this game? Do you have to wear the hat until you are able to save the wardrobe? Or does it automatically save once you put it on? I’ve picked and worn countless hats and I only have the ones I’ve bought or found (Viking).
