Stolen Hats/Found Hats

Tried to edit my original post but it won't properly let me so making a new thread. 

 

Trying to put together a list of all the stolen hats and their locations. There is about 40 in total. Feel free to add any I have missed.

 

Remember these are Stolen Hats only so all come from npcs and will flash on the ground. These are not Found Hats. These hats will flash on the ground when they have been knocked off an npc. Simply pick the hat up and it will automatically save to your wardrobe under the 'Stolen Hats' section.

 

I have left the Nevada hat in because technically it can be stolen as well as found.

Emerald Ranch infront of main house

 

4. Flop Hat

Emerald Ranch infront of main house

 

5. Western Homburg Hat

Annesburg Guards near the station/post office

 

 

6. Classic Raccoon Mountain Hat

Saloon in valentine  

 

7. Panama Fedora Hat

Rhodes post office 

 

8. Boater Hat

Post Office at Rhodes

 

9. Cattleman Hat

Pig farmer near Flat Neck Station

 

10. Sun Hat (Chapter 5) Missable

Guarma during main mission (missable) Can be farmed in the mission when you save the 3 men from being hung. Keep dying and reloading from check point until Hat drops and leave one guard alive until you pick it up so the cutscenes doesn't start.

Fort Mercer

 

12. Military Mountie Hat

Fort Wallace during a main mission or use a lumber wagon to jump the fence if missed during main mission. You can also shoot up at the Fort until there's a number of soldiers lined up on the wall and then throw a stick of dynamite up at them which will blow all their hats off and should land on the ground outside of the Fort.

 

13. Rodeo Hat

Can be found at the Pig farmer near Flat Neck Station and the Cow Farm north of Rhodes and the small Ranch east of Butchers Creek.

 

14. Crown Bucket Hat

Annesburg npc that walks near station/post office

 

15. Conductor's Hat

Can be farmed on wagons outside of Valentine, stand at the first junction just outside of town that heads towards 6 point cabin. Also been seen at a random camp.

 

16. Bag Hat

Butchers Creek

 

17. Slouch Bucket Hat

Butchers Creek

 

18. Plantation Gambler's Hat

Braithwaite Manor. Can be done during or after mission.

 

19. Gaucho Hat

Strawberry wagon rider on outskirts and Rhodes train station 

 

 

20. Farmer's Hat

Strawberry npc in town. Has a blue top on and tanned pants. Sometimes rides a horse in town.

 

21. Homburg Hat

Strawberry wagon rider on outskirts on road that has Strawberry written on the map.

 

22. Worn Stovepipe Top Hat

Butchers Creek

 

23. Roanoke Hat

Butchers Creek

 

24. Wide Slouch Hat

Traveling npc around the Amberino area

 

25. Jipijapa Panama Hat

Rhodes Train Station

 

26. Pinned Flop Hat

Fort Mercer

Can easily farm these hats by leaving one npc alive which will spawn all the enemies in again when you go back.

34. Fisherman's Hat (Missable)

Last mission in the legendary fish chain.

 

35. Bucket Hat (Missable)

From a worker at the Lumberyard near Strawbery.

 

36. Liberty Hat (missable)

From the stranger mission 'A Fine Night for It' Do the mission up to when you clear the house, after that a second wave will attack. Kill everyone apart from one npc, if the hat hasn't dropped then let the npc kill you or kill yourself with dynamite and restart at the checkpoint. Took me about 10 times so good luck!!

Can also be found in the mission "An American pastoral scene"

 

37. Workman's Flat Cap

Worker in Annesburgh

 

38. Worn Flop Hat

Found near Emerald Ranch on a npc sometimes hearding sheep or from one of the poachers during the companion mission with Charles.

 

39. Derby Hat

On a passenger in a stagecoach outside of strawbery.

 

40. Johns Gambler Hat (Main Mission & missable)

Before the mission is over get in a fight with an npc so they knock your hat off. It should then be glowing when this happens so pick it up again and it will save.

Dunno if they are already on the list but some scarecrows also have unique hats you can steal and are stored in your inventory

If i replay a guarma mission and pick up a sun hat will it save to my main game?

 

 

Also i got a "gambler hat" robbing someone in the armadillo saloon

Thanks but those are 'found hats' rather then 'stolen hats' so are saved under a different tab

Did the police hat save to your wardrobe? I have picked up countless police hats but sadly none have saved.

I don't think it will save as your always reverted back to your original game when you replay a mission. If it works though then let me know please

The Sun Hat is the one that slave driver is wearing? That thing is a bitch to try and get, you can only get it on the shootout at the beach, I think. I missed it, saw it glowing on the ground but the game switched to the next scene before I could grab it

So I think we have all 30 now as I just picked up 'Plantation Hat' from a npc at the pig farm at flat neck station and it's a different hat from 'Plantation Gamblers Hat'

 

I also stole the 'Nevada' hat from the sheriff in valentine but it saved as a 'found hat' rather than a 'stolen hat'

I  replayed the fort wallace mission and got a special hat but it didnt save it to my main game could i still get one of i break in now post game?

Not too sure about that. There's always one guard standing on the wall at the front gate, maybe there's a chance you could kill him and his body might fall over the wall?

I wore defeated NPC's hats for fun and thought nothing of it but only yesterday, for the first time, the game notified me that I picked up some special hat from a bounty hunter.  Couldn't tell you what it is yet as I haven't checked.

At the same ranch you can find the Cattleman hat by Flatneck Station you can get the Cutter hat

Thanks for the update! So that's now Rodeo Hat, Cutter Hat, Cattleman Hat and Plantation Hat all from that one farm!

I had to use a tree log wagon i found at the lumber yard near by all other type of wagons wouldnt let me climb on top of them

Most of the hats in Strawberry are from people riding the wagons on the outskirts but the Farmers Hat is from an npc actually walking about the town. Sometimes standing infront of the building that's under construction. 

 

I usually make a manuel save then hogtie the person and pick them up then drop them so their hat falls off. If it's not the right one I can just reload.

one of the missions with Micah when you rob a stagecoach with uncle the bounty hunters there drop a hat but I'm not sure which one.

It was random bounty hunters.  Cannot remember what the bounty was but it was a lot.

I have stolen and saved hats from people I have killed and people I havnt killed.
