Can be fixed via patch. People forget this happened to Witcher 3 (albeit on a smaller scale), and CDPR responded with a patch that added in an entirely different movement system that one can toggle on and off. Thats the thing about this game, its biggest issue can be fixed via update. Now lets see if they do it.

Now i do agree the controls are clunky as sh*t thats why i do FP mode but i highly doubt they will fix it i think the mchanics are part of the engine which produced amazing graphics at least lol but i hope GTA6 is super responsive and smooth though.

Uh, yes? The first two in general were considered definitive ps2 games, with some considering the second one to be one of the “swan song” games for the sixth gen

We have "masterpieces". And "Great" games. I think GOW series belongs in the "great" category.

But if I want to be more precise. We have "Legendary Masterpieces","Masterpieces" and great games. In that case yes. I think GOW does fall in the "masterpiece" section but I wouldn't even consider RDR2 as a "Legendary Masterpiece". Meh. But these are all opinions.

Both GoW and GoW 2 were  masterpieces

Among the best games on PS2, period

Among the likes of GTA SA, RE 4, Okami, MGS 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, etc

GoW’s were considered as great games, but not masterpieces. The likes of GTA 3, Vice City and GTA SA were known as the best games of the PS2 area.

I have to disagree, RDR2 is definitely once in a generation - Legendary Masterpiece

I have been a fan of Rockstar since the launch of GTA3. I do play other games, but I’m mainly into open world sandbox games, the mature ones(none of that Crackdown, Just cause etc crap).

Tbh, if I had to choose between your favourite GOW and the bugfest that was Mafia 3, I would play the latter.

GOW, Uncharted, TLOU all these linear games don’t tickle my fancy at all... no offense.

Ok, it’s your taste and i can respect that

Just don't make statements as if they were facts

You prefer Mafia 3 over GoW? Fine by mine, as long as you don't say that Mafia 3 is better based on that

Loved god of war 3, also liked Ascension. Never played the first two. Hated the new god of war and I feel the exact same about TLOU and Uncharted. There was a hilarious youtube comment I saw recently about TLOU;

”The Last of Us is a great movie”

No, Literally its universally agreed that the GOW games were considered absolute masterpieces and rightfully so. The PS2 and PS3 games pushed the tech of the consoles and had epic boss fights (Which GOW PS4 Lacked) and music. Hell, GOW3 still looks amazing 9 years later. Also, RDR2 is a legendary masterpiece in this generation because weve gotten so many sh*t turd games it was a miracle that this game was actually good after 8 year development.

Definitely not, Mafia 3 was utter rubbish in fact, one of the worst textures/lighting I have seen in a video game, probably the buggiest game I have played this generation.

But, if I had to pick one to spend my evening with, I would rather roam around in Mafia 3 than watching/playing GOW... if I want a good story I will watch a

movie instead, the stories in video games have never got me excited. They just don’t have the same effect as movies, not even close, never have and never will imo.

Yeah i feel the same on TLOU and Uncharted as well. The appeal just didnt last as long as RDR2. Does anybody even play GOW anymore? Lmao just like Räzorfist on YouTube said and it couldnt be even more true.

Very odd opinion on the “Videogame stories have never got me excited” Spiel as back than most game stories were actually worthwhile ala Halo, Gears, Uncharted is recognized for its story, GOW the list goes on. I believe you may just like playing the game rather than understanding one.

I have to stick to video game stories since I don't watch many movies(maybe 3-4 each year?). I just can't sit there and watch people do stupid sh*t with no control. The fight scenes appear boring to me too since I can't play them.

The story is secondary, all I am interested of is the gameplay, cos you know it’s called a game after all and not a movie. I do understand the stories, but they don’t excite me... I liked GTA IV story, however it wouldn’t have bothered me, if all I got was the open world without the story, I hope it makes sense what I am trying to say

Really? Each to their own I suppose, I probably watch 40-50 movies in a year. Most of them via torrents ;)

Yeah I just can't sit and do nothing. It gets boring you know. In Video games I get the chance to switch between gameplay and cutscenes which makes me enjoy stories and "do something" at the same time.

Funny thing is, RDR 2 is closest to being a movie than GoW

The game is very cinematic and even has a cinematic mode.

As a gamey, playable videogame, GoW is better

I said this before within a group of friends:

RDR 2 is the better experience/movie

GoW is the better game

Nope. Disagreed. GOW tried to follow TLOU's footsteps and be a movie where it clearly does not belong. GOW was always "gamey" but they changed it this time. RDR2 might have more cinematic moments but they get lost in the sheer amount you play in the world. In other words Cutscene/Gameplay in RDR2 at the end is far lower than GOW.

Note that i didn't say that in a bad way

Love stories in games.

Even though RDR 2 has much more things to do, the mechanics in GoW are much more refined and responsive

Hence the "more gamey" part

Fair point, however, I did play the previous GoW’s, didn’t like them, nor the Uncharted or TLOU. All same type of games, linear-interactive-cutscenes-button smashing. No thanks.

I have seen the videos of the latest GOW and it doesn’t interest me one bit.

This debate is so silly, now.

"GoW is a movie" or "The mechanics in GoW are much more refined"

Both sides are getting silly. Each game has its clear strengths and its clear weaknesses and really are so un-alike that it's petty to compare actual gameplay. For me you can only compare what you find more impressive, and RDR 2 did so much more and did it successfully that I can't justify GoW being game of the year, despite how phenomenal it was. Speaking as someone who holds TLoU head and shoulders above GTA V.

So you think GoW has no business being recognized GOTY...

In your opinion, or in general?

Both.

As I've said before, I think the politics and discussion trends of this year have dictated GoW's win over RDR 2.

Not in the sense that the 'SJWs' over at Kotaku worked up some conspiracy or anything silly like that - though fine, I'm sure a minimal fraction of those voting were still somehow annoyed about the feminist protester NPC 'controversy'.

Politics? Lol

GoW was never in the middle of controversies

No dlc's

No mtx

No 100h working weeks

Just an extremely well made game without BS

GoW won because its amazing.

Except milking the franchise for probably two more games for 120$.

Good. Because it doesn't have a multiplayer mode and therefore has no right to use microtransactions. RDR2 had no Microtransactions in it's already more content-filled SP.

 No 100h working weeks

If you think R* is the only company with crunch you're heavily wrong my friend. They are just the only one talking about it in the public. We already know the Santa Monica staff were under pressure during the whole development and if  GOW wasn't successful(After The Order 1886) They would basically be in serious trouble. Also we have heard how Sony gave barlog sh*t at the beginning for trying to change the franchise. But do you know what's the difference between this and R* situation? It's the fact that Barlog posted a video of himself crying and now the whole world sympathize with the devs instead of bashing them like R*. Santa Monica were simply smarter. They victimized themselves and won the crowd. Probably another one of the reasons they won the award. Ppl definitely sympathize more with them than a wealthy resourceful company like R*.
