My level 9 mustache sometimes goes to 10 in the current version,  I keep the chops and chin trimmed though, so I don't know for sure

I'll just leave this here.

As you can clearly see I am only in chapter 2 and I've had this for quite some time now.

The last video I uploaded only showed a 10 mustache, 10 chops, and a 9 beard because I've always trimmed the beard back a little bit. I did this due to the clipping it causes on the outfit.

...but lately I just haven't even bothered trimming it down and it went right back to 10/10

I think I might even know why this is happening to others.

I tried to follow a YouTube video showing how to do this and that's when I got the issue of not being able to achieve it. When I followed my original method it works every time.

Could you please explain the method?

Unfortunately; time is the answer.

Thr first part is just an assumption based upon an observation...

I noticed something when I was trying to advance the moon cycle.

If you sleep it really doesn't seem to progress.

However, if you let the days just go by in the game it does appear to change.

My assumption is that, something similar is happening with the Beards.

...maybe?

Not a coder so I can't answer that and can only make an assumption.

If this is the case then it appears repeated sleeping really isn't very beneficial.

In addition to this, I think the doubling down on hair tonics is also adding to the issue.

The way I do it is...

I drink a Hair Tonic and then use some Hair Pomade. Now it's just a matter of passing the time...

It's important to note that I don't think the Hair Pomade adds anything to assist with the Beards growth, it's simply used as a timer.

Each time the Pomade wears off, you know it's time to take another tonic and more hair pomade.

Rinse and repeat. Worked every time for me.

If you're looking for things to do to pass the time...

...explore the map.

...take part in Camp activities like chores and Camp requests.

...do the gang member side missions like robbing houses and such.

...take part in the many mini games, including the ones in camp.

...play missions.

...replay missions and try to earn gold on them.

...go hunting (in an effort to make this a lengthy activity, only kill perfect animals)

...study animals.

...herb picking.

...time spent crafting.

If you're in the right chapter and have completed the right mission...

...rob and sell stagecoaches.

...steel and sell horses.

There really is a lot to do and I haven't even pointed out all of it.

This really shouldn't be necessary though. In 1.00 three hair tonics and it should be growing extremely fast until it wears off.
