why dont they just try to port it for nintendo switch first and see if it sells well, then they decide if they should port it for mobile or not, but in my opinion i think vcs will be difficult at some points in missions comparing to touch controls, either they edit the missions or remove it but i think gta vcs is a perfect game for mobile as well as gta sa, gta vc sucks on mobile have you seen the aim controls for vice city ewwwwwwwwww, anyway gta vcs needs to be either remade (reloaded) or ported for another modern handheld devices because this takes place in vice city, keep in mind that in gta vice city for pc if you remove all files but the map it will be just under 150 megabytes and thats awesome unlike liberty city in its complication of its streets and detailed roads and alleyways.

Nintendo Switch port would probably sell even worse than iOS/Android version :]

VCS for mobile systems will never be a thing. We should just deal with it. PSP emulator is a good alternative. I have beaten the game few months ago with external bluetooth controlller. No problems at all.

Why don't they port it to mobile since they ported LCS to mobile. One simple answer. In the Air Tonight. They were unable to licence In The Air Tonight or did not want to licence it, and that song is crucial, since there is a mission. If any other song was the problem, they could just remove it.

Once again, this is false. It was a made up rumour as to why the game couldn't be ported when the fact is it's going to be the vast majority of WAVE 103 and Flash FM that's the issue since they had some huge name songs on them. As for Phil Collins, he's always had a good relationship with Rockstar since VCS, GTA IV and GTAV feature more songs by him and Genesis, as well as being one of the songs to remain after GTA IV lost a lot of music during it's 10th Anniversary.

Music license is probably the reason why they didn't released the game on mobile, though, like Ash said,it has nothing to do with Phil Collins since he has songs on IV and V. The game didn't sold that bad either, its like the second/third best seller game on PSP, even though the numbers were not great on PS2.

whatever,  I rather play on real hardware, legit on consoles.

I feel like a PSP would be more "real" for a once PSP exclusive :V

I don't really think that it's gonna get a 10th anniversary mobile port, mainly because it's one of the more obscure GTA games, and is overall mostly forgotten

i would love to have an android/IOS version of this game just as much as everyone else, but i don't think cockstar cares about their old games except for making money off of them, and if it is true that LCS for mobile did not sell well, then they might assume that VCS won't sell well either. look at the PC version of IV for example. they only started to remove games for windows live AFTER it stopped them from selling more copies. to add insult to injury, they were too cheap to renew the music liscences.

f*ck it, just get a PS vita with adrenaline installed, a backup of VCS, a plugin that allows you to control the camera with the right stick, and you got yourself a "mobile port". that's what i did.

I reckon that VCS would sell more than LCS anyway. Many people would favor it over the latter due to features it provides that they care about, like swimming, more advanced combat, properly flyable helicopters and airplanes, more accessible interiors, empire-building, and so on.

I think any mid range smartphone could easily handle VCS on PSP emulator, so you don't even need to buy a console.

Do I think it should be released? Yes.

Do I think it will be? No.

The reason being is, my theory I've stuck with for years, Phil Collins. Phil Collins had a major roll in the game as a mission NPC as well as a mission that took place within one of his concerts with his music playing. I believe this can be the only reason why it hasn't been.

Other GTA games during re-releases if music expired would either replace it or remove the song and still release. But VCS is a special case thanks to the Phil Collins stuff. That could honestly be the only reason. They can't strip it out because it would cripple the story.

So many other projects that Rockstar made during and even after, like Chinatown wars, bully, manhunt 2; all got ported to Android/iOS but vice city stories was skipped. It was even skipped on PSN/Xbox live for a re-releases and it was delisted on PSN for sale.

I can't say for sure, but I'm confident it's related to the Phil Collins material.

Vice city stories will likely be the Sonic 3 of GTA in ports. Sonic 3 has rarely been ported thanks to the music rights issues related to Michael Jackson and a couple other artists. Other games in that series are regularly ported but not 3. I sense a similar treatment to vice city stories.

It's unfortunate because vice city stories could potentially be the best GTA 3d era game after sanandreas imo (and several others) but sadly it's being treated as a black sheep.

It can't be that expensive to license one Phil Collins song, even if it's his most popular.

It most likely comes down to LSC mobile sales and the cost of re-licensing the entire soundtrack.

I just wish they made PC ports of both games when the PS2 versions released, then we wouldn't need to rely on emulation and old game consoles to play them.

Well it's not below 50.000$ for sure.

All of their mobile port (except GTA III to an extend) is a buggy mess so I wouldn't care about VCS mobile version

At least we can still play it via the PPSSPP emulator on our phones. I'd love to have a proper Android port but seems like it will never happen sadly 😕

Android (and iOS)? Sure, If it was a "remaster" similar to what VCS' predecessors received (i.e. III, VC, SA, LCS), then yes, mobile would be the best platform for this. This is the most likely outcome from R*. It'll probably never happen, but if it did it would be probably be a Lucid/War Drum port like the rest of them. But know what? f*ck that. I love this game way too much to just have a mobile port with some shiny graphics (especially where SA is concerned). Yes, I know it didn't sell well. Yes, it may still not sell well in 2020, but VCS needs to be celebrated properly, like the games before it should have been.

A bit off topic, but I had no interest in playing the Mafia titles... until I saw the new remake and remaster they had announced (and in Mafia II's case, released) for the first two games. I think the upgrade between the original Mafia game and the remastered is absolutely magnificent (I mean, of course, it's been made for 2020 hardware as opposed to 2002). I've never played it before, so it's different for me, because I'll be experiencing it in a whole new way for the first time. It may be the best choice I've ever made, and I'm going to make sure as hell I play the entire trilogy too. I can't imagine what its like to have played the original way back when, and then see gameplay for the remake. It must be truly amazing.

So my point is, if a remake can interest someone who had no interest in an IP/game/franchise/whatever (i.e. me) to play the game and, in turn, play all of the other games, surely the same can work for a certain household-name-in-gaming called Grand Theft Auto, right? I would love to play VCS (and all of the 3D era games before it) in a full remake with updated mechanics. It's probably not economically viable at all, but who cares? I'm still shocked it never happened with III, Vice City and San Andreas (the sixth, fourth and number one best selling PS2 games, respectively). What a crock of sh*t.

I know I'm not alone, but I absolutely hate how R* treat their legacy; such heartbreaking disappointment, especially when you realise that they treat it like absolute sh*te.  No, R*, fake ass t-shirts with radio stations logos on, custom horns and sh*te Adversary modes in GTA Online aren't enough.

Im replaying VCS on my Vita now and I just done a full play through of LCS on it too. Running through adrenaline the graphics are actually pretty good, plus you can also use the native resolution patch. If the vitas not comfortable for some Id recommend grabbing some controller style grips for them, makes a huge difference.
