djb204
ANIMAL ATTACKS I hope online gets the awesome animal attack animations we see in single player. I’d hate to see a toned down animal attack online but I fear that is what we will get unfortunately. ANIMAL POPULATION In RDR1, there were areas online where bears and cougars would attack players in large numbers. I hated this design because it felt cheap. First of all grizzly bears don’t attack in packs lol. Plus they were easy to kill online. I’d much prefer bears and cougars were more solitary like their real life counter part and much harder to kill. The RDR1 Online design hurt immersion. ANIMAL INTERACTIONS I hope animals online continue to interact each other, hunting, sparring, etc. Like many games, important detailed features tend to be absent in the online portion for what ever reason, ynchronization problems, or what ever the case may be, I hope rockstar can retain the level of detail we see in the single player version. DentureDynamite
Actually, I think it's in Rockstar's best interests (read: making money) to keep animals in the game, and I've heard they plan to. If players lose money (like the GTA Online hospital bill) every time they're killed--not just by other players, but by wolves, cougars, crocodiles, bears, etc., Rockstar has yet another nice way of "money sponging" players and keeping up their Buffalo Bond sales (or whatever it'll be called). It would also be nice to see some griefers getting nailed by a cougar or wolf pack they weren't expecting. This thread was addressing whether or not the animals Online would provide a similar experience like what we see in RDR2’s single player, or a completely different experience for players like we seen in RDR1. In RDR1 single player bears were solitary and hard to kill. (authentic) In RDR1 multiplayer bears were in groups and easy to kill. DentureDynamite
^^ Hmm; I'm not familiar with animal behavior in the original RDR single player--what was it like?
White Shark
I'm pretty certain animals will remain in online. Don't forget, GTA had the issue with performance because the game has to cater for the sheer amount of traffic, pedestrians and aircraft, all of which will not be present in RDO, so the game should be able to cope with animals. In the original RDR1 Online, one swipe from a bear or cougar and you were dead, or your horse was dead. Knifes killed bears and cougars with a single strike. There are certain areas where bears attack you in large numbers (bear claw camp). There are areas like this for many animals in RDR1. It was ridiculously unrealistic. RDR1 (single player) was more like RDR2 (single player). Bears and cougars are more solitary and much harder to kill. When they attack you it’s an actual fight (not just a one hit kill). These single player animals were actually hard to kill too. This is what I hope we see in RDR2 Online. The RDR1 Online animals were lazy designs. 1 hour ago, White Shark said: I'm pretty certain animals will remain in online. In that case, then yes to everything you said in your original post lol. I just know some people have said they feared animals would be removed. djb204
TiberiusMcQueen
I hope that all the dangerous animals in singlplayer are just as deadly (if not more so) online. This is a multiplayer environment, so they should keep in mind that players won't necessarily always be hunting alone, and be willing to throw some serious s*** their way. As long as the “serious s***” isn’t a pack of grizzlies or cougars for the sake of immersion. Cougars and grizzlies are solitary animals so they shouldn’t congregate in packs like RDR1, and it really hurt immersion in RDR1 for those that knew better.
