Next RDR Game = My Ideas

1. A sequel to Red Dead Revolver that lets us be a older Red Harlow

2. A prequel to RDR 2 where we play as a younger Arthur and ends with us playing out the Blackwater Massacre as Dutch.

3. A game set doing/after the events of RDR and you play as a surviving member of Dutchs gang and and some missions may intertwine with the events of RDR

i hope they go for more of a 1920s/30s prohibition era game. Like, millers crossing/boardwalk empire style.

I'd love Rockstar to do a game like that, but I wouldn't want them to call it a Red Dead game, Red Dead games should stay westerns. I want them to go further back in time if they do another Red Dead game.

It'd be a bummer to revisit any of the older universes, be it Revolver or Redemption. It's very early to talk about the next Red Dead game, but I highly doubt that we will got anything but a completely new universe. Map assets can be reused, but the story and characters will be fresh and new. In addition, Redemption covered the dying West and approaching Civilization theme, so the next logical step for a Western title is to go back in time and into the depths of the legends of the glorious outlaws and lawless lands.

It's crazy when you think how long the game has been in development and how much little time it takes us to finish the story and cover all the in-game contents. It's probably another 8 years or so until a new game as far as we know, but at least it's now more likely that there will be a new one given the success that Redemption 2 has made sales and reception wise.

I would like to see a new title from R*. They should step away from all their current franchises for awhile and make a 1920's - 1950's gangster game or even a game where you play as a cop, with the choice to be dirty. (Like RDR2 honour system.) Maybe a game focused around street racing? Endless possiblities for a company like R*.

As much as I love the GTA, and Red Dead franchise I would really like for them to come up with something new and fresh.

Lol you should really look into LA Noire and Midnight Club.

The next Red Dead, when ever that may happen, should be an entirely new story IMO. Setting it in the same world would be good, maybe mention the van der Linde gang, maybe have some returning characters, but it should follow a brand new character that's unconnected to the stories in both Redemption 1 and 2.

There's no need to explore the story of Dutch, Arthur or John any more though IMO.

I think Rockstar really needs to change things up for the next RDR.

The Rockstar paradigm of open world games is showing it's age. I think GTA V was a bandaid on the open wound.

I enjoyed RDR2 primarily for the story of Arthur Morgan but it felt like game design circa 2012-2013 and RDR 1.5 in a lot of ways.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of fun, great story, and amazingly immersive world but I would take a serious look at starting from scratch.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I think I've seen all that needed to be seen of the Redemption universe. I'm ready for something new next time around.

The actual Wild West with the legendary gunslingers Granger, Hernandez, Grant, Calloway etc. The main character unrelated to rdr 1 and 2 stories. Maybe the Dutch's gang people just random event or stranger we meet during the story.

Or combine the RDR and GTA with the prohibition era game. Jack Marston as stranger event found peace and happiness in life.

Hope R* never goes to vampyr, zombie, fantasy, robot, scifi genre.

Little offtopic, but what would be the theme and era if the game is not the mould of RDR or GTA.

LA Noire wasn't even made by R* and it's a linear crime solving game. I am talking about more of a True Crime style game. I love the Midnight Club series, but it's never been able to compete with bigger racing titles like Forza or GT.

In my opinion Midnight Club 3 or LA beats any modern racing game, actually, any racing game period, ever, But it's just my opinion.

LA Noire was in fact partially developed by Rockstar, and was an open world game.

Regardless, what I am saying is they have already tried both those things you have talked about lol.

If they were to do something truly new for them, maybe an open world pirate game. Or a dinosaur game.

If they wanna make a new Red Dead game, they should do what they've been doing with the GTA games - create a new universe with new characters and stories.

The only direction they can go is backwards.

I'm thinking a story like this would be awesome- so it's Civil War time.

So you are the son of a wealthy plantation owner, with many slaves. The war starts, and you are enlisted in the Confederacy. In game we get to take part in a few large set pieces of battles at the beginning. Somewhere early on your character goes through some kind of enlightenment that makes him realize the way he was raised is wrong, and so he goes rouge. His story carries him through the war and beyond as he fights against the Confederacy but not as a soldier, as an Outlaw.

End game with a showdown, the father and son duel.

Idk something like that. I'm mostly thinking about the big battlefield sequences that would make for spectacular gameplay/visuals.

Civil War, Mexican-American war, be part of the Alamo or a soldier hunting down Santa Anna, Indian Wars-take part on both sides or a game of one side then a game of the other, Bunch of stuff they could do with places like Tombstone and such.

Have to remember-the American West/Cowboys times took place in about 30 years IIRC, not a long span of time.

Typically the "wild west" era is considered to be from about 1783-1912 or 1920. So well over 100 years.

Really?  Interesting, my understanding is it is considered from shortly after the Civil War to about 1890 or so.   I am not a Historian, unless you want to know about Fossils of the Texas Cost up to Iowa.  lol

Rockstar will probably take it to when arthur met dutch and hosea. Would be neat but i would not care if we actually got a completely new story with new characters. Very interested to know what is rockstars next game and will it release this console gen or the next?

I like this.

I would change Father to Uncle. An Uncle who is of a high Rank in the Confederates while your Father over sees the family Plantation.

You could have a really adult story told about the horrors of Slavery and some really brutal scenes. They could keep the loyalty idea where you are loyal to your family and Father but you know that Slavery is wrong. Have you enlist, get wounded and then nursed back to health by an escaped Black family in hiding even after seeing your uniform which only strengthens your idea that Slavery is wrong. The family is then discovered and are executed in front of you on your Uncles orders despite your pleading and telling the truth that they saved you.

You then build up an Outlaw Gang of your own of disillusioned soldiers and former slaves.

It’ll hopefully be a good while until the next Red Dead game. ”Old west”/Civil War era sounds brilliant, save for the lack of more modern weaponry.

It is an interesting point in time right now as we have no idea what R* plans to do next, or when.

I’m mostly hoping for Agent in a few years, or a continual of Wild Metal Country. 1970’s Cold War á la R* sounds too good to be true, especially with a big map spanning over several countries, AND in a European setting for once. And it’d be interesting to see how R* would create a modern sci-fi action/RPG - Wild Metal Country has great potential as such.

Then of course, there’s Bully and Midnight Club, but they’re further down on my list.

i want a rdr set in prohibition time which was technically the last outlaw era where u play as jack marston whos just returning home from ww1 and working for archer fordham who is a blackwater official at this time. archer knows what the gov did to jacks dad and wants to lead jack on the right path but jack starts working with moonshiners, rising crime families (think boardwalk empire) and becomes a hitman for the government and crime bosses as well. jack would eventually become public enemy number one like john dillinger or he could be a good guy.

or id either want a rdr game set in the 1860/70s where you play as a freed slave man in the west (think of django) trying to track down his family or a native american outlaw.

I think there's some real difficulty with what next. RDRII felt a bit like a 'goodbye' at the end.

I'd say for the next Red Dead game there's a massive hurdle in going outside of the John Marston story, as John Marston was a major character in both RDR 1 and 2. However, his story is done.

Controversial opinion but leave Red Dead as it is and move on I say. They've caused themselves some real trouble by making 1 and 2 so heavily linked that a completely separate 3rd would stand out as a bit weird.

I think they should explore after RDR2. Theres a gap in the timeline where John joins Dutch again. 1900-1906 thats where I think the next red dead will take place.

I mean I could see that but like.. People keep forgetting theres a 6 year gap in the timeline... JOHN JOINS DUTCH AGAIN I know it sounds crazy but its what happens for RDR1 to be canonical. 1900-1906ish he joins dutch again so the failed robbery of 1906 where John gets left for dead takes place. This is a point where we can fully see dutch lose faith in everything and even himself. Also this would have too end with John watching dutch "Die" even tho he actually is but he is rumored to have died in a fire in 1906. The Redemption series is the story of the Dutch's gang I could see them going back too about 15 years from RDR2. The gang would have been further north west. So california or new mexico. But theres a lot of talk of that time period in RDR2 between the gang.. The golden years of Dutch would be a great red dead.

I dont think so.. Think about it you have a kid and a girl and need money desperately and you only know one way of making it.. So you go back too the people that taught you everything you know.. Im sure Dutch would accept him back.

I could see Charles staying with Dutch but Sadie not so much. Im sure Micah would've made up some BS on how it was Arthur that went crazy. Charles and John would know thats a bunch of bullsh*t and I could see them doing something about it but before that could happen John gets shot in the failed robbery..  BTW I doubt that could be retconned because that was the entire basis for RDR1. "I left the gang after the gang left me" IN 1906! Dutch doesnt go as crazy as I can see him getting
