Fugitive21
So I had the agony yesterday of finding the legendary fox. Tracked it and killed it. Now on top of that about 6 perfect pelts on my horse. Heading back to camp I get jumped by some random guys in the woods and my horse goes bonkers. The game would not let me jump off my horse to defend. Dead Come back all pelts gone. An hour tracking this fox all for nothing. Anybody know what is the respawn time for them? Still cant find skunks or beavers.
Revrico
Legendary pelts automatically goop to the trapper. Everything else you lose when you die. What I'm curious about is why some animals aren't showing up on my map at all, even when I'm standing exactly where they should be. Coyote and elk come to mind first. I found that rarely are they exactly on the spot you see on the map. Try going in a spiral out from that location until you get the notice that you're in the area. If you don't see the first clue once in the area, spiral again until you do. If the game tells you there's too much activity, camp and sleep a little, then try again. I didn't linger around once I had the kill. Straight to the closest coach and right to Saint Denis. Probably not that important, since you're only losing out on a some money if you lose the pelt. It was just the principle of the matter.

I've ridden and walked through the areas shown on the powerpyx guide, as well as some YouTube videos, and there is no mention of a legendary animal anywhere near the locations. Even starting from very far away and sneaking in, spiraling in and out, camping, nothing is making them register.
Nutduster
Pro tip, save after after every significant hunting achievement, just in case. Wanna be able to reload with your pelts intact if the worst happens. But as mentioned, it should not be possible to lose the legendary pelt. The other perfects, yes. Satanta
Yeah. Got the Legendary Bear on a particular Mission but had a Wanted on me. Got to the Trapper and asn soon as I dismounted and opened the 'Se'' screen the Trapper takes off running, his shop closes down and my horse bolts then 6 Bounty Hunters pop out of the trees and turn me into Swiss Cheese. After i returned from the Dead the pelt was gone but I found it at the Trapper later on. Good tip on Saving after good kills such as Perfect or pristine in order to not lose those pelts in case of issues. I was riding back to camp with a 14lb Pike on my horse last night and some idiots tried to Shanghai me on a Brige. Duel weilding those sawed offs helped tho I wish we could load barrels individually rather than having to pick either or ammo-first out would be Buckshot, second out a slug. Some legendaries I found almost a half mile away maybe more from their map location. Leave the area. Do something else and come back later or a different time of day and see if you can spawn them in that way. Or even save and reload the game from that save.
