RDRO feature Speculation based of Online achievements

Recommended Posts

DreadedSilverback

So was basically looking through achievement to see what I still had to do and found these toward the bottom. I think These can give us a pretty good idea off what we might expect from online gameplay. Game features seem to include some form of crafting system, a return of the posse system , personal camps (one can hope these are completely usable by all members of your posse), as well as in world NPC's for quest giving hopefully something more involved then the previous simple mission system in GTAO. It also seems you will be able to have at least 5 horses and possible your own stable or some such. All in all as someone who was rather cynical about the potential of RDRO. I at the moment have a little more hope with the discovery of this information.

(I have also listed all the online achievements bellow for your reference)

[ Breakout ] - Complete the intro

[ Series Major ] - Take part in a Series

[ Gun for Hire ] - Accept 10 Free Roam missions from characters around the world

[ Eventful ] - Play 5 Free Roam Events

[ Buckle Up ] - Achieve 5 gold belt buckles From awards

[ The Real Deal ] - Achieve MVP 3 times (in a round with a least 4 players)

[ Horses for Courses ] - Concurrently own 5 horses

[ Getting Started ] - Reach rank 10

[ Notorious ] - reach Rank 50

[ All’s Fair ] - Successfully counter a rival Posse’s Free Roam mission

[ Home Comforts ] - Purchase 5 camp Improvements

[ Non-Regulation ] - Craft 25 pieces of ammunition

[ Posse Up ] - Form A persistent posse

[ Master Craftsmen ] Craft 20 Items (Excluding Ammo)

[ Butchered ] - Sell 20 items to the Butcher

[ Picked to Perfection ] - Pick 25 herbs

[ Strength in Numbers ] - Complete a Free Roam mission as part of a posse with at least 2 members

"Persistent Posse" is the most intriguing thing here for me.

Perhaps something like what the Organization/MC system from GTAO ought to have been, a way to pool resources, grant access to your personal assets even when you're offline, establish a group presence that doesn't just disappear when the mode is deactivated etc? Something I'd love to see and completely in keeping with the theme of outlaws banding together.

That's just the crew system in RDO.

There are a few game services I found that I haven't seen on GTA Online.

GetTopFeuders
GetTopRivals
GetFeudStats

It seems like you can get into a long-standing hostility with other crews, like two families that hate each other for so long but won't cause harm or violence to each other.

A roleplay of Romeo and Juliet

Looks like awards are coming but, but belt buckles rather than tattoos or t-shirts.

Also, at-least 5 horse stables. (Or garages?)

I was thinking more along the lines of Hatfields v. Mccoys...

Unless you plan on falling in love with a member of the opposing posse. I'm not judging.

So, basically, Organizations/MC Crews that last longer than one session? Interesting.

I was referring to the roleplay community, someone is going to make a video of " Romeo and Juliet" roleplay if this feature is confirmed.

Yes, like crews in GTA Online.

All I'm hoping is that we don't each have to buy every little thing invidiually and gangs can actually pool resources maybe have a collection box like IN Campaign

I feel having no hunting would be like removing 40-50% of the game. The trophy supports hunting being there and RDR1 had hunting (but no selling pelts in multiplayer) so i reckon there will be animals in online with hunting

"Purchase 5 improvements for camp" I wonder if we will have npc camp members like cooks and others in our online camps like sp, would feel a bit strange to go from a full camp of people to just having you and an empty camp around you

Really leery of that "Breakout" one, since it sounds like the tutorial is based around players being broken out of prison. Way too specific, IMO, and also means that everyone is an outlaw, regardless of whether that's what they want to do/be or not. :rol:

Would be a lot better if we could just roll up in town, step off the boat/train/stagecoach/whatever (so basically a repeat of GTAO!), and start finding whatever gainful employment however we choose. That way, if you want to play as, say, a German dentist turned bounty hunter, or some other more lawful type, or ...heck, a washed up actor who winds up becoming a real-life heroic gunslinger, you're free to do whatever takes your fancy.

I mean, sheet - if I wanted to have my character's backstory/personality/morality/occupation/nationality/whatever defined by R* instead of me, I'd just ...play single-player RDR/RDR2 again... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That would mean I won't spend 1 single second online.

Yea tbh I'm really hoping your not just saddled in to going down the renegade path. While something like that kinda made sense in GTA  , Red dead is more ambiguous. (hell 2 out of the 3 protagonists aren't even criminals ) I've been hoping from the start that there is some form of cops and robbers dynamic. An honourable and dishonourable side that gives people an actual choice on whether or not they want to be violent criminals or just like a rancher or trapper. Though unfortunately given the type of people that made up a majority of gta online players and the already rumoured inclusion of things like gatling gun wagons, that is kind of a pipe dream. I do remember the devs saying they wanted to have you to have an "intimate relationship with your character" or something like that and talks about expanding story based missions in online but chances are that may just be marketing BS. The fact that we're less then 2 weeks out from the end of the month and haven't heard a thing about online makes me feel like they're gonna do same sh*t they pulled with GTA whole lot of promises then go silent while sh*t falls apart. This all being said the base game does have the infrastructure to do some reaaaally dope sh*t in the online space but given Take 2 is motivated seems by corporate greed and not the desire to produce high quality games. I remain hopeful that the community will scare them into making the right decisions but given I had a dude literally tell me , "the only way he would have fun was for RDR online to be as broken as GTA online was" chances are that may not happen either. I want this sh*t to be good but i'm also not under any delusions that it won't be more of the same sh*t.

While I agree that RDO should have a more ”holistic” approach meaning it should be up to us whether we want to be good or bad and not

like GTAO where everyone’s a criminal from the start (and eventually becomes saviors of the world hrm hrm lets scratch that for the sake of argument), and that it might not make sense to start out with a breakout of prison...

...the more you learn about the west the clearer it becomes that the roles never seemed properly defined, meaning sometimes the Pinkertons, lawmen and bounty hunters were just as much ”bad men” as the outlaws were and had the circumstances only been a little different, they’d have been the ones being chased by the law and not the other way around. So even if you want to play as a good guy bounty hunter, a sheriff or any kind of lawman, it could still make sense for you to break out of a prison at some point. Just food for thought. Besides, everyone in prison is innocent, lol.

Thats actually a really good point and hopefully it will have that level of depth (really want to play as a kind of renegade bounty hunter) but comparing how stripped away GTAO felt compared to GTA 5 , the compete lack of any real info on RDR2 despite the end of the month being little over a week away , its hard to feel hopeful only thing that keeps me from righting it off is the fact that they actually got proper servers this time around so less likely chance people are going to hack the system and that hunt and selling pelts is gonna be a thing really hope I'm wrong and RDRO is a game changing multiplayer experience but I guess we shall see

The 'Breakout' achievement just says to complete the introduction. It doesn't say you break out of jail, even though that's most likely. There's at least a small chance that you can be a lawman during a jailbreak, or the even less likely scenario of  a lawman breaking out of hostage situation, or something similar to that.

That would actually be a pretty cool idea, having the game start with a massive jailbreak and you can decide which side of you wish to start on set up your character and go from there

I'm guessing the honor system will be used--so if you want to shed the outlaw reputation and be a good guy, Rockstar will be happy to, uh, make that status available to you for some coinage. *sigh*

I'll be happy just to play the intro without Lamar spewing his arrogant BS all over it.

Granted, I have noticed a couple of period/setting-appropriate angles where one could be an "outlaw" for something as simple as ...existing, so there is at least room to have a character be good, noble, honourable, etc., and still get thrown in the slammer when a lawman so much as looks at them.

It's not ideal for anyone wanting to go the King Schultz route, as 'gun for hire' instead of 'outlaw', but it's at least something, for folk who don't want to constantly pretend that all the story stuff is their character having some trippy fever dream... :turn:
