What are you spending most of your time on?

Just curious how folks are playing this game.  Are you blasting through story missions (or done with them already)?  Do you hunt?  Do you hunt O'Driscolls?  Do you spend any time in towns or are you a wilderness sort?  Maybe you live half your life in St. Denis and walk around all dudded up?

Me, I am slowly turning into Grizzly Adams or something.  I got hooked on hunting through trying to unlock all of Pearson's specialty satchels.  Now seemingly every time I fire up the game, I pick a remote spot on the map that is teeming with wildlife, and spend 2-3 hours there collecting pelts, feathers, meat and the odd carcass.  I just had a thorough look at all the stuff the trapper needs to craft me some hunter clothes, and that is sure to keep me busy for a long while now that I'm almost done with Pearson.  And I don't even mind.  About once a day I get tired of it and do a mission or two, and if I run across stranger encounters or an O'Driscoll camp in my travels I'll take care of it, but basically 90% of my game experience right now is peering through binoculars for perfect pelts, creeping around silently with my Springfield rifle and bow, and taking down critter after critter.

Currently spending my time up in the Grizzlies and WE, doing the hunting stuff for those outfits at the trapper...i'm loving every moment so far!

Yeah I'm also hunting stuff for the trapper/pearson. I think it's captivating because of the amount of species are rarity of some of them. It feels like we are for real hunting.

Also fishing is my main gig right now. Can't get enough of it.

I try to do one mission a day, maybe two if I stay up late. Gonna a take months to finish the story lol.

Been playing since launch. I'm still in chapter 2. I want to fully upgrade my camp before I do much anything else. So I spend my time doing chores in camp and hunting for materials to donate to the camp. I haven't even been taught to fish yet....

Sounds like me and you are playing about the same way.  I've been hunting to unlock the legend of the east satchel.

You sound exactly like me.

Speaking of fishing, can you tell me how or when that gets unlocked? I know I could just go beat some poor sap down and steal his fishing rod, but I'm through a good chunk of chapter 2 - I figured I would have hit the mission that officially trains you to do it by now.

Totally. I am literally one pelt away now - just need a cougar.

One of the last missions in chapter 2. Make sure that you talk to Abigail and comply with her request. If you miss it (not sure if it can be missed tbh) then one of the first missions in Chapter 3 is also fishing.

I’m so conflicted and often find my next activity is decided for me as I’m easily distracted in this game.

I am still not past chapter two and holding off on the Marston train robbery...I am almost done upgrading the camp though.

It depends where I left off on my last session but typically it's mission-f*ck around-mission for me. In between missions I like to ride around at night and investigate campfires if they belong to gangs or heathens I'll dispatch them if they are civilians I'll keep moving. I'm a bit of a good guy so I never rob the innocent and rarely kill them.

Story is complete, well, the first one. It has lots of differences so I'll be playing it often though.

Fishing right now, just wrapped up the legendary fish, and I want a complete log of all, at least 10+ of each to see if we find and bigger regular fish in case we can have fun there competing maybe.

Hunting too, keen to have a true 100% on all that with the trapper, but it's far more long term and I know I'll enjoy that more for longer.

Fist fighting and robbing folk in back alleys in Saint Denis is fun. Losing the fuzz while hoping fences reminds me if simpler times too much. ;)

This sounds like fun definitely gonna do this tonight once I get home. Just wish you could knock them out instead of killing them or am I missing something?

Right now, i'm focusing on completing all the exotic quests and hunting requests.

Once i'm done with them, i try to complete some challenges for herbalism and gambling.

I don't use fast travel and play this game at a slow pace, doing all the side stuff, before advancing the story.

I'm on my second playthrough. Currently spending all my time in the mountains hunting. Gonna have to advance the story soon though to unlock the trapper.

Fist fights tend to end with a death, but the robbing folk up can have varied results. Threaten and scare off, or execute too. :)

Finished the main story, now I just wander the map with my horse. See what comes up, whether it's helping some random or doing a bounty in town. Whatever work I get my hands on.

Completed the main game and epilogues. Now just hunting the legendary animals and any stranger missions not done while playing through as Arthur. And working on the ranch. Pretty much it.

I beat the game last Sunday (believe it was the 29th?) with all missable story missions done and so on. Ever since then I've been trying to 100% it, now I'm finally just doing the remaining 30 challenges and I'm all done. The one I was worried the most about were the gambler ones since it all requires luck, got all 10 done in literally 4 hours. Should be smooth sailing from here and then I'll start my second playthrough.

I'm four pelts away from the satchel, then I move on to getting the trapper all the pelts he needs. I've only completed one mission in chapter 3. I've been hunting and roaming for so long I feel like I'm forgetting what's happening in the story.

I'm currently at  20% side missions 20% main missions . the rest is hunting bitds to craft arrows and explosive rounds (geese and ducks for fat) , hunting legendary animals and trying to get some perfect pelts . Loving this game though . just finished chapter 3

Fishing - which sucks donkey ass

And hunting - which also sucks, trying to study animals. Which is quite tricky for birds

I was doing a lot of robbing and eating.

Now I'm hunting... robbing and eating.

Mainly hunting right now though.

Started chapter 6 and I'm gonna stall the story for a while to go back to hunting and fishing. Been doing that a lot in the first week and some, but got sucked into the story for the past few days much more.

I've been going through my second playthrough. I made a deal with myself that i'd upgrade all arthur's satchels, and all camp upgrades. I got all of arthur's satchels, and i spent probably about 5 hours looking for a moose. I just found one and now those antlers are looking nice strung up on a tree :)

People do not die in a fist fight, they always end up knocked out.

"Fighting with your fists can be useful when ammo is sparse, or to avoid drawing unwanted attention. It also works well when non-lethal methods are required, such as robbery or intimidation. Get up close and beat your enemies into submission, or incorporate a bladed melee weapon if you're out for blood."

I'm at chapter 4 at the very last mission. i did it once but loaded back again once i saw how chapter 5 was.
So i decided to do all challenges and unlocks now. because i dont want to find an awesome outfit for a character I no longer gonna use when i have completed the story.

So i do everything else than main story.
