Are cut-scenes counted as part of the mission time?

It sure feels like it but I can't confirm it myself. If so, that's just really bad design on Rockstars part, there's no reason for it.

My understanding is yes. To win some of those challenges that are time based, you have to skip the cutscenes.

That has always been the case -- at least dating back to GTA5 and RDR1.

That's correct, in GTA V it counted, so assume that it does too in RDR2. You had to skip cutscenes to get the gold medals.

I dont know why R* does this, a cutscene isnt  gameplay time. I mean its of course gameplay but you are just watching a cutscene. Started with TBOGT.  What ever happened to doing the mission however you freely wanted?? Hate it because my OCD is 100% gold medals & completion.

Ironically, in TBoGT you COULD watch the cutscenes and still get 100%. Cutscenes being counted within the time started with RDR1 and continued with GTA V. Rockstar just got lazy with coding that particular part, it seems. Per

 

Only the first cutscene in Frosting on the Cake in TBoGT was glitched so the time was counted over there, but every other one was perfectly fine.

On my first playthru I didn't care about gold medals, I was just interested in the story. I'll aim to get everything 100% on the 2nd one though.

I'm going for the gold medals mainly for the trophies and I wouldn't mind so much about the cut-scenes if the replay system wasn't so god awful.

 

I haven't found an option to just restart the mission, if you fail or abandon the mission it only gives you the option to restart from the last checkpoint which is pointless because it invalidates most of the mission requirements.

 

They're also way harder during replays because you get basic weapons, basic character/horse stats and no dead eye tonics.

 

For that reason I just manually save before each mission, enjoy the mission first time around and then redo it after to go for gold, it's much better.

Yeah, I know the time didnt count on cutscenes, but why did they implement the 100% or gold medals. I mean I love replay ability, but having an OCD er forces me to do it 100 or gold medal. what happened to doing the mission how you wanted??

Beacuse without 100% Gold completion you never gonna get eligible to play RDR 2 online...

Just kidding, but i think "Gold completion" of the main story maybe gives you special bonuses in RDR 2 online
