RDR1 Online content you don’t want

We Are Ninja

In it's earlier years, GTAO was a phenomenal experience, but as time progressed, the game developed a litany of balancing issues. It started with the Zentorno and snowballed into the Hydra and Oppressors... I don't think that we'll have to deal with anything like those vehicles (unless R* releases a fire-breathing Pegasus as DLC)... While I fully expect an old-timey equivalent to BST in the form of some rare herb or hallucinogenic or something, I really don't want to see bullet-proof headwear and jiggle-sniping return. Those two things combined really hurt GTAO, IMO. So help me, iIf a bullet-proof cowboy hat becomes available in the General Store, I'm gonna lose my sh*t.

What other things do you not want to see brought to RDR2O whenever it drops?

Single Player content that's been gutted to be put in online instead. Yes I'm still Angry about that & will be till proven otherwise with RDR2.

Bad server optimisation. Was so bad at the start that gave up on it & never touched it again. Which I guess is a bonus after hearing about the Shark Cards.

Oh. Punishment Lobbies. Like seriously, just hearing about those makes me laugh & not even want to try RDRO Even if server optimisation is good. You're online & you get punished in a game that requires conflict 😂

Map alerts. If you want my goods come get them but you should have find me first.

A better muting system so I don't have to listen to idiots.

Let me decide how to transport my goods. No old West version of a Post Op van.

Online exclusive content.

Vehicles, outfits, weapons locked behind online only..

How hard is it to throw them into shops on singleplayer as well?

I don't want to always at any time be able to see where every player is, maybe if they're within range and firing, but not even then I think.

- PvP-centric design across the board.  I'm really hoping they incorporate more cooperative play.  It feels like a huge missed opportunity that you never get rewarded in GTA Online for helping other random players, and the game is such a toxic disaster zone because they instead do exactly the opposite (incentivize griefing and trolling).  They really only encourage coop in free roam in a couple of ways: 1) the CEO and biker orgs, which often end very badly when you play with randoms, and the pay is so bad that most people won't bother working for you; and 2) things like Headhunter and Gang Attacks, where players become unable to kill each other and have to fight a common enemy.  That's it.  They could do so much more and it would make the game much more fun, I think.  Some of my best GTA Online memories are from randomly helping people, or having them randomly help me, but all the pointless battles blur together into a giant black wad.

- A general design based around money, and microtransactions that give you more money.  I know this model was wildly successful (from a business standpoint) for GTA Online so I know they are likely to repeat it, but I think it's the source of most of the game's biggest problems and I really am not looking forward to round 2.  I know microtransactions of some sort are a certainty, but paying for cash (that you can also earn) to buy in-game stuff is a design that is rotten at its core.  I would much rather have unique items (mostly or entirely cosmetic) that have to be bought with real cash - that's also got a certain amount of crappiness but at least it wouldn't poison the well.

Agree with everyone here. I hope that the model for the multiplayer is aimed towards co-operative play also.
That and no more advertisements whilst we play. I don't mind them being on the loading screens but I swear to god if I have a 'check the telegraph office, you have new mail' every ten minutes in RDO its going to be very indicative of where Rockstar will take RDO as it progresses.

R* has only gotten better at making online games. GTAO was a huge ambitious undertaking whether you liked it or not, but they did make lots of mistake. All we can do is hope they learn from their mistakes and don't turn it into another cash cow.

I wouldn't be opposed to microtransactions again. They just need to be careful with the content they add to try and sell them. That's where GTAO suffered. All updates revolved around the sales of shark cards.

The crappy matchmaking sysyem, peer 2 peer servers, the game focusing too much on shark card sales, unbalanced pvp, overpowered items etc

Alright I have quite a few things in mind -

Passive Mode, you can choose to fight or not too. But being able to literally turn into a ghost that is immune to other players? It doesn't make any sense. I don't want to be hunting for example and then a person in passive mode walks over, starts scaring animals, etc.... and you can't do anything about it. It simply doesn't fit at all.

Insurance, I don't want to have to pay for killing someone elses horse. In this case, they could just make the horses respawnable with no cost, maybe a slight cooldown between horse deaths but seriously, insurance would be fully stupid.

Content locked to MP. There's no reason why this content shouldn't be in singleplayer too. They lock it to MP so people who play on console must buy it on MP to even get a chance of driving a certain car for example. Real scumbag like imo.

Game wide alerts, there's literally no reason why someone should immediately know what I'm doing. Let's give an example, you sell cargo in GTA online. One could make an argument and say someone caught wind of the deal or it's an inside job or something and that's how other players know about your sale or whatever. However, in RDROnline, if they have something simliar, it makes no sense how everyone would know as there wasn't mobile phones or anything in them times.

Future of Weaponized vehicles, It seems GTA Online tries to go even further with weaponized vehicles. Now I don't want their to be a fully armored carriage with armored horses and a turret on it or a cannon or anything ridiculous like that.

No real incentive to play co-cooperatively. People in free mode shoot first and also shoot later. Literally majority of my encounters in FM consisted of someone immediate opening fire, taking cover (as others didn't trust anyone either), throwing sticky bombs or trying to kill people with weaponized vehicles. Now thankfully, there won't be any jets or anything so no one can just come over from anywhere real fast and bomb you but i think it would be beneficial maybe to add some sort of honor system perhaps?

Ammo Count, I think there should have been a much lower cap on explosives as it made lots of fights rather tedious imo.

That's the main things i can think of for the moment but yea, there's a lot which i think shouldn't carry over.

Business. I don't want to do the same thing I've been doing for the last 2 f*cking years, it gets repetitive real fast. If they are going to implement business, at least be creative and reformulate the entire thing.

Weaponised crap. A minigun on a train or something I expect, but no flying pap or RPG's. (No explosive rounds on crap like Hydra's or Bikes, not that I anticipate any, but after GTA:O's ways I'm cautious. Deluxo as an Easter egg at most, never to be seen anywhere but stuck in a cave).

Public only/an emphasis on attacking others that are hampered by the task at hand including not being a big flashing target on the minimap. (Come find me!).

EWO. (Just petty).

Freemode K/D. (Keep for DM's or other modes of course).

Passive mode. (Either lobby choice or if it comes, proper cooldowns).

Cloud simulator. (Billions made, use some).

Pestering to buy content I might not want. (Something like those phone calls).

Huge buy-ins or money sinks like research. (Don't mind prices naturally rising realistically of course, a mansion should cost more than an little house in the hood).

Near unlimited ammo in my back pocket.

Buying ammo from inventory.

Catch up in races.

Probably something to ease the kicking, but with free choice, it'll be less an issue, and passive income only encourages AFK play too much with how much a grind it is. Better balance all round really. ;)

Ahh, anything that resembles kerb boosting.

One thing I disliked in GTAO was off limit outfits like police and military outfits. I hope we can play as any role in RDR2 Online. (no restrictions/more freedom)

Those missions were just overglorified fetch quests and they dont need to be in rdr2..

Also, plz no game wide notifications...nobody has to know what im doing

The friggin stupid , stupid match making. If there is 1 thing i really do not want to see from GTAVO is the stupid way they handle matchmaking, inviting , etc. Its just flat out the worst of any online game i've played.

The annoying little 13-year old kids who like to fly in Deluxos and Oppressors, The K/D warriors, and Garbage YouTubers. I hope that the games slower pacing will make them leave with their short attention spans.

I just want an even playing field where skill and strategy will won the day. I don't want to deal with dlc that makes me upgrade to the newest over powered junk. I really hope that balance is achieved. I realize they'll be pushing horse apples or whatever the sharkcard equivalent is but not at the cost of fairness. I also hope my gta bestie's cult YouTube following stays out of it.

What I Don't Want In Red Dead Redemption Online

  1.  12 year olds
  2.  Bulletproof anything
  3.  Microtransactions
  4.  Shark Cards - It'll more than likely mean no gambling online
  5.  A function similar to Merryweather - No unlimited armored stagecoaches with gatling guns sort of sh*t
  6.  Public lobby only jobs/missions that encourage randoms to troll or f*ck with you
  7.  12 year olds
  8.  A F2P-P2W scheme like GTAO has - i.e. No $12,000 cowboy hats or insanely expensive weapons/ammo when a 45 min job only pays us $5.80
  9.  A lack of activities that are available in SP - i.e. No fishing or hunting or things like that
  10.  The average GTAO player - i.e. 12 year olds

This is probably the most important thing to me. Balance. A level playing field. One without OP, cash-grab vehicles and exploitable mechanics (like passive mode abuse).

I can already see the Armored Kuruma Coach now. Matte black with metal plating and slits to shoot out of...

I just want the economy to be balanced. I dont want to grind a mission 20x just so i can have enough to buy a shirt. Hopefully the mission payouts are balanced or scaled as you level up.

Commander S

- cheap/unimaginative character customisation

- public-freemode-only activities/updates

- entire updates locked behind a themed 'paywall' property

- increased emphasis on PvP

- realistic/immersive features from single-player increasingly carved out and replaced with nonsensical gimmicks

- bigger and bigger updates, but with 'sheer volume of New Stuff™' coming at the expense of quality control

- new content/activites pushing all players into the one style of character/play

- no thought given as to how each subsequent update will fit in with the existing game 'ecosystem'

- no thought given as to how stacking patch upon patch upon patch will negatively impact the stability/functionality of the game...
