wagszilla
In Red Dead Redemption 2, there's a blind beggar that Arthur calls a prophet in his journal. He is this games version of The Strange Man. You pay him $1.00 each time you see him and he'll basically spell out the entire plot of the game for you. "A dollar for your future... a dollar for your fate." "Be not afraid... I see only true things" "Be a wise man... be a fool for love" "You didn't run from last we spoke, sir, you didn't run far enough" "Your whole life, sir, you have followed the wrong star" "Don't waste anymore time with a old blind man, go out there and become who you are" "You are not who you think you are, sir, which is lucky." "It's no use hoping, your father is seduced by the one with the forked tongue... it's no use hoping" "Be warned, sir, be warned. Surrounded by fields of fire and flesh, the devil will make his sacrifice" "Be warned, sir. Do not sleep too deeply. The man with no nose is coming for you." "Even when all reason is lost, and all truth has become lie, you will stand firm for loyalty is both your saving and your curse." "Your whole life has been one of regret... but it can end better than it began" "You will not like what comes next but after... paradise" "You have learned what matters. All else is lies This summarizes Arthur's life: an abusive father leading him to falling in with a gang and following Dutch who has been seduced by the one with the forked tongue, the devil. Dutch betrays Arthur in the Heartland Oil Fields and the man without a nose, death, comes for him shortly thereafter. Arthur thinks lowly of himself but others, namely the nun see him as the kind, generous, and thoughtful person he is. In the end, provided you play honorably, Arthur finds peace and redemption by acts of love and service to others. The Blind Man even tells John: "They will come for you, friend, and when they do you will not have a choice. You have lived better than most." Shadowfennekin
Yeah, I didn't realize until later. Fun fact, I actually stabbed him early on and looted his corpse..... he came back, he really is the Strange Man. Both can't seem to die Boozey St John and Copcaller

AUScowboy
There's a few like this. Anybody else find the Mad Preacher who first appears near Tumbleweed and can later be found west of Valentine? He's another gem. Boozey St John

I heard someone say The Blind Man's name the other day but I didn't have subtitles on and it was just out of earshot. But there is also a Preacher in the water near the first hideout. He wants to hear God's voice and is waiting for him. I ran into him again with John and he's still waiting.
wagszilla
I saw The Blind Man today. He said something like "palm trees and beaches... seek the black flower". I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. I thought Vice City for the first part and the Black Currant I've read about online but yeah no idea with this one. Jason
He could be referencing chapter 5. I doubt people have really explored that area properly.

Possibly but most of the comments come out as the story progresses. I've already beat the game. It doesn't make sense it'd reference an area you can't return to and that was a surprise in the first place. But whatever it is, I wonder if it's a secret easter egg. You might be right, but it wouldn't shock me if Rockstar put a long-game easter egg into the game where you had to do things in certain areas. As far as I've been able to google it seems he is "Blind Man Cassidy". That black flower thing; since I've only really started hanging out with the guy after John became a thing, I just kinda assumed the black flower meant Abigail, with her black hair. wagszilla
I have no idea what this means but I think I found what Blind Man Cassidy was talking about. Inside the drawer was the "Ancient Necklace". No idea what that is either I'm gonna return after I get 100%. Jason
Good find, hmm. I've actually been to that place and got the necklace but never noticed the flower (though it was before I knew about it). Surely there's more to it.

anasha-hime
I've met him twice. The first time he said that line about fields of fire. The second time he said "Make your last moments count. No glory and forget about shame". It was in chapter 6. also that black flower find got me shook...
Edwin
So I was setting free a prisoner in a couch when I was passing bye the blind man and after letting the prisoner free I went to the blind man but he was in a fetal position and said something like “I sense bad energy returning, get away”. After that I marked the area in my map and returned later but when I aproached the man went into that fetal position again. I’m still in chapter 2, you think I gotta wait for chapter 3 or a few more in game days? I really wanna talk to him
Cutter De Blanc
Met him in Chapter 4, he says "You have followed the wrong star. You need to go." Met him again a little while later, hadn't advanced the story and he tells me, "you need to make a decision soon and if you don't it will be made for you" Dude creeps me the f*ck out Edited November 17, 2018 by Cutter De Blanc
Qbert
He told me the end is near sooner than I would like actually or something like that...he was right. White Shark
I knew early on this blind man would be given hints to what was to come. The man with no nose stumped me though. Is that a representation of Death then?

Most likely as the depiction of death is generally the grim reaper which is a hooded skeleton and skeletons have no nose. Also I still see this guy as John Marston and he still tells me things like "You're one of the lucky ones" and other stuff like that. Qbert
I wonder if he is referring to that flower at Arthur's camp in that jar. I examined it before clearly it wasn't black but I looked at it at the beginning of the game and never looked at it again. I wonder if it changes colors or blooms/dies as the game goes on? wagszilla
I peeked in the same room in RDO and the flower is still there. Haven't been back since I 100%ed. Outside of the crafted trapper pelts, I've done everything in the game, I think. Edited December 14, 2018 by wagszilla
OfficialTwiggz
The man with the forked tongue is represented as a snake, not the devil. Montana Actual
First play through I saw him probably chapter 2ish, and I was working my way up the honor ladder. Never cared what he was saying but I did know it tied into the story. Second play through, I shot him in the face as soon as possible. So relieving.
