What's up with train robbery?

Recommended Posts

Cutter De Blanc

Every time I try to steal the train I drive for about 30 seconds and then get instantly wanted, despite being in the middle of nowhere,  and everyone on the train being dead. Am I doing something wrong?

No, it's just that the owners of the train company happen to notice when one of those giant trains go missing. It's not like it's a secret where it is, onnyhe tracks, so you get a wanted status.

Thing is I left the train sitting in the wilderness for a bit, it's only once I reboarded the train it gave me another wanted status. I was standing around after the heat died down to see if the lawmen would reclaim the train, but they rode off, so I figured it was all good

Game mechanics are twitchy and need some fine tuning on a lot of things....try the hunting challenge of killing 5 birds from a train...damn thing cost me about $300

I hopped on the back of the train and became wanted for train robbery, what the hell

Train robberies are one of the things that need tweaking. It’s not consistent with how the other systems usually work. Most likely because the guards are lawmen and identify you and because the reinforcements come much too soon.

Um...they notice HOW exactly? I'm sorry and I dont mean to be rude, but it's annoying how dismissive people are and borderline rude when asking reasonable questions on this forum.

So since it's all just for the sake of realism seems to be what you're implying, please explain. They notice their train is getting robbed HOW?

He didn't rob the train. He stole the train. They notice because a huge piece of machinery is missing lol. When it doesn't get to it's next stop, or flys past it's next stop, or someone noticed the conductor was some cowboy looking guy, is likely when they knew it was stolen.

So the trains owner is sitting in his office somewhere, probably a hundred miles away. You steal his train and....what? He gets an email or something letting him know? Does he have telepathic communication skills?

So you steal it, and within 30 seconds the owner knows ...in the 1800s....interesting theory you presented there. Seems pretty realistic considering that even in 2018 theres no possible way the owner of a train would know it was stolen within 30 seconds.

And you get wanted whether you pass a station/stop or not. Let's be honest, you get wanted because the game wants you to be wanted. Theres nothing realistic about the way it works.

Well they did have telephones already lol.

30 seconds in game is equal to 15 minutes, but it doesn't really matter. Idk, I don't think it's unreasonable that you get a wanted status for stealing a train regardless of how fast it occurs.

Let's be honest for a moment.  Rockstar wanted  levels and enemy AI were always below industry standard.  I like their games no question about it but they constantly continue to ignore some aspects of their games that could use fixing.

RDR2 is better than GTA V by a mile but some of the old design frustrating features are still there and train is a good example.  Wanted level is popping out of nowhere when instead it should happen only if there are witnesses or once you reach next station.

Also, off topic but why we don't have option to slow travel by train and to sit inside where is nice and cozy?

You're right, and that's fair. I'm not looking to start an argument be a jerk. I guess this ultimately boils down to a wanted system complaint.

I feel ya man, but I get a wanted status just for jumping on the train and entering a train car, then the train f*cking comes to a complete stop and I can't get where I'm going. I didn't even want to rob it this time, just wanted to hitch a ride

But did telephones work out of train without being connected?

😂 Because they are told by the programming. I am implying that it is either bugged or the system does not work for train robberies. My guess is lawmen are programmed as a hive mind, but who knows?

Wanted system in this game is my favourite worst nightmare - forever spawning lawmen coming into Red Dead Circle in groups of four, ignoring  anything coming straight at ya hiding behind a wall... it's almost like they always know where you are, right?..

What killed me was Great Planes and dozens of bounty hunters spawning behind your back continuously... And then shooting at you from their revolvers as if they were machine-guns... so much for 'slower paced combat' aye?

And so much for realism with a bullet sponge in form of... every living creature (even worse than in the second half of RDR1 with the Mexican army). Here you need to hit a rabbit in the head with an arrow to  kill it. If you get him in the ear (wow, really? EAR?) or in the body... the rabbit won't die... ever... it will run away... same as every other creature that needs special ammo to actually kill them. And people need 4 bullets to kill them. But they don't react WHATSOEVER when they are hit by your revolver - you shot him in the gut? Not problem. While you shot him three times he can and he will reload his gun... while you shoot him...

Remember! Nobody will fall off their horse if you shoot them once or twice... nobody...

Damn it, Uncle! What you've been doing for eight years? Oh! You've been creating an insanely big and gorgeous world that the player might not even explore to the full. But you forgot about the simple things that the player will meet constantly in the game - combat and wanted systems. And you managed to butcher that. Thanks for the lack of replayability.

What was that? - 'We don't want the game to be too realistic, it has to be fun' said someone from R*. Well, sh*t, it's neither realistic nor fun, goddamnit. I was expecting Max Payne 3 combat, but I got an abomination.

Damnation!

Just forget it, old man.

All things aside (by all things I mean 'weak gameplay') - the story was fantastic and I think it's one of the best westerns of all time.

In this time telegraphs and early telephones only in stations and you must use a crank on the phone to produce enough energy for calling and all and easy block by cut the cables side from the tracks or a rabbit has underholed the cablestack or a swollen river or harsh rainfalls destroyd the cableline and tracks ...train have many problems if the tracks destroyed or damaged ...blocked from falled trees or damaged bridges or a bisonherd of the track  or problems  with the steam engines  and most come hours later .Most a train only found after hours from the next train or starts searching from the next great station with a reserve train.a posse ist most first build after a day or two ... 30 minutes thats the time to pack you own saddlebags for a outdoor mission ..or saddle up you own horse not to build a full outfitted posse for a search mission.

I'm sorry but I don't have any of these problems with hunting rabbits, I mean it's basically one shot one kill no matter where I hit it, I recommend you stop using those regular rounds and load some express, or better yet blow someones head off with a shotgun. Most of these issues don't sound like things you encountered while playing the game, rather testing it when you had the freetime, but I do agree the fact that lawmen just magically find you as long as you're in the red circle has always been utter bullsh*t. But falling off of horses always happens to my enemies when I shoot them with anything from a repeater, shotgun, rifle, or pistol with express rounds. Another thing I have to mention is that I find it absolute rubbish that I can shoot someone on a mountaintop "miles" from any town and if it's witnessed by one man he somehow manages to bring an entire battalion of lawmen after me, but it is a video game after all so some things had to be sacrificed for the rest I assume.
