HOW'S ANNIE?

The SP DLC/Expansion topic

Just gonna throw this out there, in case anybody didn't know you can go to Mexico through a glitch. I went and I think it was originally intended to be in the game. Mexican style music plays when you enter and in Escalera there are ambient noises such as dogs barking at each other which seem to suggest the city was supposed to be there. Also, there are rectangular outlines in the ground in which some buildings were supposed to be.

Also, in the blackwater sheriffs office theres a possible old version of the map with Mexico still included to the south.

I'm looking forward to playing as Arthur again. But not f*cking Zombies! I'm sick of them. Try something new. Vampires or whatever but NOT zombies. Arthur is an incredible protagonist and the only thing that can make me stop missing him is a DLC so I hope we get it. And btw R*, if you wanna release a DLC, release it and if you don't , then don't. Don't leave us hanging because of a lie.

Also I want Hosea back as well.

Nice !!!. Mexico would be great. I'm all for returning there.

I would love to see the RDR1 story be remastered but also be altered in a way. Kind of like a "This is what would have happened if this didn't happen" sort of thing.

That's kind of interesting, especially if they reuse the mortality meter from RDR2 in the game. Maybe it might finally give John more than one ending?

RDR remastered to the game would be epic, and I forgot about Aliens too. That'd be fun but as missions and story, I wouldn't want spaceships glitched into online buzzing about so maybe any they add could just be like buildings or crash sites or something stationary or in cutscenes to be sure.

Just like GTA though, the ideas here are gonna be fun to read. :)

Nulla Lex Ink.

I've got a few ideas I think could be reasonable add-ons. Spoiler marking all of them, just in case.

Spoiler

-Two expansions that cover the time between 1899 and 1907. One follows Sadie, another follows Charles. I feel like we could get some good stories from those years.

-An expansion where you play as Mac or Davey that takes place before the game and ultimately culminates in the Blackwater heist, or heck, maybe even ends before it so that those events are always shrouded in mystery. I feel like this one is probably the most likely to happen, if we get single player DLC, though I don't know who you could play as in post game other than Arthur, if the final heist is included.

-Another expansion that covers the time between 1899 and 1907, this one focusing on Javier and Bill with one being the player character. The both of them were still loyal to Dutch by the end of 2, though by the time of RDR they seem to have lost all loyalty to him (It's even stated Javier took Dutch's descent the hardest, but unless it was in some missable dialogue in the camp, I didn't see any such indication). What caused them to finally break like Arthur and John did? How did they go from siding with him to saying "No more Dutch and no more you!" and "I can take you straight to him." (Though granted that last one was likely a lie said to bargain for more time, but still).

-Only because most of the original map is in the game do I make this next suggestion: A DLC focusing on Landon Ricketts training Jack Marston (I know it's never confirmed that happened, but some throwaway lines hint at the possibility at least). Unfortunately they would have to replace Ross Hagen, God rest his soul, but I think this would be a very fun and neat idea. I wanted them to implement it in RDR but unfortunately it never came to pass.

Finally, one that everyone suggests: Red Dead Remastered! Though I see it being another game before it being an expansion. I think it'd be cool if they used the new voice actors and added a couple of new missions as well, and changed dialogue to match up what happened in RDR2 (Referencing Arthur some, saying that John left after the train job and not the ferry heist, saying he left in 1899 and not 1906, stuff like that. And throw us lore hounds a bone by mentioning John's daughter, sheesh, haha). Very unlikely to happen, but cool.

I had two others that I considered but eventually decided would prolly be too boring, but I'll say them anyways. The first was focusing on John's time shortly before his story is picked up in the epilogue, particularly concerning that man whose brother seeks revenge for his death. The other was seeing what the gang got up to while Arthur, Dutch, Micah, Bill and Javier were in Guarma, though I have no idea who would be the player character unless it was Sadie or Charles, and what would happen other than stealing Hosea and Lenny's bodies.

Some others that could be neat but definitely won't happen (sadly like all or most of these anyways): One that shows Micah running with Cleet, Joe and some others shortly before joining up with Dutch, though preferably not playing as Micah, Tilly's time with the Foreman Brothers gang being touched upon (maybe even carrying on after she leaves, dunno), Dutch's time between Arthur's death and meeting back up with Micah and maybe even his time forming the second incarnation of his gang (maybe have Nastas return as the player for that part?), something to do with Hercule in Guarma before the gang arrives, something that focuses on the O'Driscoll gang a bit (playable Kieran perhaps?), Geddes ranch conflicts with Mr. Abel before and maybe after John leaves (though this prolly belongs in the boring pile), and since there are already younger models of the characters, a few flash back missions with Dutch, Hosea and Arthur during the formative years of the van der Linde gang, doesn't even have to be a full expansion, just implement flash back missions like they were in The Warriors. Sillier ideas, other than Undead Nightmare 2, are something focusing on the Chelonian cult, all of the supernatural stuff in this game like werewolves and vampires and aliens, and maybe even something with the focus being all those creepy hill folk in Butcher's Creek.

And for God's sake, one of these please explain what happened to Karen! Haha.

Like I said, the one I see being most likely is the "Blackwater" one. It seems to me like there's a rich story there, and maybe I'm looking into this too much, but I also noticed there were eight people involved in that job: Dutch, John, Micah, Javier, Sean, Jenny and the Callander brothers. I also noticed that it seems like in many of the "big job" missions (raiding the Braithwaite manor, the bank job, the train job) always involved seven NPCs helping out Arthur. Once again, probably just me looking too deep into things, but a neat coincidence all the same. And hey, if nothing else, it's fun to dream :)

The true question is, have Rockstar worked it from the ground up, or ported the old map in and improved it (new Austin) because that will tell us whether it will come or not, and whether those sounds/textures are new or just artifacts from RDR1. vegetation texture probably gets instant upgrade with this gen Rage engine.

as I said before I think it will, but probably only online which will be really annoying. Theres space on the in game map for mexico to fit.

I apologize if it’s been mentioned before, but I think simply giving us small dlcs that add all new “random events” and “stranger missions” would greatly lengthen the playability of this game, atleast for me. They could add new bounties and maybe even a few more “duels”, etc etc. Obviously, new missions would be fantastic too. Finally, I’m well aware I’m wishing upon a star with this one, but: seeing as the catching and braking of the wild horses is one of my favorite activities, it would be great if they expanded on that idea.

If there is DLC it should be a remake of RDR1, not remaster.

I wished for Undead Nightmare 2 or something similar for the SP DLC, but now, after thinking a lot. I have come to the conclusion that Undead Nightmare and other Supernatural things should be an Online DLC with its own Session and Missions so they are not mixed with the normal session.

What I now wish for SP DLC is John Marston's Story, when he left the gang and was gone for a year or so before the events of RDR2. With new locations added to the map which should be available for players to explore again after finishing the DLC.

I can picture it [BE WARNED, SPOILERS]

Spoiler

After killing Micah. John, Abigail, Charles, Sadie and Uncle, sitting around the Campfire on Beecher's Hope the night before Charles' and Sadie's departure, talking about the past.

Charles and Uncle starts asking John why he left the gang for a year and what he did that year. IF Charles and Uncle were a part of the gang back then. IF not, John mentions it himself that he left the Gang for a year and the others ask him why and what he did alone for a year after leaving the gang. Then as the camera slowly moves from the campfire up to the night sky with the stars and the moon beautifully shining down. Screen fades to black.

John starts his tale.

"Well..." and then DLC starts.

And from there we play as John before the events of RDR2 took place and we get to know what he did during that time, add action and drama!

I am confident in what I wish for a SP DLC now, would be fantastic in my opinion. I understand if you do not agree with me :)

To the west of rdr 2’s map is a lot of territory! Looks like it could be accessible from NA but the horse slides down. If there is a map expansion, which I hope for but doubt, it will be there.

2 things.  Arthur in New Austin.  In my opinion, New Austin was in there for purely online purposes.  Going to New Austin in that game does not break the canon, but it bends it pretty far.  I won't hold my breath for it, but I want Arthur to have a New Austin story.  I knew i'd love Arthur and I want more time with him.

The other one I want is Jack post Red Dead 1.  Where did he go and how did he become a ruthless badass killer in 3 years time?  I'll buy that he turned out to be a natural, but I don't buy that that natural talent blossomed without some nurturing.

IF there winds up being a sp dlc, I honestly trust rockstar to do it up right.

The most sensible Single Player DLC would be a prologue to Redemption 2. The Story expansion could show the events leading to the failed ferry robbery that pressured the gang to flee north into The Grizzlies. I actually suspect that side of the story was originally included in the game because we saw Arthur in two instances in Great Plains with one scene at Blackwater in the trailers . Rockstar might have cut the content and decided to let the journey begins after the gang fled and was trapped in the blizzard, and saw a potential in leaving that content as a DLC for later.

Suppose the DLC gets scrapped for RDR2? What would happen since the preorder bonus mentioned DLC's?

Brothel DLC would be great.

The thing is that there's nowhere really else to go with the story, unless they give us another Undead Nightmare. That would just be treading old ground though.

I'd like a Micah Bell DLC, where the honor system is ditched for a notorious system where the more dastardly the act is, the more notorious you become and the DLC is set 9 months before meeting Dutch

I could also see a horror-based DLC, but this time, it could be based on historical myths and legends relevant to the Western era. Not zombies and other tired cliches.

The honor system is already a notoriety system too, just perform a lot of dishonorable acts and presto, you're notorious.

As far as a Micah DLC, don't tempt them. God that guy is a piece of crap.

I highly doubt they'd do an Undead Nightmare type DLC for this game but that's just me.

They don't need to, really--just do a survival with any of the creepy NPCs (plenty to choose from) and you've pretty much got it right there.

Mexico for sure even in single player story, and a bit more enhanced RDR1 map area, seems extremely boring and undeveloped down there. I think R* is planning something for both those areas.

Really hope we get story DLC for RDR2..still salty about GTA V DLC being scrapped in favour of Online & I'm worried Rockstar might do the same again. This game is way better anyway and could be even improved with some good DLC

I know I'm sounding negative, but it seems like Rockstar's business model from here on out is Online, period; story mode DLC not even considered for a microsecond.  The ROI in Online is high, while the ROI for story mode DLC is generally negative.  😕

It's a damn shame, since the beautiful world of RDR2 (and the beautiful world of GTAV) desperately need good story DLC, worthy of the incredible world design.  It's absolutely the most logical thing ever.  But Rockstar doesn't roll that way.  😠 Our loss.

In addition to my post above, there's this other scene from Blackwater in Gameplay Trailer #2 that isn't present in the final game. There's also the mountain in the background which doesn't exist, but that better be left for another discussion (Beta topic?).

I started thinking about how the northeastern part of the map resembles the East coast rather than what’s near the Mississippi river, and now I think RDO will get historical updates with clothing and weapons of certain time periods.

pirates

vikings

13 colonies

civil war

etc
