Hey sh*t star try making a quality game like you used too before the $$ grab of the micro transaction sh*t show we get now. You need a sturdier Horse.

The higher the speed the lower its "courage" is. Something like the Shire horses are unflappable. If you want a good mix then go for the Warhorse.

It's happened to all of us. The rage I felt after I got killed by a cougar and realised the perfect wolf pelt that took me an eternity to find had gone was indescribable.

This is why you turn off auto save to avoid Rockstars truly bizarre save points. Just remember to regularly manually save.

I have the warhorse from the UE. It’s not the horse getting spooked is loosing whatever collectibles I had found and said collectible not being able to get again

I like how "f*ck microtransactions" was just kind of thrown in there even though it doesn't have anything to do with the rest of this guy's complaint

Rockstar looking a little too greedy as of late

What collectables?

Clothing items go to your Wardrobe the moment you pick them up, unique skins go to the Trapper and items go into your Satchel the moment you pick them up. I am genuinely confused as to what you are talking about.

And also like I said, get a sturdier Horse. My Shire never bucks me off and takes bullets like a champ. Well I will be honest, in thirty hours he has bucked me once and that was only because five Alligators in the swamp were going to "Piper Perri" him.

I agree. I've gone with a Dutch Warmblood and a Hungarian Halfbred for long stretches and really started to prefer them to what the game considers "top" horses like the Arabian. My absolute best Horse was Buell from the veteran, which I believe is a Dutch Warmblood. He dead now though, killed by cutscene. Now I ride one of the Andulusian horses you can buy and also stole a Mustang off one of the Lobo gang. Both of those are pretty brave horses too.

It rains way too much in New Austin and Lemoyne. I literally want to see nothing but blue skies and sunshine when I'm in those parts of the map but I feel it rains more than it should in those areas.

You have to feed your horse like ten things of hay in a row to bring it from Malnourished to Thin

This should be lowered to maybe 4 tops

It's tedious and it's the longest animation too, you can't spam it like you can with brushing and patting

There should be a hunger bar along with the health and energy bars for both you AND your horse so you know when to eat. I just randomly spam food in my mouth at random times hoping it keeps me average. And why is it it says my horse is dirty and I clean it and it still says my horse is dirty? Why are there not a more obvious way to let me know I am cold besides the white snowflake on the already white icon. I never notice it. I see the red clean your horse icon, why didn't they do the snowflake the same?

Finally finished the game a couple of days ago. I'm sure it's already been said many times, but the main thing I hope R* improves in their future games are the missions. They really need to give us more options to just do things how we want rather than always following a set path. There's hardly any player-agency in those missions and it just gets real boring. The only reason I really even bothered to finish this game is, because I liked the story.

Also I hate how I can't get into shops when cops are after me. If the store clerk locks the doors then let me at least kick it open or something. I wanna go inside and have a shootout in there. I just hate these kinds of arbitrary restrictions.

Yeah, I would also like to see a plan actually go right. Why does the gang do any sort of planning before a mission as you know that something is going to go wrong and an inordinate amount of bad guys are going to randomly show up. I knew I was going to love/hate this game from the moment I crouched in the lean to outside the Adler's house and the shootout commenced and suddenly more guys just happened to ride up. It was enough to shoot the two out front, the one in the window, the one who came out the side door and the one who came out of the outhouse for a starter mission, why the extra guys who just happened to arrive out of nowhere? What is it with Rockstar where there is absolutely no chance you can do the outlined plan right? I tried to do things stealthy once and gave up, just like in GTAV. There is no point. Like the Sean rescue. You stab the first two guys and then immediately shoot the next two even though you are still hundreds of feet away from Sean increasing the risk of them moving or shooting him (if it wasn't a scripted event where he just stays tied up). You should be able to stealth kill all the way to the rescue if you can do it proper.

I did the first home invasion with Javier where you go to the rednecks in the "out of the way place" (which is right next to a major road, BTW) and the first time I did it, I did it his way by hiding behind the rock. The second time I did it I just shot all four of the guys while they were standing together. Then we just had to deal with the chick in the barn and the two in the cabin. Javier is all like "You went too soon, Arthur." No dipsh*t I took advantage of surprise and killed them before they could separate and complicate things.

This is 2019 why have we still got homes we can't go into? What is the point of making a home but we can't enter it? We should be able to enter (by walking in or kicking in the door or even blowing it up) and rob ANY house in the world. And why are there so many people in a town but so few places for them to live? And they don't live outside town because there is nothing nearby, makes no sense. What also doesn't make sense is how the places you can stay, the hotel in Valentine and Strawberry have so few rooms for clients. How do they stay open?

I hate the way the challenges are designed so that you can only achieve them once you've unlocked the right ranks. Some more advanced challenges are much easier to complete than other lower ranks ones and it pisses me off.

The game is an outstanding open world experience and yet here I am now, forced to go around the world map with a damn bucket list in my hand. Oh, gotta go kill three rabbits NOW. Oh, gotta go play Blackjack in Van Horn NOW.

In my opinion, they should all be available from the start and you just complete them slowly but surely, as you please, by going through the game and just having fun. Who knows, maybe you reach the credits and completed 65 challenges without ever having to look up at the tasks you needed to do.

It's anti open world.

You should be able to do the challenges in whatever order you like, just as long as they get done. And the criminal ones are the most pointless. Rob 5 people, put a guy on the track, rob 7 people, put a guy on the track. There are so many repeat quests it's not worth doing.

Same with the other missions. The rescue the turtle kid mission really irked me when at first there was no horse and suddenly there was and then when I couldn't get near enough to lasso him, AND then when I couldn't shoot his horse to stop him. Utter BS! I know you went to all the trouble to script a really stupid train between us confrontation with a totally unbelievable suicide attempt Rockstar, but COME ON! All Arthur wants to do is have the kid talk to his sister. If he wanted to keep playing put the turtle in the shell with the other guys after the talk then he could, he was a big boy. (And I know movies have a hard time but why in games where they LITERALLY create people do siblings and relatives look so unrelated? She's hot and dark haired and he's a ginger who looks like an avocado?) Why would he not want to see his sister enough to shoot himself in the head, made NO sense whatsoever. The whole event was contrived and is one of the missions I hate the most in the game.

Well I mean it kinda is

and no one liked torturing animals, ever, thats just a retarded urban myth

Back then there were no laws against animal cruelty. People just knew it wasn't right and didn't do it, unless they were assholes. Same with most other things back then. People just knew how to be nice and how to conduct themselves in an acceptable, appropriate manner, for the most part. Not like the last 40 years, of which each decade gets progressively worse. They had common sense. If they had Tide Pods back then I guarantee only the stupidest, slobbering moron would eat them, or do a Bird Challenge, or Cinnamon Challenge, or any other moronic thing that comes around, because they knew it was pointless and stupid and they had better things to do with their lives, like survive and find themselves food.

It also bugs me that you can't pick what type of Dominoes or Five Finger you want to play at each area. I liked the first domino game at Horseshoe and then when we moved it was a different type of domino game that I didn't care for. And I know Texas Hold 'em is all the rage nowadays but back then they played 5 card poker. And where is Farot? That was a major gambling game back then but it doesn't exist. And you should be able to pick the ante for the poker games. I hate always having a 4 cent big blind. Why can't it be a ten cents, or a quarter? Or heaven forbid, a whole dollar?! Crazy RIGHT!? You should also be able to pick the wager for the other games as well. Ante a dollar for Domino? Why can't I bet $10 bucks a game since I have so much extra money flopping out of my pockets. In fact I have more than enough that I could retire comfortably at the rates they lived by back then. Even halfway through the game I was rolling in money. Why buy a horse when you can steal one? Why buy a gun when they give all the ones you need to you? I have never bought ammo either, you get so much there is no point. I never bought the upgraded holsters or Legendary clothes because I thought they were ridiculous looking. I never bought the bandoleer because you have more than enough ammo why have more? Same with the gunbelt; pointless.

I only bought a tan long coat, a red shirt, a pair of fringed chaps and darker stalker hat so it looked more like Clint Eastwood's in the trilogy. I don't see the point of wasting money on clothes you can't save an outfit for without losing another outfit.

Also why can't I cheat at poker like the last RDR? And why don't the chip piles more reflect what is happening. In the original RDR they put more effort into the poker chips. You could actually see from the chips on the table who was doing better by the stacks.

Might be small, but the off hand holster irritates me. Should have the option to uneuip it or place on your other hip. Plus it's not seen in cutscenes.

The fact that the game is FULLY compatible with the player not having a satchel or off hand holster but won't allow us to remove them.

Agree totally. I've only got the Arabian once and whilst it's a quick horse...it looks like Arthur riding a pony and is too skittish.

Plus I don't think Arthur suits an Arabian. He is more of a work or war horse guy.

Yeah, he really does look ridiculous on the Arabian and I guess the Mustang is kind of a small horse too. For the race horses though the Thoroughbread and American Standard for me are much more preferable to ride on. At least they have nice tall legs and don't look like you said, riding a pony around. That Arabian is barely bigger than the Donkey you can ride, lol.

Give me an Andalusian or Dutch Warmblood anytime.

Andalusian as it's as brave as anything, where as the DWB seems a jack of all trades.

It’s really obvious that Beecher’s Hope is definitely unfinished, not just unpolished. There’s a giant bath tub with no way to actually take a bath. I’ve had my family dinner disappear right in front of me. I’ve seen Charles leaning on a fence long after the final mission. There’s a glitch keeping me from cleaning the barn and milking the cow. The bed is really tricky to get the “sleep” prompt.

It’s very disappointing to see Rockstar fail to live up to their own standards, and I don’t expect it to be patched in any meaningful way.

That seems to be the way of it nowadays. I played Ghost Recon Wildlands almost from the beginning and Ubisoft is nice enough to have an official forum for their customers to comment on the game. I made a huge list of things that I would have done differently or fixed (turns out a lot of people had the same ideas before me) and got frustrated when they didn't even fix the little things but kept saying that our input is important. I finished with that game and moved on to others about a year ago now (maybe more, I don't keep track) and went to the forum a little while ago to see what was up and people are STILL complaining about the stuff I brought up and the people who played the Alpha and Beta versions before me complained about before the official release. I said it there and I will say it again. Companies only care about getting our money they don't care if we play the game for five minutes or five years as long as they got theirs. They only care that it runs to the end of the story. They don't care that it is perfect or even good just as long as it is passable. If they did care they would fix the same damaged Wanted system they have used for how many games now? They would care about the single player person as much as the multi-player person, instead of just dropping the SP person and fixating on the MP. What happened in GTAV will happen here. Every week they add stuff to GTAV but none of it ever trickles down to SP. Why can't the older cars and weapons they released in MP be available to SP players. As new content is added to MP allow the older stuff to trickle down to the SP player. Give the SP player a reason to want to keep playing. When the story is done there is only so many dart and golf games you can play before you get bored. The same is true for RDR2 once the story is done, what is there for the SP player to do? Go fishing, hunt? I purposely avoided exploring anything while doing the story in RDR2 so I would have something to do after the story was done. There are a lot of game worlds (Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, Mafia III, Ghost Recon Wildlands, GTAV, RDR and now RDR2) I really loved being in but that left me unhappy when the story was over because there was nothing after. Sure you could still play after the story but for what purpose? The only game I have found that has something to keep coming back to is Watch Dogs 2. There are always missions that are supposed to be MP but you can play SP which keeps me coming back. I just wish RDR2 was a game like that. And I just wish game companies would care to fix the things the majority of their player base complain about (Wanted system, more outfit slots, more horses), instead of just Quality of Gameplay fixes (mission glitches, better FPS rates, better load times).

Some of the random events just don’t give you enough time to assess what’s going on and who’s the bad guy. I don’t know how many times I’ve stumbled upon people arguing only for it to turn out, whoop, apparently it’s a robbery and whoop- someone just got killed. My honor gets dinged just because I’m there, as if I had any time to figure out what was even happening.

The cinematic camera is useless.

You should be able to use it as a "I'm gonna go make myself a sandwich" kind of way while the game rides from Tumbleweed to Annesburg but instead you have to stay right by your TV screen at all times because every five minutes you'll get bushwacked by bandits or cougars or wolves or whatever other garbage the game throws at you.

Why did they even bother? Why couldn't they make it so if the cinematic camera was on, no one would attack you? I never use it now because of that very reason.

I really wish we could to some degree control the weather settings. I've mentioned it before but I just feel like it rains way too much especially in areas that you wouldn't expect much rain, such as New Austin and Lemoyne. Hell they even mention at one point in chapter 3 theres barely been any rainfall in Lemoyne yet it still frequently rains.

I dont particularly mind this in West Elizabeth/Valentine/New Hanover as it fits in with the atmosphere of those parts of the map but it seriously annoys me when it rains in parts of the map that are supposed to be in a warmer and drier climate. I think we should have an option to control the amount of rainfall, maybe setting it to average, infrequent or just turn it off altogether.

That annoys me as well.

I find beautiful places to camp and I am teleported miles away from them. I wanna pitch my tent in the middle of Colter so I can have a fire and live there but nooooooooooo I have to cook a mile outside town.

Let's bring this thread back.

when r* animate shrinking horse balls but can't even get John's epilogue hair color right (the contrast between some details in this game astonishes me)

When lot of the singleplayer content is cut just to be reused in RDO later on (example: clothing and weapons)...gotta get them gold bar sales boah!

The latest patches really made a big mess over entering buildings/barbers/salloons.

Either you stand for like 2 seconds before you're allowed to enter or it lags af and at night the barber loads but closes magically when you come by.

Witness system is a complete mess.

Reticule shaking makes my balls hurt

New Austin in 1907 is the 1899 version of NA...they just went lazy with the time development there.

John's outfits from the chapters not available in epilogue even though they're in the game and are 100% wearable (probably being reused in online for gold later)

Too much realism for a game from R*.

Gameplay is not fluid, cover system is slow, weapons staying on horse are pain in the ass.

Unrepeatable bounties and no jobs probably so that you don't have anything better to do after 100% the game so you go online and buy gold bars.

Rockstar satirizing greed and such but are partners with the ultimate greed lord Strauss Zelnick and are heavily promoting micahtransactions (it's r* fault too...not just take2)

The game doesn't feel like the spaghetti western like the first one did and that's a shame.

The story is beautiful but slow as hell and boring aswell (the assassins creed syndrome) - "follow this guy, get this item, kill some guys, go here, press a button, follow this guy, follow that guy, rinse and repeat''

Gameplay is worse than that of the first game (imo rdr 1 was way more responsive)

I agree with most of these, however the gameplay is way better than RDR, the core, the physics, the realism, the immersion etc everything is improved in RDR2.

RDR feels like an arcade game in comparison...

@Jason @Spider-Vice

Could u please move this thread to the general RDR 2 section. This thread is not only gameplay related and it's getting helluva less attention than it could

I really dislike NPCs' perfect accuracy during gunfights. I am not talking about close quarters, but when they are obviously very far away from you, which gives you the assurance that you can safely turn your back to them for 2 seconds and run to the other direction to find some cover behind a rock or a tree but you suddenly get riddled with bullets in the back by enemies 100 metres away with freaking pistols.

it's rockstars lazy way of making the game "challenging". they are definitely the worst out of all the developers when it comes to balencing difficulty and fun.

secondly, small amounts of smart  enimies > large amounts of dumb yet highly accurate enimies. right now the enimies take forever to get out of cover, if they even decide to take cover because they usually charge at you and it just doesn't gel well with the slow paced shooting. It would of been better if the enimies were actually varied. shotgun enimies will charge at you and are a threat at close range but something you don't need to worry about when their far away, handgun enimies are at mid range and move cover to cover to get closer but you can take advantage of their slow reload speed, enimies with repeaters stay at mid range but again suffer from slow reload speed and sniper enimies are at long range but only really get a shot on you when standing still and you can take advantage of the time they take to get the next shot ready to get closer.

I still can't believe you can't switch lock on to a different opponent when fighting multiple enemies. What the actual f*ck.

They've been really lazy with hand to hand combat for a long time now

Think Rockstar should go take a look at GTA4's combat system for help, a game they were making 12 years ago.

I love rdr1 but I think 2  could of been so much better if it didn't exist
