Regular PS4 (cleaned recently ) and some cheap 75 inch TV called Vizio. Picture is set to Computer /Gaming.

That may be the cause of some performance drops then, but I dunno for sure.

It was ok out in the open but once I got to Valentatine to explore it little bit, I can see fps dropping down and it is annoying. I hope it just goes away, maybe it was one time thing.

Also just let me repeat it ... Red Dead Redemption II (from what we've seen and read about it so far) is shaping up to be Rockstar Games' best game yet.

People where saying the same for GTA V... And look how it turned out to be.

GTAV is the #3 best selling game of all time.

🤷🏽‍♂️

The quantity of copies sold has nothing to do with the quality of the game. Does this mean that Tetris is a better game than GTA V?

GTA V is riddled with many annoying features and missing opportunities, with problems and issues that didn't exist in previous iterations, and its cut content being repurposed for GTA Online to get more microtransaction sales.

From the moment there was leaked gameplay people were whining and complaining about GTA V and I see very little of that on this forum. I even see some of the IV crowd who dislike V praise it.

Well this game seems to be made for the IV crowd. It's very grounded and slow paced which suits their taste.

Not that I'm complaining. This tone fits RDR pretty well and I accept it. I don't think it fits a GTA

There'll always be a good B&M.

My only one so far though, it was funny to be strolling along so casually and then bump into an NPC horse and cart, only to get flung off/collapse in a heap.

Well ok, not a B&M but did test me a touch when on the run not 10 seconds later.

This game's gonna keep me giggling at epic fails. R* gold all round really, lol.

I'm sorry but the player movement is horrible. It's really sluggish and slow. The controls are a bit iffy as well.

The menus and inventories are all over the place too, its just fiddly and complicated. I also dont like how the horses handle, they're not satisfying to ride at all.

Hopefully its just a case of getting used to things so I'll keep playing, but so far I havnt been that impressed. Although I do love hunting this time around its much more satisfying.

I dunno the same magic that was there when you first played RDR1 just isn't here. I'm disappointed in how much the graphics have been downgraded as well.

A lot of people are saying similar, but they never specify which view they're referring to. Does this 'clunkiness' relate to 3rd or 1st person view?

Ok I am going to be honest, I don't think I like this game but I am trying and trying to.

The animation and graphics are a 10/10 for me no doubt about that. What's making me dislike so far is the map and story, all I can say is boring. It's just grass, grass, and more grass, what's the point in having such a huge world with nothing in it?!?! There is literately nothing at all what the hell?!

Story I am so far into now and not one thing has happened. Same old go to a place, kill people and loot a load of crap from a cabin or store or whatever. Seriously I am still waiting for the story to start getting good.

Also a massive thing I don't like is the constant spamming of X to get to start the next mission, just riding through nothing but emptiness and grass for 15 minutes every single time you complete a mission.

The shooting and combat are atrocious.

Is it just me or where does the hype come from for it? I am trying to appreciate it so much and the graphics and animation I strongly do but the map and story, where are the good sights at? It just feels like a huge empty world and they said it would be the liveliest, deepest open world they have ever created.

Sorry to moan so much but I am seriously not feeling anything at all from this game and am very far in, just complete and utter boredom.

Please let me know if you agree and your opinions etc, Thanks everyone.

Just like in most games: tracking animals is about the most annoying sh*t there is.

The white line you get for trailing is a lot of the times barely visible and it's just walking after a line. Without the use of the tracking mechanic you aren't finding any clues either, so it's just all around annoying.

It's not GTA V; it's not for everyone. It's a pretty slow start, but I like it for that. I totally understand that running around from A to B, to some kill this quest can be tedious. They aren't groundbreaking, but I like the stories and the talking between characters. I'm sure the story will slowly start to unfold. And just with good books: you need some building up to have a story with impact.

The first game, RDR, is much more detailed. RDR2 is a victim of modern day game design. Rockstar tried but ultimately failed in many ways

Thanks man yeah I agree it's not GTA that could be my problem, I also never played rdr1 so i don't have any right to moan. It has been a nice day despite me moaning about the map because looking back it has gone fast and I was deeply drawn in at times but for the most of it it's just been a feeling of "when does the story start, where is the action?"

Another problem is I suffer extreme anxiety every day and find it hard to concentrate deeply and it ruins everything for me. I am going to keep trying and trying with the game because again I am truly blown away by the graphics, just feels a bit empty to me at the moment.

3rd person. I'm yet to play in first person and doubt I ever will because I'm not really a fan of it.

The movement just seems really sluggish, to the point where I'd say RDR1's player movement was better - it just had more of a balance. While on horseback it just seems quite floaty, thats the best way I can describe it.

I agree with most of what you said. I've been having trouble with the shooting so far, It's just not as satisfying as RDR1. Like you I'm really trying to like the game because I was looking forward to it for so long...but it just doesn't feel like how I thought it would. The menu's/sub-menus/wheels/horse inventory/satchel.....its just too much, theres so much going on it just seems like a bit of a mess. Fair enough its early days and ive probably barely scratched the surface but I'm just slightly underwhelmed with my first impressions.

Just a few examples: RDR has more blood/gore. NPC's react more realistically to your actions in RDR. The scenery idle cam from RDR is missing in RDR2.

Just finished the 1st train robbery.

This has to be the most atmospheric game I have ever played... however there are some annoying niggles like the kinda slowish/sluggish movement and very slow animations. Quite linear at the moment, can’t wait to go solo already, without the gang.

I like the core of the shotgun, shooting off limbs, heads etc - amazing stuff! So far I definitely prefer this over RDR.

It can only get better :)

The only niggle I have, and it’s a small one, is that in a bid to create a deeper, more immersive game, I fear that some of the more fluid arcade type urgency has been sacrificed.

Tied up a guy who was a debtor at the rail tracks. He had a treasure map which I used to find his little stash a bit further ahead. I came back a few minutes later and he was gone.... Kinda disappointing.

highs and lows in my first few hours... but then something strange happened (i'll keep it spoiler free, don't worry)

in a mission in chapter 1, during the trip back to the camp, i ran across a danger. I think it is a scripted event, since my NPC companion did aknoweledge the danger and asked me to get out of that situation quietly.

But because this is an open world and i like to explore, i tried to face the danger... and i died a stupid death.

One checkpoint reload later, i was ready to face the danger once again... but i discovered that i restarted on a "safer" path, and i was basically on a long, straigh, danger-free road toward the camp. My NPC friend even asked if i (arthur) was daydreaming, as if the danger was "erased" when i reloaded.

Did i do something wrong, or the game "babysitted me" away from the danger?  Has this happened to someone else (even in later missions)?

I really love this game so far, but there are few things i dislike. There's a lot of new stuff to learn, i always got confused with the controls. At first i forgot to use the L2 menu to talk to other people on missions. I don't like the new combat system. Really sad that they didn't stick to the Max Payne 3/GTA V combat system, which was the best of all time.

I keep hearing about how the game holds your hand sometimes, I don't remember RDR1 doing that, imo it was the most challenging R* game outside of the Max Payne series. Are there difficulty levels or special game modes that make the game flow more organically?

Is it me or is the movement actually fine? It's not as fluid as GTA V but in general not wholy different from other recent R* titles. I have found stagecoaches a bit awkward to control however.

There are some parts during missions where your movement feels limited, but otherwise I'd personally say it holds your hand no more than the original or GTA V did. Shootouts are actually quite challenging at times, even with soft lock on.
