guardian1816
I posted a few days ago about not being able to find any cougars. Update: I have spent about 8+ hours just roaming around areas they are supposed to be and havent seen/heard any cougars...even tried bait / potent bait...nada On to Beavers....been currently looking around the area the are marked on the map and nada...2 hours and counting. If we cant find these things until a certain point in the story I would like to know, but aside from the most popular (arguably dumbest) post here "What's your horse's name" I tried to name mine "Doesnt matter gonna die soon" but it wouldnt fit. We dont hear anything from Rockstar or the moderators.
Mach1bud
I've seen both cougars and beavers in the wild, while freeroaming. You will hear the cougar, they have an even louder roar/screech than they did in RDR1. There is at least two tied to side missions as well. I'm sure there are more. Saw beavers early on in the game near a river, didn't think much about it tbh. Twitter - Instagram - Youtube - Social Club
Aarond000
Not tried to hunt cougar's yet, but beavers appear in groups and are fine to hunt (have to be quick though, otherwise they run away from you and spend half a day swanning about in the water). I'm in chapter 4 by the way

You can name it "Juicy C*nts" and no one would be bothered. Your chosen name must have been too long, my guess.

Back to the topic at hand. I am beginning to think that if you are actively on a quest or challenge the spawn rate is decreased. When I was looking for rabbits and squirrels it took a few hours to get them. Right afterwards I couldnt go 20 feet without finding a bunch. Gallows
Cougars are a bit rare, but once you find them, it’s easy. Beavers are easy enough to Hunt. for cougars follow the stream north of Lake Owanjila (NW part of map). There is one cougar, and if it’s not always prestine, you just wait a day or two and come back until you get it. I often see it crossing the stream. beavers are found in many places, but the easiest place I have found to get perfect pelts is along the river, South of Elysian Pond (just West of Van Horn and then move north along Kansas River). Havent stumbled upon any big cats yet, but if you travel pretty much directly east from Emerald Ranch, after a short ride you'll run into a small creek area. Open your map and you'll notice a beaver marked on the map right next to the creek. There is a beaver dam in this area, you cant miss it. You're pretty much guaranteed to find a beaver there. Incidentally this is also where the legendary beaver is located. EDIT: East of emerald ranch, there is a small lake called Elysian Pool. If you follow the river south from that lake you'll run in to the beaver dam. You cant miss it. Again, it's also marked with a beaver on the map. Good luck Edited November 2, 2018 by NoEasyDay
