Skirmisher
Having 10+ years in the software lifecycle as a developer and tester, I'm puzzled how Rockstar can release a game where masks do nothing to hide your identity and prevent a bounty once committing crimes. It's only a basic function of the game and their Dev/QA department should have found the issue and fixed it. Every time I use mask I don’t get any bounty on my head. If you kill someone, cover your face before any witness comes over. Then just run away from the law and you’re fine. I think a lot of you guys don’t really use masks the way you should. Skirmisher
Im walking through town with the bloody mask on before I'm even at the building I need to rob. I'm not the only one experiencing the issue as I've talked to players in chat during live streams of the game. I'm on PS4. Modern Spartans MC
In Red Dead Redemption 2, masks don't completely hide your identity. It's more detailed and realistic than that. Simply placing a mask or bandana over one's face won't disguise one's self completely. If you have previously caused a lot of trouble or gained some notoriety in a certain area, a bandana or mask won't do much to help conceal your identity. If you're committing crimes near people you know, they will still recognise you. Think about it... if you saw somebody you know in real life with a bandana concealing half their face, you would still be able to recognise them. The clothes you wear also have an impact! If you wear the same clothes a lot, people will recognise them and you. Make sure you place a mask on before and take it off once you're out of sight (and hopefully out of the current search radius). Not only that, but put the mask on far before you reach the location, but note that if people see you with the mask on, they will take more note of you, and it will actually make them more likely to notice you than if you were able to slip into the background and put a mask on before committing a crime. There are so many more things that go into it than what I have mentioned, but masks DO work. They just don't work magically. Try and think of it as if it were real life, rather than looking at it with video game logic! If you're committing a small crime and you're in and out of there in a matter of seconds, then it should work for you. As a general rule, if the wated level is on "Investigating", the mask should work. If it goes past that and you receive a bounty or "Dead or Alive", the mask probably won't do much good.
