Profanity check is too strict!

I wanted to name my horse Fritz after the horse from Django Unchained, and for some reason it's considered profanity. HOW!?

Even google has no answers...

It is English slang, used by the British during WW1/WW2 as a semi-offensive term for German soldiers.

Wouldn't have thought it was significantly worse than calling an American a yank, or a Frenchman a frog though.....so surprised it's banned!

Its the new PC craze in videogames. Can't be stepping on anyones toes. Sadly even Rockstar seems to have fallen for it. Its very possible they have hired a lot of new folk that demand this type of oversensitivity.

who does it bother if you named your horse hitler for example?? Who will be able to view your horse’s name?? I don’t get it. When I was a kid I named my characters all sorts of profane nonsense. And for the record I named my horse Blacky, I know that might seem racist to some but my horse is just black. I'm surprised my horse's name wasn't banned then if Fritz is banned wow.

Blacky is a perfectly fine name for a horse 😁

Fritz was the first name of various people in the waffen-SS so there’s that as well. It’s not due to “political correctness” or whatever

I’m not saying that it is right or even that it is related to the nazis. I’m just saying that it’s the most likely reason unless Fritz translates into a really, really rude word in a different language or something.

yeah i agree, i guess if it is something their TV would censor then i can understand but i pulled one thousand years out my ass although i had a feeling i was right and the name Fritz is newer although it comes from much older names like Frietsche and that even goes back to Frederick (google is great lol) so it is an old name, i think rockstar could let it slide but you are right im afraid

Political correctness is stupid and political correctness in a game where you can shoot women in the face, spend days beating up only chinese people, rob the blind and blow up poor widows, is absolutely retarded.

Wasn't allowed to call her "Cracker" either.

I mean, I am one and I am not offended. Is that really such a bad word?

It's basically the white version of the n-word.

To you or I, no it's not a bad word. To quote Carlin - "There are no bad words. Bad thoughts. Bad intentions, and words."

Apparently I couldn't name one of my horses "Anais", which is my gf's little sister's name.

To be clear I can name the horse that when not online however when the game is connected online, the censor system blocks any attempt.

Define Political Correctness:  the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.

By your definition the exclusion of "fritz" would be political correctness.  However, by that logic Joseph (stalin) is ok in the game or Ted (Kozinsky) is perfectly fine.   We will never know why certain names are allowed and others aren't because I don't foresee Rockstar shedding any light on this.  There are a ton of good names out there to pick another one.

I am watching a video on a review of the Breyer Mini Whinnies blind bags. One of the horses in the series is called "Fritz", so maybe R* are being a bit too stringent, if a childs toy can have the name.

Yet the game has a "Cracker" cow in it, lol.

I don't understand who the profanity check is trying to avoid offending. It seems like if you're willing to play a game where you can murder farm animals, and drag black people to death behind a horse, you wouldn't be so sensitive that a silly name on a horse would offend you.

Everyone gets offended over everything these days. Getting offended is hip and trendy.

I was just bummed I couldn't do an homage to The Jerk and name my horse "sh*thead". And even adding the asterisk it wouldn't permit it.

"Two Balls" is profane but "TwoBalls" is not...I tried "Maryam" for the white, female Arabian horse & that was profane too.

Apparently "Hitler" is frowned upon as well.

Well I know what I'm calling that horse on MP once I get one.... 😂

The censorship is just bullsh*t though, just like the text censorship in GTA V. It's a rated M game for pete's sake! Not MLP Online!

I wouldn't be surprised if someone isn't keeping track of everything that has slipped past the censors, and is planning to update the list before multiplayer launches.

I was looking forwards to naming my next male horse Fritz, wtf is this sh*t.

I bough the game, why the f*ck can't I have FULL control over how I name it?

Nulla Lex Ink.

I think it's a bit silly that R* put censorship in an M rated game. Even considering online, it's a game meant for mature audiences. So what if I wanna name my horse "Hell Bitch" after the one in Lonesome Dove? Or heck, even just some random profanity? This game's target audience is older so the censorship is as ridiculous as it is unnecessary.

What's especially ridiculous is that I know of someone who tried to name a horse "Stardust," but the name was unacceptable because it contained the word "tard." Come on now, R*. This is crazy.

The censoring is most likely because they couldn't bother code the naming of the horses separately for singleplayer and online. It's funny that you can name your horse Stalin, Mao and Treblinka but not Adolf, Hitler or Auschwitz.
