is there any reason not to craft all my ammo into the cross point ammo?

I just use it as an excuse to stockpile more ammo.  Buy full ammo reserves, step out of town, craft it into split points, explosive etc, go back and restock regular ammo.  Weapon now has enough ammo to stop an army.

 

I see no reason not to take the time to make cross point ammo.  At the end of the day it's extra ammo to have in reserve.  Even though it takes a long ass time to turn the ammo into cross points.

 

TL:DR

 

No there is not any reason too, unless money is an issue, or time is an issue.  Extra damage stats and everything else.  No downsides.
