Roman Dozer
R1 to show info, on some ducks, tells you that in order to land a clean kill, to net pristine rewards, that you should use a varmint rifle. I’ve done so, and landed extremely close deadeye shots on both, head weak point, and the breast weak point. I kept getting zero pristines, and, “Yes,” the info showed them all as three stars, prior to my shots fired. I did some snooping and went into the compendium. It stated there, something different. It said to use a bow with “small game” arrows. Sure enough, SGA (small game arrow) did the trick! Lesson/s to be learned: 1: Have a clean weapon, it performs better (duh, right?) 2: Always check the R1 Show Info to research animals. This helps immensely with tracking; You’ll know what you’re tracking instead of “unknown animal,” more often. 3: Always check the compendium on the animal info for which you are hunting, if you find the in-gameplay “R1 Show Info” option is not rewarding you with your pristine loot/ pelts, etc. for the weapon it states to use. 4: Use deadeye to view the crit point/s on the animal as well and aim for that/ those spots, always. 5: Chew (tobacco) is your best friend. It fully restores your deadeye meter and is commonly found. While you will take a hit to your core for using it, matters not as, if you’re out hunting, you should be cooking and storing your game meat, which varies from restoring a moderate amount to a full amount. Dip it up, cowboys! Those ducks were trolling me so hard, but not anymore. Not. Anymore. Good luck and may your loot encumber the hell out of ya’s all! NoEasyDay
Personally I found it a bit strange that the game suggested the varmint or the bow and arrow, when realistically bird shot out of the shotgun would be the clear and obvious choice. Thanks for the notes though! Roman Dozer

paddymcg
Has anyone managed to get a perfect Alligator Snapping Turtle pelt? It seems to be bugged. Both the info and the compendium say to use a small game arrow for a clean kill but that always turns a pristine turtle to poor even with 1 shot straight between the eyes. I also tried using the Varmint rifle just in case it was wrong but the same thing happens with that too.

The people making this game don’t hunt, lol they could at least ask some YouTube hunter what ammo is best for each animal
