Merle Travis
If I save somewhere manually, when I load the game I always spawn somewhere else. Why? Likewise, if the game is saved with autosave while sleeping at a hotel, when I load up the game, I don't spawn in the hotel room by the bed but spawn standing up outside of town in a random location. And if I put up a tent I am always teleported to another part of the map and the tent is not put up where I wanted. Why? Why the hell do you not spawn where you saved, and why can't I put up a tent where I choose? TexasOdysseus
Man, you aren't kidding. I'm not that far into the story missions, really, just exploring and bumbling around mostly. There's more--and this has happened to me on multiple occasions: * I have autosave on, but played for 3 hours yesterday and had it only pop up once. * Tried to manually save, which it did but then ALSO plopped me down somewhere geographically different. * Finished the mission with Hosea that unlocked the Fence, spent a day out near Emerald Ranch, returned to camp, and cannot manually save! SO, I don't know if my progress will be saved, my stuff, any of it. The saving is terribly ambiguous in this game. I do wish it were like the campsite saves in RDR1. Why mess with that? I'm so damn frustrated right now. Merle Travis and GTADKNUT

The relocation bit doesn't bother me that much. I've only had it working against me once, when I wanted to re-do a random duel I lost. The not-saving at camp bit I've had too, but I think that's because, in my case, you've just returned to camp and the game is busy saving. I gave it a minute and tried again at which point I was allowed to manually save. I don't exit the game without a manual save.
Mach1bud
On PS4 I've just been putting it in rest mode from the game. That way when I get back on it's exactly where I left it. Didn't know about any issues like those, I just do it out of habit. Twitter - Instagram - Youtube - Social Club
Gallows
You do not save your precise position on the map, but your progress. Maybe it is as intended, so you cannot save right next to something and repeat it until you succeed. Working like GTA and I enjoy the little scenes going on when you load in, like your character was already doing something and you took control, Fatsanchez, Clayby and TexasOdysseus

I've never had to load a save game, I'm always exactly where I was.
roe
Yeah it does seem a little odd. I've had to reload a save a few times now because the game has a habit of getting stuck during certain animations and the only way to get out is with a reload. Whenever I reload, it's always in a different place and I'll have a horse with me that I didn't have with me before.

Why the hell do you not spawn where you saved, and why can't I put up a tent where I choose? Have to say, I've also found this a little aggravating. If I remember rightly, in RDR1 it had the opposite problem - your tent went up where you were standing, but it had a bunch of restrictions i.e. only on any relatively flat piece of ground in the wilderness and not too near a settlement, gang hideout, road, trail, or water. You kept trying to pitch camp and it would hit you with a "You're too close to X" fail. I think in order to avoid this annoyance, they've just decided to plonk you down at the nearest allowed spot. But this can itself be a minor annoyance if it leaves you a ride back to a particular piece of scenery you were wanting to check out in daylight..... Cutter De Blanc
With the tents, I've found that if you sit in the tent and then save your game, you will reload your game sitting in the tent.

I once entered my bed and before choosing to sleep i went in pause mode with a bad feeling of 'i dont know if the game can handle the pause mode for an hour in any state/part of the game' and i was right. it crashed afterwards! Rest Mode is not the same as pausing. That said, I've left my game paused as well for over 24 hours and nothing bad happened. Rest Mode put the console in a semi shut down state. The purpose of it is to literally do what I said, stop the game exactly where you left off, that's it's intended use. volta2001
Anyone know if saving too much has any effect? I remember in GTA5 there was something about the further in game you got, and more saves, higher the chance of the same cars spawning all the time
full_r3trd
you can save in camp but it will sometimes get locked for 10-15 seconds which i believe is when the game is autosaving... for example when you first wake up from being asleep in camp, the save game feature will have a lock on it for about 10 seconds Starting with GTA 5 i guess they started doing those little intro scenes when you load the game and they need to put you in a scripted location i guess so they find the closest scripted load location from where you saved... the town of valentine you either spawn near the meat guy or you spawn on the steps of some house near the sheriff... it is a terrible system i agree but i do like the idea of those little scenes they show the character in when you first load... they need to always load you in the same x,y,z position i agree... but they dont want to save so many different pieces of data so they literally just load the world fresh, saving your game in gta simply saves the time of day, your general location and how much money and items you are carrying... the save game feature is just all wacky garbage i dont know 21 minutes ago, volta2001 said: Anyone know if saving too much has any effect? volta2001
@full_r3trd in gta5 people were complaining car variety was much better in the beginning of the game as opposed to further along. Someone had said it was a glitch from saving too much or something but who knows
