So, I have been playing red dead 2 for a while now and I got to the mission *spoiler alert*  where you go to kill Angelo Bronte, but, the problem is during the cutscene where he gets feed to an alligator my xbox accidentally turned off and when I go to load the game back up I'm stuck at the loading screen for hours. Please help!!!

This has been an issue for a lot of people-not neccesarilly at the junction you are at either just in-general.   Had the problem myself-at boot it went thru the R* startup with the shotgun then the player choice of who to play as [[in case you have more than one person/player name-somewhere after that it starts looading a slideshow of images?   Yeah, gets stuck there.  Tried shutting down the Xbone a couple of times, removing the disc.  It has been suggested to actually uninstal the game and start over but keep your save files and reload to an earlier Save.   Also suggested when that slideshow is going using the Lt thumbstick down three pushes then A because it is apprently running over the actual option screen.   That worked for me and it started right back where I left off.   Maybe shutting down and unplugging the Xbone for a....cold restart IIRC might work?   At this point it is hit and miss as to an actual answer.

Have tried deleting the last few savefiles, tried rebooting, tried everything bu re-installing, and nothing works.

Great...

What a game killing bug....

I have noticed, every time I end up in that screenloop, the game creates an autosave for some reason.

So the game for some reason loaded me on now, but started me a good way back...

I has deleted at least 35hrs of playing time, forcing me to redo large portions of the game...

went from 50% completion to 30%..

Really pissed off atm..🤬🤬🤬🤬

It has even deleted all my horses, even tho I had them at this point in the game.

This game can kiss my ass right now..

Need a break..

Aaand also undid all my treasure hunts, removed maps, and I do not remember where I got them all, or which ones I had done.

Jesus f*cking christ R*😡🤬

The game must have done this for a reason, however annoyng. The game is much more interactive now, getting many more encounters, and seeing alot more animals

Wonder if it's to do with autosaving? It can be turned off in the settings but not sure if that will make a difference.

Found this on Reddit: it works !

  1. Start up your game file as normal.
  2. Let your game load for a couple of minutes
  3. By now your game will have loaded in, though you will still see a loading screen. Follow these next steps carefully.
  4. Press the PAUSE button.
  5. Tap down 4 times on the DIRECTIONAL-PAD (under normal conditions, you would see STORY highlighted in the PAUSE menu).
  6. Press A on Xbox. Press X on PS4.
  7. Now you will have two options, SELECT and BACK.
  8. Choose SELECT (A on Xbox, X on PS4).
  9. Now you will have options DELETE, SAVE, and BACK.
  10. Choose SAVE (A on Xbox, X on PS4).
  11. Choose YES (A on Xbox, X on PS4).
  12. Completely close the game application.
  13. Reload the game and proceed as normal. The problem should be fixed.

This loading screen glitch appears to be related to the Chapter 4 main mission Country Pursuits.

Happened to me at 45% through the game.  Boy, was I pissed !!!   Went to Google, and this article saved my ass:  Red Dead Redemption 2 Loading Screen Crash – How to Fix

Here's the principle:  While that endless loading screen is just sitting there, you can press the OPTION button on PS4 (or the START button on Xbox?) which would normally make the RDR2 Game menu come up, which normally looks like this:

Lsr9a0Nl.png

As soon as you do this, the menu is active, but you can't see it because the loading screen doesn't go away.  You just have to remember what your menu screens look like, as I show here.  Now you can use your D-pad on the controller, 4 taps down, to go to STORY, and then hit SELECT.  You'll be on the Save/Load menu screen, though you can't see it.

zQLfwDK.png

Now you can hit one more right arrow to get to LOAD GAME, and select a game to load (doesn't have to be the top one, just use any one to get unstuck), the game should load, and you'll be back to normal, where you have normal control and display of the game again.  Then if you want, you can try to load the last saved game again.

It worked for me.  👍  WHEW !!!!  Saved my ass, it did !!!!

Yes this does actually work. I had the issue today, shame I never read this post first.
