Pre-cocking

So, when I'm in a firefight in cover, I pop up and fire off a round, like you do, yeah?

But then I wanna take a second shot and I pop up and Arthur goes "click-click", and then shoots. I get having to cock an old timey gun first, which is awesome, but wouldn't it make more sense to cock it before popping out of cover?

And because that question is rhetorical: How do I pre-cock my weapon?

The only trick I have now is just do a mini pop up and back to trick Arthur into thinking he's gonna shoot.

Thank you.

The moment I posted I was thinking: "Someone's gonna tell you to press O, boy."

But that doesn't answer the question 'how do you pre-cock?'

There has to be a way to do it. It's completely immersion breaking that you need to pop out of cover just to cock the gun, it should really be an automatic thing when in cover.

That previous post of mine is in fact from a time of day that I am not usually in an awoken state and upon trying it just now I found indeed that reloading is indeed not the same as pre-cocking, so I am still looking for an alternate answer. Reloading somewhat solves the issue, but it seems odd to me that pre-cocking would not be a thing in a game like this.

On a side note, the more I say it, the more pre-cocking seems like something a fluffer does.

Yeah I was wondering the same.

What I do is basically double tap when I fire a shot, in effect firing and re cocking it. If I’m back in cover the gun is now ready to fire. Repeat.

What I do when shooting my bolt action is to simply tap-tap and back to cover. He will pull back the bolt as soon as the shot has been fired.

Double tap. Got it. I'll practice that next session.

It works, but for Dual wielding my scofields it seems he does it automatically, I don’t know why that is. I kinda like you have to do it because it makes the single action revolvers different from the double action and the semi automatic ones.

still it will be nice if they add a way to pre-cock while in cover or simply a settings option to do it from manual to automatic.

I never checked back in the options siince day one, simply forgot, but I gather from your response this is not err... an option?

I really like that single action means single action, but they should just let you cock without popping put from cover.

I agree. The guns are awesome, but even this far in I still have to pop-up and shout "Hold still while I cock it" from time to time. That's what all that time in Los Santos will do to you.

Aim behind you while in cover still, kinda lame but I guess a controller doesn’t have enough buttons and somethings can’t have their own button

You can also just tap the aim button, will not make you pop out, but you do cock your weapon.

I found only half pressing the trigger to shoot cocks the weapon

Without you popping out of cover?

Now that you mention it, yeah, it does. But it's finnicky to the point it seems this was not an intended function. In a frantic firefight you're sooner to overshoot the halfway point and blindfire.

On the other hand, it's eventually just a matter of muscle memory, I suppose.

If you just tap it, you won’t pop out of cover really.
