Am i doing something wrong??

I couldn't figure out how to get other guns with me. Basically I done an early mission when you can obtain a shotgun, but it was asking me to drop either my bow or my rifle which I didn't want to do. I then went to my horse and I couldn't figure out how to maybe put rifle or bow onto the horse so I can pick up the shotgun. This was last night and it is still bugging me this morning

If you swap out a weapon for a new one, the old weapon is stored in your saddle.

So i must have swapped it out about 10 times and trying to figure it out, but if I go to my horse it will be there?? Right I'll check this out tonight then thanks

If that doesn't work, you can just whistle for horse, and hold LB near horse, unequip your repeater or shotgun, then go and pick up the new gun. Not sure why I have "Worn" variants of guns though... is there any way I can sell or get rid of the worn ones? Or is there any difference between guns that are worn or not?

Maybe the worn gun has some special engraving on it or something

When you buy a weapon or pick it up like that, it's generally stored on your horse permanently then.

 

When you have a saddle icon instead of a gun, that means you don't have a gun equipped in that slot.
