Bringing gang members with you

I'm not terribly far thru the game so maybe this changes, but wouldnt it be cool if you could enlist members of your gang to come ride with you?

 

Choosing a member or two to join you for a ride in to town, to play a game a poker with you, watch your back and cause chaos with? 

 

Bringing a member to free roam with you, go on a hunt, assist strangers and so on? 

 

Even picking some people to accompany you on missions would be cool. You could call friends to hang out with on GTA, you should be able to do the same with members of your gang. 

 

What do you guys and gals think?

Honestly thought this would be included in the game, but nope. Just another lone-wolf free roaming. It really sucks

Maybe because it was so unimpressive that I can barely remember that feature even now that you mention it.

 

However, I am getting the impression from several sources, inculding the game itself, that it should be possible to grab a buddy along. I wouldn't know how either though.

Yeah I'm really annoyed about this. I had so many plans on hanging out with various gang members. I just wish there was like an update or something that could add this in. The companion activities kind of makes up for it but not really at the same time.

Did you play San Andreas? It was quite important feature, also in couple of missions, it was always lot of fun , doing drive bys, fighting with other gang members etc

This is seriously the feature I was most expecting during the whole wait for release. You won’t understand how utterly disappointed I am after playing basically half the missions hoping that the feature will be accessible after a certain point..but so far it doesn’t seem that way.

 

seriously, how hard could it have been to add a “follow and take simple orders” button while in the gang camp?

 

imagine setting a waypoint far away and letting cinimatic (autopilot) take you there as you watch Arthur and 2 or 3 other gang members riding together. (It would also make me feel safer knowing I wouldn’t be ambushed when I’m not paying attention to the screen.)

 

(What even happened to the ‘push x to move up in group & rb to fall back in group’ feature that was first introduced in the first couple of missions?)

 

its a beautiful game, very fun and captivating at times. But I feel like I was scammed by rockstar.  I’ve learned never to buy a rockstar game based on just reviews and fan theory’s.  Don’t believe a feature is in the game unless rockstar actually verify it.

 

lets pray there’s an update or dlc for the feature to get added.. or hopefully it’s still a feature locked behind a mission.. it would be very cool if it was an ‘end game’ feature too but honestly after finding out this feature wasn’t in the game I haven’t really been able to keep myself interested in finishing the story or even playing the game anymore. 

 

The best outcome of this will be new games will have to upgrade their NPC systems to compete with rockstar. So we’re in for a wild age of simulation gaming my friends. Thanks rockstar for that atleast.

Yeah, I played it. Oddly, the bringing-homies-feature is something I remember from Saints Row more than GTA. The only thing that springs to mind right now is on part of, I believe, central Los Santos where there was one guy hidden or bugged out somewhere that prevented me from grabbing every territory ever.

It's weird how the mind decides to exclude random memories of pretty much the only hobby I have.

Honestly sucks that this isn't in the game. I would love to cause mayhem in valentine with Javier, sadie, John and bill or something. Sure in the gameplay trailer part 1, there's a scene that shows arthur leading a group consisting of Javier, sadie, Sean and bill through valentine. Was it cut or what? I'll still enjoy this masterpiece, but it's kind of taken the joy out of it atm

I heard people saying that based on relationships with gang members they will ask to accompany you on rides. I blame gtaseriesvideos for hyping me up for nothing. Never thought I would be saying this but f*ck them pricks.

Sorry one last thing, it seems as if the feature was confirmed by rockstar itself. Click on it and scroll down far enough.

 Imagine our luck, out of all the features stated here, it's the free roam with gang members that we don't see. I've contacted rockstar support to see what they say. I've linked the tweet above. Hopefully something happns

Wow bro, you won’t believe how angry this has made me. Wtf. I specifically remember before the game was released a selling point was that “gang members could loot dead bodies before you if they reached them first”. The moment I played and realized this was false, I should’ve known!

I just hope that it's a bug or something. Kind of like the sadie adler not being at camp during the early chapters bug. I hope I get a response from rockstar support but i'm not optimistic to be honest

Well to be fair, that bit IS true. It happens on a lot of the missions where you're accompanied by fellow gang members.

 

But still the fact remains, it sucks that this very simple mechanic wasnt added.

I went on the page and read all the posts but it doesn’t say it anywhere.. but I do specifically remember a key selling point of the game (atleast for me) was that other gang members loot bodies of enemies before you if they reach them first.

 

im so f*cking disappointed..but this is exactly why I only paid $60 and not the special edition price. Seriously, rockstar has a underhanded marketing strategy, they pay so little on advertisement because all their hype beast fans literally create hundreds of bullsh*t fan fiction features that they HOPE is in the game & some game reviewer or youtuber runs with the false information spreading it to millions (and it literally does reach millions because rockstar likes to go ghost during development, they do this on purpose, so the fans do all their marketing & they never have to pipe in and say “hey that would be a awesome feature, but sadly the game couldn’t handle it”. So atleast a couple thousand people buy the game based on false information)

 

but for $60 great game. Story is definitely better than GTA V in my opinion. But still none of these new rockstar games can compare to how feature rich San Andreas was.

I hope it’s a bug too. I was adamant that it was a bug at the beginning stages of the story because I was able to glitch the game somehow and have Bill and Lenny follow me throughout free roam, they would fire on enemies that were red on the map and they were very well coordinated. So I know the coding is there! I just wish I knew how to trigger the glitch again.

So they would follow you on horses? Yeah the AI especially gang members are very accurate, which makes this feature missing even more depressing

Yes bro! They even dismounted their horses and mounted them in the same general area id make Arthur dismount.

Yea bro Lenny and Bill followed me on horse back. But not only that, they shot who I shot at (or whoever shot at me) and they would dismount their horses and mount them again whenever I did. So they would follow me on foot and by horseback

Nope. I was not in a mission & I didn’t recently complete a mission. I was just riding around the plantation & the hostile npcs started to shoot at me. I escaped from the area on horse back and headed back to the gang camp(which was very close to the location because of the part of the story I’m in) I think an enemy npc may have followed me and fired a shot towards the camp.

 

because when I got to the camp all I noticed was 2 white dots on the map (Lenny and Bill) and they were following my every movement. I was surprised by this so I tried to check if they were actually really following me, so I jumped on my horse and rode off out the  gang camp and surely they followed on horse back too. Yea bro. I only got it to happen once but truthfully I fully expected it to be a feature in the game after witnessing that so I stopped trying to force it to happen.

Lol I’m about to try it now. You let me know how it goes. & remember I’m not really sure how I triggered the glitch, I just know it’s possible and that’s my idea on how I did it. 

 

if you find out a way please let me know. Because even if it’s not a actual flesh and blood feature I’ll be less disappointed in the game if I can atleast glitch it whenever I want.

to be fair something similar happened to me but only it was the law. They followed me to camp, I expected to fail and it usually does so but it instead a sh*t ton of white dots appeared, I died before we could clear them out though

Also i've restarted my playthrough so it'll take a while before I'm in the open world

I'm going off for a bit. Let me know if it works. This will keep me busy till rockstar hopefully  do something about it :). I'll be back soon. Good to see i'm not the only one bummed about this.
