Things I miss from RDR1

I kind of miss Fame. Anybody remember that? Unlike honor, it didn't go down. I also miss some of the music ques that occurred after story and stranger missions. Nightwatch with a dog. Liar's Dice will probably be in DLC? Arm Wrestling? What's a gameplay feature you miss from RDR1?

Defintely Liars dice, i had so much fun playing that in the original game. I also miss the Lemat revolver which was my favourite gun from RDR but guess it doesn't fit in with the timeline or something

Damn I miss the LeMat revolver too. But it was invented in the 1850s or 60s and was in use by the confederacy so a certain gang could definitely should seen using it.

That thing you could do when you whistled your horse and could run to intercept it and then jump on at speed.

I miss some of the weapons or maybe I was expecting them to build on RDR1. However,  for whatever reason ( anti gun climate?) so many years later and nothing to show for. Customizatin is nice but only 3 revolvers and overall poor variety of weapons is only reason why I couldn't give this game 10/10. There is simply no excuse for Rockstar constantly ignoring weapon aspect of their games.

Le Mat should have been in this game, no excuse there. It was produced in variety of different flavors,  centerfired version would fit with time period nicely.  Also Remington 1875 should have been in the game, same as some type of concealed carry Derringer as well as older Colt, Navy or maybe Dragoon.  

 

But they did go with Vulcanic pistol which was garbage.  On top of that, it has best damage stats in the game for unknown reason.

How water droplets formed on screen as the rain came down if you looked up. 

 

The Water streaks that trickled down on a window pane as you were inside playing a round of poker in Armadillo Saloon.

 

Slow days, where the transition of Morning Sunrise to Afternoon Sunset was immersive.

Well I wouldn't mind that at all if it applies to SP. However,  I have a feeling that we won't see any new weapons as SP dlc but only as Online update. 

 

In reality,  there are so many firearms from that period that they could have put 50 of them in game and still have plenty for updates.

Faster Dead Eye.

 

You can unload on someone in literally 3 seconds from an entire Winchester Repeater.

In this game it just feels a tad bit slower but not that slow.

 

Also, Liar’s Dice as others have mentioned.

I haven't made it far in the game yet, but I've gone through the strategy guide, and there are a TON of weapons in the game.

Not really. In terms of specific firearm models, there is very little,   even less than in RDR1. There are "unique " versions of existing models but those are not different guns , just different finish.

I miss the old shooting mechanics

 

Sure being able to manually cock a gun is fun, but goddamn I’m pressing my R2 button twice to unload one shot? Eh. Wish there was an option where it automatically cocks the gun after a shot

I miss the combat roll, but at the same time, am glad it's gone...you could stay alive for hours in RDR1O & GTAO if you timed each one perfectly!

I don't hate the whole "law-system", but i prefered it in RDR1.

I don't know if it's just me, but I find the "strangers" kinda meh in this game. Admittedly I've only met a few, but even the ones I've met don't really feel like strange souls wandering the west like in Red Dead Redemption. I can still remember Billy West, Jenny, Sam Odessa, the strange man, Jimmy Saint etc fairly well, but I wouldn't even be able to remember anyone I've met in Red Dead Redemption 2 off the top of my head without looking it up.

 

It's possible the concept just isn't as fresh anymore like it was in 2010 when it was coming off GTA IV introducing random characters into the game world and expanding on it.

I have to partly disagree. The "strangest strangers" are not adverised as such and you encounter simply by visiting isolated cabins. I have run In to some very creepy weird people that came with cutscenes and all but were not strangers missions. And these people are weirder and creapier compared to rdr 1 stranger missions.

That was really cool. My horse takes forever to get to me when running from the law even though it's only a few feet away and even with high horse bond lol

 

I wonder if you can jump from a building and land on top of the horse and then start riding it like you could in the first game...

Yeah. I guess I should just do more exploring, but as far as the actual "strangers" go my opinion still stands.

Well if history serves as any indication most of the weapons if I recall correctly that were added to GTA Online could be used in singleplayer. The rocket launchers, smgs, rifles, pistols, melee weapons. I'm surprised gta had a musket before red dead redemption got one. I would love the high power pistol back too.

Hey thanks for letting me know! I'm glad to hear that cool little features like that made it into this game. A lot of times in many video game franchises there's always that one cool little feature that doesn't make it into the next game. It's not much but it's a neat detail.

Really hope with DLC comes many minigames. Like GTA:V, what we got here is good. But I feel it's an area that maybe should added more. And though I don't miss it now, Mexico is most welcome anytime. (Like GTA V, add III/VC/SA/VI minigames too).

 

Stats, lots of them too as I liked them for making my own fun as much as anything. New targets, time doing this, cash earned/spent etc. All that jazz. But if it means online freeroam has no K/D for random kills/sucker punches/EWO abuse too, f*ck it. I'll take it. Plus, plenty there too.

 

Minor/common complaints though really, game outdid the last in almost every aspect.

 

Also, fast travel. Not needed now, but might prove handy, lol.

It's actually not an M1911. It is actually an FM Model 1903 which was never adopted by the United States. The M1911 has the prominent hammer but they look similar and both were made by John Browning. I mean Rockstar makes realistic worlds that mirror our own but there are many differences. Wouldn't hurt to have it be in Online and have it take place in 1903. I mean not too far away from 1899. Or just not really explain and have it in the game anyway because it wouldn't be a big deal.

That would be really helpful for avoiding bear attacks in this game lol yeah it was annoying to fight people who constantly did that.

I agree. I said in a previous post that the day/night cycle isn't tuned well and can change fast from one state to another, including the weather. The day cycle sometimes reminds me of Mafia 3, and it doesn't help that both games have us exploring the bayous. I don't like that feeling.

No fame kind of makes sense, the gang's trying to keep a low profile constantly, often using fake names.

I do very much miss mi liar's dice, though.
