There's voice lines for picking up the serial killer quest as John after Arthur died. (As opposed to ingame where the quest just resets).

Is there a way to determine how big he actually is when compared to other NPCs? Is it a bigger model or the game scales him up in-engine when the game starts?

no.
R* set the scale in the ped related ymt file.
but R* deleted the original file.
so we can´t know what scale they originally had set.

we can just speculate

Just found something pretty interesting. In Whinyard Strait, under the waterfall if you stand in a specific spot in first person the screen would get splashed from the water (like in GTAIV and RDR when it rains)

 

Maybe it was in the Beta for when also rain fell, but removed it and forgot about this spot

 

You have to be in a specific spot I repeat

Cool! I've allways wondered from where was that screenshot. I don't play the epilogue so I'm not very familiarized with Great Plains. Everything looks basically the same except the trees of Tall Trees look a bit lower like in RDR1 (maybe in the angle) and the mountains of Ambarino that look bigger/closer in the trailer screenshot.

in the trailer screen it is more akin to gta 5 rather than rdr2 engine, the mountains in the distance to the left in the first trailer have snow to be more atone to rdr1's depiction of the mountains and in final all the snow is gone, tall trees got more taller trees and instead of many different trees like see near the windmill in the distance in the first trailer instead they were all changed to pine trees, the road was widened in the final game, the mountains in the distance in the first trailer had more visible trees in the distance and in the final the trees were given a more blurry farther appearance, a 2nd tree was added near the fence in the final game, the tree near the house was smaller in the first trailer and the house was also turned sideways and not brown but more beige in the first trailer also the roof was black instead of brown too, barely noticeable but in the 1st trailer you can see a white building through the plant, tree and fence which in the final game is changed to a more black and gray building, that's just what I've observed so far through both images, obviously all the mountains we're changed and reshaped, but that's what I see.

Also, on the trailer the game seems to be closer to the sunset time than on his screenshot, which probably is the reason why it looks slight more colorful, it may also change our perception of the draw distance a little, but the mountains in Big Valley and Ambarino were definitely changed, even Dan Houser confirmed this back in the day.

i really wish these were used more. in rdr1 it was always so fun to fight over el presidio. the cannons were so strong and had amazing sound effects. just hearing the sound of a cannonball flying towards you was frighting. but now in rdr2. the cannons are super weak have worse sound effects and the closest thing we have to el presidio is fort wallace. but we cant even get inside except a mission. and there are no cannons. this was a waste of potential. a lot of great westerns have fort shootouts. i wish they would open it up in rdo and add some cannons. so we could fight over it. or even a pvp mode where two teams fight to control the fort. there is so much they could do with this stuff.

Someone posted this on the RedDeadMysteries subreddit 6 months ago and I can't find any evidence that it actually exists in-game. The OP said it was below the "o" in "Lemoyne" on the map. Could this be cut content, or does anyone recognise it?spacer.png

It didn't make its way into the final version, just like a few others, but I think it looks like a Quarter Horse, some of them got this more golden color rather than the usual chestnut.

I always wondered why these aren't on the compendium, at least the machine guns, since we only use each of these cannons once, one in Guarma and the other in Fort Wallace.

i was wondering. is it possible that the hes british of course stranger mission was set in new austin? i was playing it on my current playthrough and a couple things make me feel like it was meant for new austin. first off i read on the red dead wiki beta section. that a camel was cut from the game. and it implied that it was meant for this mission. and of course when you think of camels you think of them riding in the desert. and lemoyne which is where the final version of the mission is set. is far from the deserts of new austin.

 

my second point being that sally mentions a dust storm causing their caravan crash. again lemoyne never has dust storms or anything like it. sometimes rhodes has little gusts of dust. but not like the sandstorms we have in new austin. so i feel like the mission was originally meant to be set in new austin somewhere. since we all know arthur was meant to access new austin. once they decided to not allow arthur in new austin .they kept the side mission but added it in a location in the new map. and they probably scrapped the camel mission. because the sight of a camel in lemoyne would just look odd and not right. this is just my theory. what do you all think?

In RDR1 multiplayer we were able to ride two type of bull, two type of buffalo, zebra. There was no camel. Even in mexico, poor ones of the citizens was riding donkeys. So i dont think Camel is good idea for being mount in red dead

I composited all the beta maps that involved Guama and made a simple animation showing what the map may have looked like based on the water density maps.

What I cannot decide though is if the shallow looking parts are actually shallow water surrounding Guama, or if at this point in development, Guama had been hidden above or below the outskirts map...?

There’s also the shirt cuffs that didn’t appear inside the dusters' arms, and the duster coat hanging over the Gunbelt/Holster slightly, as well as the ground texture being less muddy.

The shadow is also much better in the trailer. Maybe is the lighting, or maybe it was a prerrelease downgrade.

Am I crazy, I seem to remember once getting an error message "You cannot rest on stairs" when attempting to rest on some stairs, but I've only seen it once ever. Is this actually an error message?

Its next to moonstone pond. Theres a few unique objects there including a note which glows but you can't pick up.
