Yep!  It's "inside" the borders of the map.  There's no way up there though.  You can see from this quick border test where the physical game border is (purple line).  The original map border is the faint brown line running across about halfway down.  That's lots of unused space inside the map!

Really interesting... Sorry, but what are the red and green points on map?

I don't know if this has been pointed out here already but the "You killed my cousin, you sick son of a (beach)..." woman from Official Gameplay Video Part 1 hasn't been cut from the game, but now she has a different dialogue related to the mission The Delights of Van Horn.

If you look at the war horse DLC paper that comes with the retail copy, you'll see that at some point the Gunslinger Outfit could be worn with the scarf tucked out (similar to the Summer Gunslinger).

Yep. Also in the stratagy guide you'll see that the summer gunslinger outfit could be worn with the scarf tucked in.

This still kind of exists in version 1.00 of the game if the beta Bank robbery outfit is worn, if you switch satchels it untucks the scarf.

So the Beta Robbery outfit is only available through a save editor?

D*mn thing is offline and I cant install it and Save Wizard doesnt recognise my 1.00 saves.

Oh well, PC version it is then...

I made it quickly as a test that day using the spawning map @DuPz0r made.  My intent was to finish it with the official map image -- something that's on the backburner for a rainy day.

Beta Arthur from the TrustedReview leaks.
They got this screenshot August 2017, before Trailer 2.

He has the bigger Beta Duster Coat from Trailer 2, but a different face than final.

It kinda explains the fact that Roger Clark didn't see much similarity to Arthur until people pointed it out.

Maybe he worked with this model in the Mocap sessions?

Ah how I wish the dusters were bigger. I suppose it would wrap round a holster properly though.

Nulla Lex Ink.

Not sure if it's a beta thing or a mistake on the guide writers part, but according to one part of the official guide, "Dear Uncle Tacitus" might have had more than one part to it at some point. The page dealing with the mission itself lists it as is, but earlier in the guide it's referred to as "Dear Uncle Tacitus - I." I think it's in the Horseshoe Overlook mission flowchart. I wouldn't bet on it being anything major if it's not a mistake, but I thought it'd be neat to mention. If I had to bet I'd say all it means is that "Fleeting Joy" was once called "Dear Uncle Tacitus - II."

Looks like Tall Trees on the left. Maybe cut content I would assume. Why Rockstar cut New Austin and the Blackwater massacre out I don't know.

I don't get it ... what made them cut what looked like an entire chapter set in West Elizabeth a couple of months before the games release!!!??? I'm upset, really upset ... better not to trust any promotional, trailer, gameplay material from now on ... even if it's relesed just a couple of months before the games official release date. It's always the same, has been with GTA V, was now with RDR2 (although this time it looks even worse!). On top of all that they probably dedicated an entire team to screw up John! You all know what I'm talking about here! I really hope that with their next game they don't release a gameplay trailer alltogether because I just don't want to see great stuff there that's supposed to be in the game! only to find out it's been cut a couple of months later.

Actually, look closely at the mini map. There's a mission marker for Bill, meaning this photo must be during free roam, not during a mission. I doubt that there was ever going to be a West Elizabeth prologue. If you look at the RDR2 leaked map, you can see that The Grizzlies was always going to be the intro. I think R* always intended for The Blackwater Massacre to not be shown. Think about it, Dutch shoots a young woman during the massacre. If Arthur and us, the player, saw this, we would already be doubting Dutch from the start. I think R* wanted to emphasis the aftermath of the heist and how the gang deals with it.

As for New Austin, I doubt the gang was ever going to there. John states in the first game that they never went to New Austin. I personally think that New Austin was a last minute addition. If you look on the leaked map, it isn't on there. Also, in the first trailer, The Heartlands seemed to have a Desert/Plains mix, which they might have changed after adding New Austin.

@Mysterious hero Yeah, it somewhat makes sense but what about this scene then and the gameplay trailer also showed this Pinkerton guy in Blackwater! Also there's some scenes during the gameplay trailer where Arthur is shown in West Elizabeth.

R* let Arthur free roam in West Elizabeth because they wanted to show off the RDR1 part of the map. Their obviously not going to use John to show off what the updated Great Plains and Blackwater look like.

By "Pinkerton guy" do you mean Agent Milton? R* always moves around scenes in the trailers of their games to avoid spoilers. They did in GTA5 as well.

There's some cut dialogue from Arthur on West Elizabeth, no? I heard something about this before, that he was supposed to be able to go there, not only John, but I don't remember about it exactly.

It seems like the only thing not scripted for Arthur down there is the Bounty Hunting missions. @Darealbandicoot can tell you more, he uses a save editor

That's in New Austin, not West Elizabeth.

I still don't think the gang was ever going to New Austin. I think R* had an idea for Arthur to go down there and added some clothing and dialogue, but they couldn't find a good reason for why he would leave the gang alone while he goes out west. Maybe helping his tuberculosis might have been the initial reason, but he gets tuberculosis in chapter 6. At that point, Arthur is trying to help John and his family get out of the gang. Why would Arthur leave to go to New Austin when he's trying to help John? I think the writers thought about this plot hole and decided that Arthur shouldn't go to New Austin.

The more I read about it, I'm starting to think the game originally had a prologue chapter before Colter. It could of been something they decided to cut for story purposes. If that's the case, I got the bad feeling that down the road, they'll reuse that content for a Online story mission helping the gang with the ferry job...

I doubt it. The leaked map showed that The Grizzlies intro was always planned.

How so?

-----

It's doubtful that, if R* had ever created a chapter in W.Elizabeth and Blackwater and cut it, that they would then show it off in promotional trailers.

To me the logical thing is that they just swapped things around for the promo trailers - for what reason is not clear. Seems like a redundant thing to do. At the same time having a whole section of the map locked off until the epilogue is....uuuuhhh...sh*tty.

That said we know they cut or changed alot during development.

Well yeah, it does seem that way and it works perfectly as is(despite the game starting on a massive downward spiral), but Arthur did show up at the massacre, just at the very end. They still could have kept the ferry job off screen as it were.

I personally believe there was a prologue involving Blackwater. the remain of the gangs camp is still there (though repurposed in the epilogue) also, if you visit as Arthur, he will ask NPCs if they’ve seen any Pinkertons around. Imo It would had been a brief chapter, with Arthur scouting out camp locations in New Austin (this is mentioned in chapter 3 during the fishing trip) and looking for leads prior to the robbery. The ferry job wouldn’t have to be on screen either, as Arthur only met back up with the rest of the gang towards the end. It would then go into shootout mode with a cinematic escape into the mountains.

Buddy, you’re talking about a developer that has given us games for years where one of the main aspects was sections of the map being locked off until you reach a certain point in the story.

Also, like others had said, in GTA V trailers they had cutscenes play in different locations than they do in-game. Most notably, Ending C in Blitz Play’s location and outfits. It’s all for promotional crap and avoiding spoiling the story. Nothing more. The Grizzlies being labeled “INTRO” in a leaked map that predates the trailers by TWO YEARS supports this.

Anyhow, I forgot about the leaked map and INTRO. The gang camp could just be R* being super detailed. At the moment this missing chapter idea is still conspiracy for me.
