There's a reference to the non-existing Blackwater station in the epilogue. Kinda weird since it wasn't on the leaked map.

John's beta homesteader outfit was similar to his final outfit, except he wore his black NPC ranch pants instead of the blue suit ranch pants, his cowboy boots and spurs instead of the tan workers boots with no spurs , and didn't wear a hat.

I recall a leak made a long time ago that you were supposed to have more than three playable character (and the issues of RDRII's development), so that at least that lines up. The guy sounds like someone in the know, but you never know with the internet these days- and some of those crazier rape/KKK ideas would have been nonstarters and would have likely never been made in the first place if the game didn't want legal issues or a Mature rating slapped onto it from Day 1.

 

This sounds like it lines up with the whole problem of making and remaking vertical slices of the game. Some of these concepts if real, were probably just concepts and never made far into development as game developers sometimes go through lots of crazy ideas before settling on the final ones- I don't know why people in that thread are freaking out and assuming that there was a fully-finished rape scene in the testing versions. The guy even says:

I think there are definitely hints that RDR2 was supposed to be a much more ambitious game (devs mentioned a lot of cut procedural systems, and the camp system feels underutilized among others), but technical and studio management issues (recall the whole 100-hour work week brouhaha right before release) resulted in a more pared-down and manageable release.

 

Some of these systems would have been nice to have, others would have been extraneous and a chore- game development also means actively curating the game during development and making a game and plot that feels tight and focused. Regardless, working conditions sound horrible, if the guy is legit he should contact Kotaku or other journalist websites.

 

 

This sounds believable given how many movie scenes this game references, and lines up with what I feel about the game and its issues of mission/gameplay constraints.

I mean, most of what was written here seems plausible in pure concept form, no matter how absurd they might be, like Arthur being gay for Charles.

 

I really like the idea that camp upgrading could have meant something more, even though when you think about it seems unnecessary. Also that you could go on more robberies, heists on your own volition before progressing with story. 

 

It sort of goes along with my view on the game, which is that it's not sure what it wants to be. The more procedural gameplay elements are almost at odds with the strict narrative and story of the game. Almost like most of it is pointless. Like money in game...it's pointless. I just want a R* where earning money through criminal activity is a focus of the game. Anyhow, tangent.

Well I guess New Hannover could be a fictional approximation of somewhere like Nebrasksa let's say, which although varied is quite fertile. Google inage Nebraska you'll see what I mean.

 

Infact, when you see images of Colorado, Nebraska, Louisiana etc, you have to say R* nailed RDR2s visuals....the colour palette, lighting, landscape...amazing.

Or he may have been moved there just for the trailers.


Developers will do that.  Make the area look more busy.

This is a bug on the map, if you put the cursor on the actually Fort Wallace, the game doesn't give you the most wanted... is a misalignment of the map.

Didn't saw if it's still bugged on 1.09, but it was on 1.07 (PS4).

Honestly makes sense as Arthur is clearly bitter at John in the early chapters and writes in his Journal that he should have married her. But, I don't like it lol. And I'm glad they removed it and most mentions of it.

I wonder just how much dialogue was removed though, as Abigail doesn't show any sign of having any previous romantic feelings for Arthur at all during the main story and Epilogue.

Thinking about it, maybe it doesn't make much sense or the content was removed very carefully.

Roger and Cali Moore did lots of dialogue for it so I'd say it was removed in such a way that you'd never notice but Roger congratulated a fan for piecing all the leftovers together. 

 

He didn't specifically say what kind of dialogue there was but he said "Your not imagining it I'll put it that way" and when John left the gang he says "Who's knows what happened in that year" when referring to Abigail and Arthur’s relationship.

I remember in the fishing mission jack says arthur is a kid and the conversation that happens felt like a hint of abigail being arthurs old flame.

I remember the dialogue going like this:

 

ARTHUR

"Ah i aint a kid no more,but your mother might think differently"

 

JACK

"What is that supposed to mean?"

It's from the old version of the map... all the "police states" like the Fort and the Prison still have their wanted bubbles in their original locations.  Well, I haven't checked since in the past couple of updates so maybe they fixed those goofs.

Yep!  It's "inside" the borders of the map.  There's no way up there though.  You can see from this quick border test where the physical game border is (purple line).  The original map border is the faint brown line running across about halfway down.  That's lots of unused space inside the map!

Yeah.

"Hey guys, we unfortunately had to cut a huge part of the map, because of this and that."

You'd have:

  • A bunch of people understanding the situation and being fine with it
  • A big chunk complaining: "WTF, why?"

The latter bothers Rockstar.

 

Now, guess, why do they hate portfolio leaks?

I didn't mean anything like that. It's just amplifiles my curiosity of the development process and see what's cut. Seeing stuff on the Cutting Room floor is genuinely facinating. And with a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 there is a mystic surrounding it's unused content or concepts.

 

i just wish Rockstar would release a something similar to "Raising the Bar" for Half-Life 2 where they go into detail about the development of the game and it's unused concepts or content. Hell it would be a god send for aspiring developers.

Oh, I'm sorry. I misunderstood your post and came off as arrogant when I shouldn't.

I also wish they would be more open with us fans, sharing some concepts and other kinds of stuff. Which they've done in the past, although not with all games and to a limited degree.
I think the problem is that a lot people set pretty high standards for their games and so does Rockstar.

 

That's why I believe this is one of the reasons why Rockstar is very secretive with their development stuff. Perhaps a bit of paranoia when it comes to ?Information Security? too, but I could be wrong.

I am happy they changed that in regards to the sawed off shotgun. But is there any beta-indicator to that Arthur’s second holster was in any time of developing the game, different from the one we are stuck with now. What Arthur is wearing now is two right hand draw holsters of two different types. Having different types of holsters if one was carrying is not strange but since Arthur can draw both his sidearms of choice with both hands at the same time, it seems lazy that R* missed this and even more lazy since the second holster is invisible in cutscenes. 

 

The should have let us chose how we wanted to draw our sidearms, Micah, Hosea, Dutch and probably a maybe not so modest number of others has their own unique holsters and how to draw the guns from them. Even better would letting us players buy different type of holsters so I in theory can make Arthur draw his right hand gun from the normal side holster but draw the left from a type of holster of my choosing. 

 

The fugglines of the second holster also makes me believe that it was rushed to completion and added to the game just so it could be done and dusted. I hate to double dip, but better and cooler way now holsters work and more iconic revolvers in the game and I will instantly buy the PC/PS5/XB-Scarlett version of the game.

Also, John's ammo belt actually held revolver cartridges instead of being empty like it is in the current version
